Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on November 11, 2022November 11, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SUCCESS PLAY resumed in the first Heat on the Tabtouch Westspeed Platinum Series when fifth beaten 2.5L by Oly’s Choice. Happy enough to follow that as a form reference race and think that dropping 2kg, stepping up an extra 200m and drawing a gate to settle close handy will see him run an eachway race. SWEET TEA is going to need some luck at some stage. She’s drawn barrier 1 which for her means at least three back the fence and in a lot of traffic. Talented mare who is still learning her craft. Could be a tough watch. DADIRRA is only a Class 1 mare but she’s been attacking the line all preparation. KEYTRADE will look to build in the three deep train and be doing his best work late. Numbers: 7 – 11 – 12 – 4 Suggested Bet – SUCCESS PLAY EACHWAY RACE 2 GROUND BRAKER looks to have found his most suitable assignment yet this campaign. Might be going off a start early but the double figure quote is hard to ignore. His first-up run was excellent when only beaten 4L over 1200m and hitting the line with the second fastest L600. Tramped wide throughout last start and kept coming when finishing only 2.3L off Ginger Green and Brooklyn Pier. Think he can get across to sit just off Castillo Del Lago and run a big race. CASTILLO DEL LAGO always meets with support in betting. He has finally found a race where he can control and dictate. Brad Parnham jumps on and rides these horses particularly well. STELLAR VISTA continues to win and is impossible to knock. STRIKE NOW has shades and Pike. Two big ticks. Numbers: 12 – 10 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – GROUND BRAKER EACHWAY RACE 3 CATEGORY THREE really attacked the line first-up behind Street Parade. Should improve second-up, has a whopping 6.5kg weight pull on her main danger Oly’s Choice and likely settles in a similar position to him in running. She’ll nearly sneak eachway and she’s the obvious danger on paper. OLY’S CHOICE is a seriously talented galloper. Resumed without a trial first-up, lumped 60kg, sat three deep the trip and was dominant late and through the line. Set another task from barrier 13 with 61kg but he’s classy. MAGIC TO EXCEED should get a far more economical run than what he endured first-up. VOGUE’S CHOICE goes well fresh and can hold the top. Numbers: 10 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – CATEGORY THREE EACHWAY RACE 4 IT’SARAYDAY had the blinkers removed last start in the WFA Prince of Wales Stakes. Finished fifth behind Miss Conteki, This’ll Testya, Indian Pacific and Comes A Time, beating home the likes of Amasenus, Nerodio and Stageman. Further behind him were race rivals Panzdown, Hot Zed and Iseered Iseered. Looks excellent placement back into a 78+ and after the claim of Holly Watson he carries half a kilo less in a handicap than he did at WFA. FEATHERWEIGHT returned with a booming 1200m win. He’ll get a similar run and carries no weight. GEMMA’S SON was only 1L behind It’sarayday in the Crawford and meets him 2.5kg better. HOT ZED is a winner. 61.5kg however a big ask. Numbers: 2 – 8 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – IT’SARAYDAY WIN RACE 5 BUSTER BASH will roll straight to the front and control the race. He’s a very hard horse to run down when he’s out in front and even harder when Paul Harvey is in the saddle. Expecting that he will get things cheap over the first 800 and then start to find a rhythm and try to sneak away from them rounding the bend. Great race for him. PURE DEVOTION returned with a barnstorming finishing at 1400m in the Eurythmic and announced herself as a genuine Cups contender again. UTGARD LOKI improves tracking Buster Bash in running. BILLY RAY had to sustain a run in the York Cup and that’s probably not his go. Numbers: 5 – 13 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – BUSTER BASH WIN Same Race Multi – Buster Bash (Top 2) + Pure Devotion (Top 3) RACE 6 VAMPI AT PLAY simply never got out at any stage in the Burgess Queen Stakes when very well supported in betting. She looked to have plenty to offer but was dragged back behind a wall of tiring runners and eased out of the race. Steps to a mile, likely lands in a similar position in running and banking on Stevie Parnham getting her into clear running so we can see exactly how much firepower she possesses. LACED UP HEELS was wildly impressive in the Burgess Queen safely holding Amelia’s Jewel who had her back for the majority of the race. Ideally suited at Set Weights and the deserving favourite. PENNY ON THE QUEEN is racing like she’s wanting a mile. SESSWA was a dominant last start winner. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – VAMPI AT PLAY WIN RACE 7 ELITE STREET has held the title of WA’s best sprinter for the last 2 years. In 2021 he won the Crawford, Prince of Wales and Colonel Reeves before running third in the Winterbottom Stakes. Following his Winterbottom Stakes set back he was given two runs over Autumn when winning the Northam Stakes and Roma Cup. Danny Morton produces his horses first-up without a trial regularly and this horse is the real deal. Excited to see him back. MISS CONTEKI is quickly closing in on his title and this race will give the Winterbottom Market a shake-up should she settle behind him and outsprint him in the run to the post. RED CAN MAN is one tough nut and he’ll sit up over the speed and absorb the pressure. THIS’LL TESYTA is in career best. Just being riddled with bad gates. Numbers: 1 – 10 – 3 – 13 Suggested Bet – ELITE STREET WIN RACE 8 RUMOUR SAYS resumed without a trial in the 3 year old Classic when peaking on her run over the last 100 and finishing third behind Snowdome and Just Go. Went to the Belgravia Stakes and was tracking into the race powerfully before gaps closed on Clint Johnston-Porter and left the filly held up the entirety of the home straight. Looked to have plenty to offer and looks suited in the three deep moving line. MY BELLA MAE is two from two undefeated. Has smashed the clock on both occasions and has a blistering turn of foot. BABY PARIS is a little ripper but she’s drawn a horrendous gate in a race full of speed. ALL SHOW needs to settle. If she does she’s another live chance in an open race. Numbers: 8 – 10 – 7 – 9 Suggested Bet – RUMOUR SAYS EACHWAY RACE 9 DEVOTED needs to win the RJ Peters to gain a start in next weekend’s Railway Stakes. His preparation has been torn apart through bad luck (and his own poor manners) so far but hoping that William Pike can prove the difference on the highly talented 4 year old. Nothing went right from the moment the gates opened first-up and he went to the line bolting in the Asian Beau second-up. Barrier throws up another curve ball but with clear running he looks the one. SEARCHIN’ ROC’S was equally as unlucky in the Asian Beau at her Jim Taylor debut. Devoted had her measure over the 3 year old Winter features and meets her better at the weights but she’s still a classy mare. EEYORE WAYZ is in the form of his life. LAST OF THE LINE almost fell last start. Great recovery from horse and rider. Numbers: 10 – 12 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – DEVOTED WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,3 1,3,10 4,7,8,9,10,11 10,12 Market Market
