Scott Embry’s Friday Esperance Preview Posted on January 13, 2022January 13, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 FLYING ARABIAN is produced first-up no trial by new trainer Michelle Blanke. Last seen at Pinjarra when finishing third behind Wardian and Starlift. Finished only 1L off those two and showed serious speed. You would think from the inside draw it will be jump and run and hold on late for Jess Gray and Flying Arabian. LOST SMILE was a nice recent trial winner at Esperance. Fiona Scott’s yard is just starting to warm up. WITCHS CAULDRON went back to trials after last start. Both trials have been good. THE TRUE KING hasn’t shown much at trials but Brad Rawiller gives him a fighting chance. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – FLYING ARABIAN WIN RACE 2 DOUBLE SPICE should just keep winning and going through the grades for Neil Dellar. Had to wait 28 days for him to go round again after his dominant Esperance debut. Going off his two 60+ Graduation placings at Pinjarra and Ascot and his 66+ fourth behind Notorious One, Vital Blast and Giant Leap there is plenty more wins in him. Has run well fresh in the past and should be too strong late. NEOROLOGIC is the obvious danger as a jump and run commodity. Expecting her to give serious cheek. SAUVEGARDE is getting closer and closer. Probably has to sit outside of Neurologic which leaves her a sitting duck late. STRASMORE one to keep an eye on first-up. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – DOUBLE SPICE WIN RACE 3 BIG FISH finished a narrow third behind Just Striking and Rip and Snip first-up at 1400m. Second-up he meets Rip and Snip again and while there is no weight swing and there is an important riding change with Brad Rawiller heading down to Esperance for the first time. Expect him to come across and breeze outside of Rip and Snip and provided he does indeed get across he’ll be hard to hold out. RIP AND SNIP is knocking on the door and the maiden win isn’t far away. Should go mighty close again. VALENZA is still doing a bit wrong and Tracey Frizzell is forced to make a few gear changes. Ready to win. FAULT showed a turn of foot last start. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 10 – 8 Suggested Bet – BIG FISH WIN RACE 4 ALCINA is proving to be a great money spinner for Josh Brown. Drops 4kg after the claim of Holly Watson and like the fact she comes back into these 68+ races with weight relief. You know what you’ll get with this mare, she’ll let the race unfold in front of her and be saved for one last sprint in the home straight. Runs for Holly Watson and hasn’t run a bad race in 9 months. GREYWOLF gains the services of Brad Rawiller and should fire through to sit either outside Another Demon or even cross and find the top. Either way settles in the first handful and with the new rider looks to have found a suitable race. Has taken a while to find his legs again on the grass but off the back of his most recent effort he looks ready to win another one. GILLESPIE was a big improver last start. BALLADEER can improve off his first-up run. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – ALCINA WIN RACE 5 TUMIVET brings intrigue at his Helen Harding debut. There isn’t a great deal of natural pace in this race and if he was to jump cleanly and work his way to the top he might prove hard to catch. No doubt he’ll be better suited over 1400/1600/1800 later in the season but see no reason why he can’t pinch one first-up for the new yard. TOWN HALL is first-up for John Arthur Mason. He’s a genius J.A. Mason, 39 runners, 8 winners, 20.5% strike rate at 51.5% POT. Keep very safe. LEADING MAN has been running good races and finishing on the heels of the placegetters in harder races than this. Looks a nice assignment for him. BOLSHOI GAL can be hit and miss but the best of her is good enough. Numbers: 4 – 9 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – TUMIVET WIN RACE 6 WHEATSTACK THEIF has been a revelation this preparation. Won first-up to break maiden status and then was eye-catching a few times from the back of the field at his next few in blackbook performances. He is finally drawn a half decent gate to work with and this looks the right race for him. Steps out to a mile, can settle a pair or two closer in the run and fingers crossed he opens a backable price. Worth having something on. THE CAT RATCHER is only second-up but it won’t take long for him to win another one you’d think. Anywhere between 1600 and 2200 in this grade is winnable for the old boy. WATTOS REWARD reserved the win last start. She’ll take beating again. BLUE TURNS TO GREY should get left alone out in front. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – WHEATSTACK THEIF WIN RACE 7 BALDERDASH has been honest and consistent throughout his career. Never far from the winner and always running on late in his races. Josh Brown steps him out to a mile (tick), convinces leading jockey Lisa Staples to jump aboard (big tick) and finds a race with a genuine tempo where he should be some chance of slotting in midfield with cover. Best chance yet to break through. KENNY THE KING is getting very close. Drops back sharply in trip and that might be a good thing for him. CENSURE continues to run slick closing sections but does too much wrong early. ABOARD has teased for too long. Enough is enough. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – BALDERDASH WIN RACE 8 WARZACHANTZ, Lisa Staples and Gary Burger just keep winning this season. Lisa Staples has had 29 rides for 14 winners this season (48% strike rate at 97% POT #wild) and Gary Burger has had 11 starters for 7 winners (64% strike rate at 120% POT). Combine the pair and Lisa Staples has had 10 rides for Gary Burger for 7 winners. Simply ludicrous statistics and the reason why he’ll go on top again. FAIR JUSTICE is having a great season in the region. She should position up just behind Warzachantz and almost follow her every move in running. COLD AS COLD is ready. The second to I Am Spartacus looks good for this with that galloper running well in the Fitzpatrick Plate at odds. EUROGEM caught the eye at her WA debut. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 9 – 11 Suggested Bet – WARZACHANTZ WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 4,5,9 1,2,4,8 2,3,5,6 5,6,9 Market Market
