Scott Embry’s Friday Ascot Preview Posted on April 16, 2025April 16, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SKY DUKE has been kncking on the door all prep and this looks another winnable race for him. Still hold the feeling that at this stage of his career 1100/1200 might be a better trip for him but provided that he can hold up early under Brayden Gaerth he should be in front for a long way. The Jaz Session form continues to hold up. OSCAR CHARLIE is coming out of 46+ and 52+ racing at Narrogin but he’s been carrying weight and was simply dominant last start. New horse under Aaron Pateman. ORACLE SUN can do a bit wrong but he’s more than capable. SNIPPY WHICH will get back and flash late. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – SKY DUKE WIN RACE 2 HAIDA GWAII simply could not have trialled up any better for her return to racing. The market loved her when last in work and expect it will be a similar scenario here at her first-up. Can zip over with Lucky I Am from out wide. LUCKY I AM has run minors to Street Band, Catch Carter/Magnique, Black Ora and Amaroo Star. Has to be a win in the filly soon given her high speed rating pattern. PEGGYS LASS ran a cheeky race on debut in a C1 back in Feb 2024 and can park and ride the speed. ROYAL DEFENSE a watch at his WA debut. Numbers: 9 – 7 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – HAIDA GWAII WIN RACE 3 HELIOS AMIGOS won a Bunbury Sandfibre trial by 1.6L and then ran into a really sharp maiden down the straight in his second trial behind Admire The Girl. This is not a strong maiden and going to trust the eye from trials and suggest he can win this. Looks to have ability. EARL IT IS is still very green but from barrier 1 he’s given the opportunity to kick through and lead. VILLAGE GODDESS had excuses on debut and should have finished closer. DARK OPAL ran a cheeky race down the straight behind the speedy Niccimota. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 12 – 10 Suggested Bet – HELIOS AMIGOS WIN RACE 4 EXCEED THE PLANET jumps off the page. 1L off West Star and September Born in the Belgravia, half a length off September Born in the Fairetha and then 3L off Storyville, The Merryman and Olympic Park in a WA Guineas. Back into a maiden first-up and asked for little in a recent trial. MA MA BELLE ran second to Belta Of A Song on debut when luckless and that mare went onto win her next three. APHRODITE MAGIC comes back in grade out of a pair of 3 year old 0MWLY races and drops 1kg in weight. OLD MATE HENRY has shown enough in his two trials to command respect. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 9 – 6 Suggested Bet – EXCEED THE PLANET WIN RACE 5 MAGNIQUE is a maiden filly in a C1. Normally a big no from me, however, Simon Miller has done this multiple times with success previously. She’s a sharp filly with a bit of versatility to her racing and expect she’ll more than hold her own here. NICCIMOTA is an all or nothing filly. She’s one of the fastest horses in WA over 800m and then starts to paddle. Like the use of the Brayden Gaerth 2kg claim to keep the weight off her back. Wish Outlaw Music wasn’t drawn underneath her. DE GRANDHOMME sits back and does his best work late. HOBELAR won well fresh and then gave zilch second-up. Numbers: 7 – 8 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – MAGNIQUE WIN RACE 6 TRUE BLUE BONDI won his maiden by 4L eased down. Would have preferred if he was out in distance rather than back in distance, but he’s still found a more than winnable race. Could prove to be a more than capable 3 year old who works his way quickly through the lower grades. WEMBANYAMA sat closer from an inside draw last start and couldn’t show the same turn of foot. Think they can ride him midfield from the draw. PRINCESS IN RED is accepted for Wednesday Pinjarra and Friday Ascot. Think she’ll race Friday. SPORTS TALK is always a chance. Numbers: 8 – 4 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – TRUE BLUE BONDI WIN RACE 7 KEGGS LATER won like a handy midweek stayer 9 days ago. He pulled right away from them late to win by an extending 2.5L margin. Similar level of opposition and likely to get a similar run in transit. MODELISTIC broke her maiden and then was too strong for them in C2 company in Albany when going back to back. Went to a 66+ last start and was still only 5L off Weeraechoux and finished right alongside subsequent winner Queen Of Jerusalem. ZERA BLUE has turned a corner and gets 2kg on Keggs Later. BIG SWOOP can cross to lead. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 13 – 3 Suggested Bet – KEGGS LATER WIN RACE 8 WATCH ME ROCK is going from strength to strength. He loomed like he was going to win by 3L in the Old Comrade but didn’t put them away the way Grant & Alana Williams or William Pike would have liked. That would explain the gear change with blinkers swapped for visors and this looks another lovely stepping stone towards a tilt at the 2025 Railway Stakes. CURRIMUNDI is the testing material and the proven class in the race. 61.5kg and back 500m are serious levellers though. FLURO NEURO is on trial at 1800m but flying. ANGEL UNDERCOVER will need to be tucked away and saved up for one late burst. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – WATCH ME ROCK WIN RACE 9 DUG ANOTHER HOLE has come of age this campaign. He’s gone from a maiden win to a C1 win to a C5 win all in the last 2 months and this looks a very winnable race for him. He was brave under 61.5kg last start when nabbed late. Looks on paper like he will cross and if not then he parks outside Chantel and controls. Either way, hard to beat. THE SPRUIKER is well suited to this grade of racing and is dangerous with the right run in transit. PLAYING QUEST hasn’t had much luck recently. FORTUNE’S LUCK is going super but the gate hurts. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 9 – 8 Suggested Bet – DUG ANOTHER HOLE WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,4,8 2,3,6,7,13 2 2,3 Market Market
