Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on January 17, 2019January 21, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 WILD GUST was stiff to run into one as good as Devoted Star last start. They kicked 5L away from the rest of the field and if Pateman can spring the gates and find the front she can finally break through. NO MEAN FEET is drawn a little sticky but if the big boy gets across he’s the danger. TRUE IMAGE trialed like a horse who will be winning plenty of races. May concede them a fair head start. DREAM ALLIANCE was strong fresh no trial last prep. Numbers: 11 – 1 – 13 – 4 Suggested Bet – WILD GUST EACHWAY Race 2 LACEVINSKY should be able to clear them from the wide gate and come across to take up the running. Doesn’t look to be a great deal of speed and she was fairly strong on pace last start against classier opposition. KAKADU found trouble in the exact same race and worked home well. The Angelic Ruler form looks strongest. CAERHELAN should get the run of the race just off the speed and won well over a subsequent winner last start. FINAL HEARING could get shuffled back to midfield but will be charging late. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – LACEVINSKY WIN Race 3 ROYAL STATUE picks himself in a moderate 66+ affair. He was KO’d last start and should have won. Doesn’t show much speed so could end up three back the fence or worse but Pike gets him clear and he should be too slick for rivals. LET’S TWIST may have to roll forwards from a tricky gate to be put into the race. She’s going well. CHASING CHAOS has only 51.5kg on his back and has appreciated being allowed to run. Should lead by 2 or 3 into the corner. DISCOVILLE should be about ready to show form. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 8 – 9 Suggested Bet – ROYAL STATUE WIN Race 4 UPWARDS OTHERS has only won the one race from 19 but has been putting in the occasional handy run this preparation. He was knocked around badly last start and chopped out for a run at cruicual stages. To the eye looked like he was travelling. CRYSTAL VALLEY is a horse who finds trouble and finds ways to flash home late for a placing. She will need luck from the draw. WATCH ME NEY NEY should land a lovely position in running and finished off well last start. MAGICAL CHARM back up to a staying trip the improver. Numbers: 12 – 6 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – UPWARDS OTHERS EACHWAY Race 5 BEAT THE BELL was very impressive last Saturday at Pinjarra Park in an extremely fast run race. She got a long way back from gate 14 but showed at her previous start when drawn gate 1 that she can hold a position. Nice race for her. RISING SEA comes back in trip and back in grade. Draws a gate to lead them up and will be hard to beat. STRATOCREED has done nothing wrong since an uncharacteristic effort first-up. McNaught starting to assert herself on senior ranks. LAUFEY was huge at his return, may pay to follow him. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – BEAT THE BELL WIN Race 6 THE CELT vs MISTY METAL is an intriguing contest here. With the engagement of Pike on to THE CELT going to side his way to cause the upset. Should position up midfield and if he can be within striking distance is in career best form and will fly at them. MISTY METAL blew them to pieces in the Scorcher. If she can cross Belter in the first 100m she’ll be mighty hard to beat. FIRST AMONG EQUALS doesn’t have the best record off two months but gets it soft three back the fence. GEE BOSS is drawn awkwardly but if they string out could slot in. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – THE CELT WIN Race 7 FONTAINEBLEAU comes out of the fillies and mares series rock hard fit and looks to have found a race devoid of natural speed. If they let her roll straight to the front she’ll take a bit of catching. PRYING TOM is incredibly hard to place in the race. If he was to reproduce his run at WFA in the Kingston Town he would win. Had no luck in the Cup. REVEILLE is screaming out to win a race but continues to find traffic. MIRACLE MAN should have no excuse sitting right on the tow ball of Fontainebleau. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 9 – 4 Suggested Bet – FONTAINEBLEAU WIN Race 8 DOUBLE JEOPARDY has been crunched late at his two most recent starts. One where he was a late scratching and the other where he sat three and four deep the trip without cover. Should get to the fence from gate 3 and can win. MIKIMOTO is the one all eyes will be on. She is an ultra talented mare returning but could spot the leaders a serious head start coming for home. ALPHA SKY has the blinkers added first time and he was stopped in his tracks last start. DUTCH SPY could be a sharp improver if he jumps. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – DOUBLE JEOPARDY WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2,3,5,7,8 3,6 1,2,4,9 4,6,7 Market Market
