Scott Embry’s Monday York Preview Posted on April 17, 2025April 17, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 GINGER AND TONIC has been knocking on the door all preparation and Paul Jordan has a fantastic strike rate taking horses to York and breaking through. Looks the right race for her. SAINTY CULLITY has had a rogue preparation. First-up 1400m, second-up Melvista Stakes (2200m – Listed) and now back 700m to a maiden handicap over 1500m at York with a set of blinkers. LK go home you’re drunk. HARLEQUIN PRANCER has promised to win a maiden throughout her career. Maiden handicap is the place for her to do so. TASMAN JEWEL was better last start. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet – GINGER AND TONIC WIN RACE 2 MYZOOM did it tough last start at Pinjarra when finishing fourth behind Pure Obsession (straight to a Saturday at Ascot), Spank Appeal and subsequent winner Shamilian Miss. Everything is going well out of that race and a maiden handicap is a nice bit of placement for her. LAKEVIEW LIGHTNING gave plenty of cheek last start when kicking on into third at 150-1. KUNAPIPI was always going to find them too sharp first-up. PLAYING FOR TIME will need a late split. Numbers: 7 – 4 – 8 – 9 Suggested Bet – MYZOOM WIN RACE 3 HEAVY METAL is brilliantly placed. She might be a 10 start maiden but she’s also Listed Placed (third to Sir Dreamalot and Earthstorm in a Supremacy), has placed in a 3 year old 0MWLY, split Six Shooter and 3x winner Nonesospicy in a maiden and gone around in a Champion Fillies. 60.5kg an ask but she’s classy. FAVOURED SON was backed into odds on last start and led for 1098m. Heartbreaking stuff for punters. STAR HOSTESS travels to York and has speed to burn. SANSANEE was much better second-up. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 8 – 10 Suggested Bet – HEAVY METAL WIN RACE 4 JUST GIFTED has Michael Grantham and Clint Johnston-Porter heading to York on a Monday. She was much better last start and the winner of that race (Black Ora) will be popular in a 3 year old 1000m Saturday at Ascot. ELSA’S PRIDE is a lovely York style jump-run mare. IF I DIN HAVADIME is accepted on Good Friday at AScot in a C5 and on Easter Monday at York in a 46+. This is conservatively 7/8L weaker and if Lou Luciani starts here then pay her respect. AKAI AKUMA a watch. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – JUST GIFTED WIN RACE 5 EXPOROSE was able to take full advantage of an on-speed bias at Pinjarra last start but has now found another really suitable race. From barrier 2 she can lead and provided she can absorb some pressure (Work Home Front / Don’t Tell Nan / Cocktail Party) then she’ll kick hard into the corner. PLAYBALL trialled well leading into his return and met with good support in betting fresh. Does no work and drops a stack of weight with Sharni Webster jumping aboard. WORK HOME FRONT is a great York/Narrogin mare and in theory a wonderful apprentices’ horse. CLASSIC RULER ran a ripper fresh and had excuses second-up. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – EXPOROSE WIN RACE 6 QUEENS SACRIFICE showed last start at Kalgoorlie that the C1 win at 200-1 was no fluke. Last 90 days Mack Hall has saddled up 37 runners for 7 winners at 19% strike rate and a whopping 33% POT. See no reason to jump off. JOLLY LACE went 27 days between runs into her most recent outing when winning by 3.5L in a time 5.5L faster than 52+ average. She’s dropping back in grade and back in distance so will need to be put into the race by Brayden Gaerth. CHEROKEE MISS is getting closer and closer to another win and appreciates the step up. BAY STREET next best. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – QUEENS SACRIFICE WIN RACE 7 PSYCHO SISTA dropped the rider on debut at Kalgoorlie and then after a barrier trial Luke Fernie added blinkers, added Jade McNaught and we saw what the mare was capable of – winning her maiden by over 2.5L in sizzling time. Think this will be a jump and run job and looks another great chance for the Pink Leopard Print silks. PRETTY DEVINE is a highly consistent mare and is really well placed here, especially after the use of the wife’s claim (naww). SABINO always a chance at this level. IMAROCK GOD has had plenty of excuses. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 9 – 4 Suggested Bet – PSYCHO SISTA WIN RACE 8 DO IT RIGHT was scratched on the 9th and 10th of April and is now a month between runs. Taking him on trust because his previous form: second to now Geraldton Cup winner Bambun Boy and then only 4L off Filthy Habits in a 66+ at Ascot. MINE HOST has been a nice pick up for new trainer Matt Scott. He had been building into the preparation and then put in a dominant display last start when pulling away to win by nearly 3L at Narrogin. This has more depth but racing well. HEAPS OF MOOLAH can lead and that could be key. MY JIMMY is the class horse (Saturday 60+ Grad winner). Will he stay? Numbers: 3 – 5 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – DO IT RIGHT WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 3,4,6,8 1,2,3,4 1,5 1,3,5,8 Market Market
