Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on April 17, 2025April 17, 2025 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 MARBEECHSAM (3) overcame a backline draw to break through for a well-deserved victory at his last start and the rise in class tonight is offset by his nice barrier. KINGSEAT (6) has the best form in the race and is an obvious danger but it looks like he will have to work hard in the run. SIDSTREPO (2) should cross the polemarker and has options after that and he did finish 2nd to MARBEECHSAM (3) at his last start. SPIRITOFANANGEL (1) doesn’t have the gate speed to use the pole draw but he shouldn’t settle too far back and can be dangerous if she gets out at the right time. Tips: 3 6 2 1 Suggested Bet: MARBEECHSAM (3) to win. Race 2 BETTORS PRIDE (4) showed great speed to cross from a similar draw when an impressive winner at his last start and he will be hard to catch if he finds the front again. RUMBLE STRIP (2) was a $1.07 favourite in that event but was forced to face the breeze and fought on gallantly for 2nd. He can turn the tables if he can muster more speed and hold up at the start. BELLY UP (8) and GAITCRASHER (9) have similar form lines and both will become winning chances if there is an early speed burn. Tips: 4 2 8 9 Suggested Bet: BETTORS PRIDE (4) to win. Race 3 DAWSON (9) crosses the Nullabor with good Victorian form and looks the class runner of this field but barrier nine at GP has brought many interstate horses undone in the past. BETTOR ARADE (8) wasn’t suited by a moderate tempo last week but can be put into the race tonight if the tempo suites. YA BETTOR FOLLOWME (3) has been racing well on the country circuit and will give them something to catch if he can find the front. ADDA SPOILT MAJOR (6) has been placed at his last two starts in stronger company and can figure again. Tips: 9 8 3 6 Suggested Bet: DAWSON (9) to win. Race 4 MISTER SMARTEE (8) looked back to his best when a comfortable 1.54.0 winner here last week. He is drawn outside of his main rival but has the advantage of race fitness and he should fight out the finish. CATCH A WAVE (5) is first-up without a trial but he should be forward in condition with the Nullabor only a week away. He has the barrier advantage and will be hard to beat if he can maintain that in the early stages. HOPPYS WAY (1) and EL CHEMA (10) don’t have the class of the favoured pair but they are drawn on the pegs and that could be the place to be in a very likely quick last half. Tips: 8 5 1 10 Suggested Bet: MISTER SMARTEE (8) to win. Race 5 AARDIEBYTHESEASIDE (6) has an amazing record and was beaten but far from disgraced when 3rd to WONDERFUL TO FLY (5) at her last start. She was forced to run a quick lead time and first quarter on that occasion and she will be very hard to beat if she can control the race without burning as much petrol tonight. PENNY BLACK (9) is absolutely flying and has the strength to overcome the wide draw but the depth of this field will mean she could be susceptible. WATER LOU (7) hasn’t been at her best but can be driven cold in this event and looks over the odds. Tips: 6 9 2 7 Suggested Bet: AARDIEBYTHESEASIDE (6) to win. Race 6 IDEAL MUSCLE (3) has been placed in all four starts this time in and he will give them something to catch if he finds the front but it is his first attempt at the stand. STAR CASINO (9) likes the stand and his versatility should see him thereabouts whichever way the race is run. THE LITTLEMASTER (5) is likely to be driven softly and will be charging home at each way odds. SPYGLAS (11) has a 40m handicap to overcome but he is flying and can win if he gets the right cart into the race. Tips: 3 9 5 11 Suggested Bet: IDEAL MUSCLE (3) to win. Race 7 THE BIG KABOOSH (2) was a good all-the-way winner in easier company two starts back before hitting the line nicely when 2nd at Bunbury. He is drawn inside his main rival tonight and he will be clearly the one to beat if he can maintain that advantage and take up the running. DON DIABLO (3) would be extremely hard to beat if he led and probably has more gate speed than THE BIG KABOOSH (2) but it is questionable that he can cross drawn alongside him. SHALINI (9) has been placed in all four starts this time in but has a tough draw to overcome. WANDERIN STAR (10) is an improving type who can be placed. Tips: 2 3 9 10 Suggested Bet: THE BIG KABOOSH (2) to win. Race 8 HUGOTASTIC (6) has impressed in winning all three WA starts and is clearly the one to beat again. MENEMSHA (7) was beaten but not disgraced when a 2.4m 2nd to the smart Justcallmemiki and looks a great chance to fill the quinella position again. RUBY LOU (1) doesn’t have the class of the favoured runners but she looks a great place chance from the pole. FLOEWRITER (9) is right up with the favoured pair on ability but the draw makes it very tough. Tips: 6 7 1 9 Suggested Bet: HUGOTASTIC (6) to win. Race 9 PATCHED (9) and CHUMANI (8) fought out a mobile event here last week and PATCHED (9) prevailed after having the softer run. They go to 40m and 50m handicaps tonight but still appeal as the ones to beat and I’ll side with PATCHED (9) because he has that slightly better point to point speed. BONNIE RAE (1)_ and MAJESTIC MARION (2) are both last start winners who go up in class but can give cheek with their handicap advantage. Tips: 9 8 1 2 Suggested Bet: PATCHED (9) to win. Market Market
