Scott Embry’s Friday Mount Barker Preview Posted on December 30, 2021December 31, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 DIVINE MERCY comes from a hot maiden form reference race. Finished third behind Knot Secret and Acting God. Knot Secret looks a massive chance at the Belmont meeting on Tuesday and Acting God sat three deep the trip on Boxing Day and was too strong after being well supported at the short quote. No Knot Secrets or Acting Gods in this. Hard to beat. ARAMAT has always promised to win a maiden for Jon Jachmann and the first up and second up runs were good enough to win this. NATURAL MOSS joins Sam Faithfull and if we’ve learnt anything over the last few seasons it’s that Sam gets her horses going early in the prep. URBAN WARRIOR will find this far more suitable than last start at Ascot. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – DIVINE MERCY WIN RACE 2 PRO IS HERE looks to have a class edge on rivals in this very moderate C1. The majority of rivals have been long time C1 animals and while there is a red flag (35 days between runs) the maiden form speaks for itself. Finished second to subsequent winner Blue Line and beat home Halatorion, Millivoy and Can’t Get Enough who have all made the form look good since. Straight to the top and should show them a clean set of heels throughout. SPIRIT OF PROPHECY is a perennial place getter. Knows how to finish in the money, doesn’t know how to win. DON’T OVERTAKE hasn’t won for a long, long time but is actually going ok. WAR ANTHEM an improver. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – PRO IS HERE WIN RACE 3 GINGER GREEN was very well supported on Boxing Day to beat promising filly Le Grand Amour before getting loose behind the gates and galloping away. Was a late scratching and now finds himself at Mt Barker in a 1000m maiden. Kept out of trouble he should prove too classy. His trial was great and the money speaks volumes from Boxing Day. HALATORION is the obvious danger. Gave a super sight at Ascot last start after being backed from $26 into $5.50. Absolutely ready to win, just can’t draw a gate. DEE RODMAN was good last start and should be breaking through in the next few starts. LE WREN is showing positive signs for Paul Hunter. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – GINGER GREEN WIN RACE 4 BLUE LINE is going super for new trainer Sam Faithfull. Winner at Albany first-up no trial at the opening meeting in what has turned into the best SW maiden form reference of recent seasons. Then was a dominant winner of a C2 last start. Stays in the same grade, only rises 1.5kg and should prove the one to beat again. Won with authority last start. VRUM has returned in career best form and gives the stable legitimate claims at a quinella. Hard to fault the way he’s going. COPPING POINTS is capable of carrying the weight and is a definitely top 3 chance. IBIZA an improver from the inside. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – BLUE LINE WIN RACE 5 KENDELS MEE DAD has been a marvel for Roy Rogers since he arrived as a Class 1 horse in April 2020. Rarely runs a bad race and the fact that he was able to get within half a head last start at 1100m just shows how well he’s tracking this campaign. Is a pervious winner at Barker which is important, especially when drawing the inside gate, and the way he’s going he’ll be mighty hard to beat again. LACEVINSKY is suited back to this company. Was supported in a Westspeed Platinum race last start and there’s not much between those races and c70+ company. WHAT ABOUT MOSES is rarely seen in the Great Southern. Whenever he is, he goes well. BLAZING TYCOON will lob out the back and be saved for one last crack at them. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – KENDELS MEE DAD WIN RACE 6 MINI WINNIE is well placed into this by Quenten Jackson. Double nominated for Wednesday Pinjarra and Friday Mt Barker and if they elect to go to Barker then he should be right in the finish. First-up only finished 3L off Nowhiteflag and even the run second-up beaten 7L was behind Written Matter, Island Charm, Vane Tempest and Nowhiteflag. Looks a suitable race for him. MEDELLIN put the writing on the wall two starts ago behind Candijay and Missallure and was rewarded for consistency last start when a strong winner over Friar The Gun and Ruby Jean. Certainly not the strongest of formlines through those horses stepping from a C2 into a 58+ but sure to be competitive as always. STARAUTHORESS doesn’t have a gate to work with but his effort in the Regional Championship Final was huge. HIGHFRIAR has been hitting the line all campaign. Ready to pinch one. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – MINI WINNIE EACHWAY RACE 7 EURASIA is probably the best placed horse on the program on Friday. Two starts ago ran third behind Worth A Risk and Miracle Man in a 70+ 1500m and then went to Ascot and finished fourth in a 60+ 2100m. Now drops back into a 58+, drops back to 1850m and after the claim for Kate Southam carries a winnable 60.5kg. Has placed with this weight prior and has raced in exclusively higher grade than this over the last 12 months. OSO TEMPTING is working his way through the country and provincial grades. Takes luck out of the equation with his race pattern. BRYCE ROAD went down fighting last start. He’s deep into the campaign and only getting better. SCREAM IN BLUE has been building to a race like this. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 9 – 6 Suggested Bet – EURASIA WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,3 1,3,4,5 1,2,3,6,7,8 1,4,6,9 Market Market
