Scott Embry’s Friday Mount Barker Preview Posted on November 26, 2020November 26, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ROCK HARD OMARU and OUR PANDEMONIUM look like they will fight it out in a Wolfe quinella with Moments of Magic the likely third place getter. ROCK HARD OMARU can sit leader’s back from the draw and hold a tactical advantage over OUR PANDEMONIUM which should be enough to get the job done. OUR PANDEMONIUM chased hard first-up and looks like she’ll be winning in the next two Great Southern meetings. MOMENTS OF MAGIC gave cheek out in front last start. CHOOSE TO CRUISE an improver with experience. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – ROCK HARD OMARU WIN RACE 2 SAX ON QUE should be able to work forward from the outside gate to find the breeze. The recent trial effort behind Mr Pago was strong and his overall form from last preparation was excellent, especially early in the campaign (including a first-up win). Always showed ability and looks a big chance fresh. ATHLONE CASTLE closed off well on a leader dominated program at Opening Day. LONG KNIFE BROTHER beat him home and has since run well again. WILLOW RIVER put in a below par performance first-up. Expect sharp improvement. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – SAX ON QUE WIN RACE 3 BIG SUMMER ran a ripper first-up at 1450m. Lead them up and gave a massive kick and huge sight. Second-up straight to the 1850, provided that Paul Hunter has the kilometres in his legs this race looks his for the taking. Will roll to the top and give them all something to chase. BLUE TURNS OT GREY is knocking on the door and looks a big opportunity for Holly Watson to ride her first winner at Barker. AMBER HIGHWAY has returned well and is dangerous from leader’s back. THE CORNISH ran well at her Shanks debut. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – BIG SUMMER WIN RACE 4 CONVALESCE is no longer a friend of the punters. Beaten first-up and second-up as faovurite and here we are again buttering up to see him go round favourite third-up. Gets out to 1300m, draws an ideal gate inside of the main danger and this looks an even weaker race than he contested last start behind Island Missile and Rock Hard Omaru. Give him strength. SPIRIT OF PROPHECY has a few quirks and seems to get very warm in the yard but she looks to have more than enough ability to win a maiden. ARAMAT ran well on debut and again has minimal weight on her back. DO IT RIGHT an interesting runner and capable of playing a part. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 11 – 2 Suggested Bet – CONVALESCE WIN RACE 5 MR PAGO is an old marvel. He is now a 9 year old and has won a race or two almost every season since Steve Wolfe brought him down to Albany. The recent trial holding out Sax On Que looked like he had wins left in those veteran legs and with the claim for emerging apprentice Snaggers Sardelic is well placed and well weighted. FROSTY BAY has her first start for Helen Harding and looks a super acquisition. Ryan Hill knows her well and this looks the reason why he is going down to Barker. CAROLINA REAPER won well at Albany and can hold form. VITAL BOOM an improver from the inside. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 7 – 11 Suggested Bet – MR PAGO EACHWAY RACE 6 BEE QUICK is brilliantly placed by Dion Luciani. Her last 8 starts since winning a C1 have been in higher grade than this, C3, Graduation 60+, 0MWLY 58+ and C5 races. This is a lowly country C2 and while she was beaten a fair way in her recent trial at Belmont she was relatively untested and it was a fairly rain soaked trial track. From the draw can hold a position and looks the winner on paper. OXBRIDGE gets weight relief with the stable apprentice going on and his effort last start behind a talented horse was strong. DYNAMITE BAY can improve quickly without surprising. THE SPRUIKER draws a gate to sit right over the speed. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet – BEE QUICK WIN RACE 7 FALSE STATEMENT is perfectly suited to racing in c70+ grade. Put on an exhibition two starts ago at Geraldton carrying 59.5kg and romping home with Diablerie in a distant second. We got to see on opening day at Albany what Diablerie did in in Great Southern 70+ racing so if you put two and two together, False Statement is the clear on topper. The only query against him is that from time to time he misses away. DAM READY might go up sharply in weight but the services of Kyra Yuill can’t be under-estimated. SIR SNUGALOT gets his chance to lead them up. TRANQUILLA SUNRISE can’t be discounted. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – FALSE STATEMENT WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 4,7 1,2,3,5,7,8,11 1,2 5,6 Market Market
