Scott Embry’s Friday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on March 31, 2021March 31, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 JOLLY LACE gets her chance in this 1400m maiden. She took her Esperance maiden form to Kal last Saturday when finishing off better than anything. Fingers crossed from the draw she doesn’t get spat out the back because if she leaves cleanly, she looks to have found a nice race on the quick back-up. AURAE is a frustrating mare. She clearly has enough ability to break maiden status but continues to loom and not win. WATTOS REWARD was eye catching in a few races late in the Esperance season. MAGIC OF ZEUS did it tough last week when deep throughout. Numbers: 7 – 5 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – JOLLY LACE WIN RACE 2 STARALIGN went through the grades brilliantly when last in work. After joining the stables of MR Peter Fernie won four races and was rarely far from the action. Slight concern that 1200m is on the short side for him but trusting the region’s leading yard to have him ready to go first-up no trial. ANOTHER DEMON will give him something to run down. Well placed here and was more than competitive last week. If he leads again, he’s hard to run down. MR GENOA gives Tyla Beker her first race ride. Has looked handy at trials so fingers crossed she can make an impact at her first meeting. LITTLE HERCULES next best. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – STARALIGN WIN RACE 3 KNIGHT TEMPEST returned with a bang last Saturday. He is the kind of horse who has always looked capable of going right through the grades in Kalgoorlie and winning 70+ races (and even being competitive in town). On the quick back-up he can definitely make it two from two to start the prep. RAPID EYE MOVEMENT is no slouch and she’ll make her presence felt. Dave Smith is a stable you can trust to have them fit enough to fire and her best is definitely good enough. NICKLAUS doesn’t seem to get around Kalgoorlie that well. Small field helps his cause. ALCINA broke 33 her final 600. Flying since joining Josh Brown got hold of her. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – KNIGHT TEMPEST WIN RACE 4 BLISTER IN THE SUN looks the testing material here. Won an Esperance maiden first-up and since then has been competitive in strong C2 events. Ran fourth behind Wim Creek and Dirty Dot, ran into talented stablemate Neurologic and then most recently finished fourth behind Dirty Dot and opening Kal meeting winner Alcina. Form all stacks up and from the draw stalks stablemate Guarded. ROSEICAPILLA is capable of sprinting well off the back of a solid tempo from a soft draw. GUARDED belted limited opposition last start. Scary to think he didn’t reach maiden 1100m average time and the others were beaten out of sight. NO STOPPING ME NOW has always been consistent. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – BLISTER IN THE SUN RACE 5 TALK IT UP has trialled like he won’t be a maiden for long. Well related colt on debut from a family that MR Peter and Andrew Inglis have raced with great success. From what he showed in the trials in the metro area he should be going to Kalgoorlie and buying Easter Eggs or Bush Chooks for the punters on course. DOUBLE RUSH was the second horse past the post behind dominant winner Guarded. With many rivals coming from that exact same form line he gives Tyla Becker the opportunity to jump, run and win. Ideal horse to be putting a 4kg claimer aboard. SAINT CLEMENTS finds a new home with Jeff Eeles. Metro form should hold up regardless of how far she’s been beaten. KEEP THE SPOT one to keep an eye on fresh. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 9 – 8 Suggested Bet – DOUBLE RUSH WIN RACE 6 TOURNIQUET ran second to Balladeer, second to Whim Creek and then won well on Esperance Cup Day when gunning down Neurologic. That form should hold up well and he has shown that he can win at Kalgoorlie fresh in the past (winner off 51 days). Takes beating from the ideal draw. CLOAK AND DAGGER ran well last week and should get all the favours from the inside draw. BLOOMS can be a hard mare to run down if they allow her to cross from the outside gate. Jump and run type. PURE MAGNUS is well placed in this grade. If he is ready to go it may pay to follow the money. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – TOURNIQUET WIN RACE 7 NEAT ACTION and TRILLIONAIRE met last week at the opening meeting over 1400m in this same grade. With the riding engagements there is a 3kg weight swing in the favour of Trillionaire so with only a narrow margin last weekend TRILLIONAIRE can turn the tables. Looking for further but if settling within striking distance will take beating. NEAT ACTION should be a handy acquisition for Cambana Lodge. Has raced well in tougher races in town. FAIR ONE is holding form and this is a great use of the Snaggers Sardelic claim. HUSSTARR honest and consistent. Numbers: 7 – 5 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – TRILLIONAIRE WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 4 3,6 1,2,3,5,6 1,5,7 Market Market
