Scott Embry’s Friday Albany Preview Posted on May 7, 2020May 5, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 CATIA has had 18 chances to break her maiden but this looks one of her better opportunities in her short career. From the gate Laqdar Ramoly can even kick her through to lead and she should be very hard to get past in the small field. MORGAN LE FAYE has shown glimpses in her career. This is her chance. RORY WHO resumes here and most of Sam Faithfull’s horses go well first-up. SUDDNLEY NOBLE looks the next best. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – CATIA WIN RACE 2 FANGIO ran a great race on debut at 1000m and steps straight up to 1500. Roy Rogers yard has been in form all season and since returning from injury Alan Kennedy has been riding parituclarly well. They team up here and should be hard to beat. BLONDE WARRIOR has her second start for Liam O’Loughlin and this filly can win races. MY NAMES STAR is going alright and Brodie Kirby is quickly becoming the best rider in Albany (if he already isn’t). RETURN A SMILE next best but will need luck from the draw. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet – FANGIO WIN RACE 3 CAPTIVATED POINT gets in with only 58kg which is a luxury for a horse of his ability. From the gate he should settle midfield with cover and gets 5.5kg pull on Tranquilla Sunrise. Should hold the firepower to get over him late. TRANQUILLA SUNRISE goes up a remarkable 7.5kg coming back to Albany after a good third in metro grade at his most recent. Ever green 10 year old who looks to have more wins in his old legs but with 63.5kg he is vulnerable. SENSO is going well and comes back in distance. OUR BUDDY BOY in a similar vein. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – CAPTIVATED POINT WIN RACE 4 SPICULUS ran a ripper first-up and then drew a horror alley at his second-up run. Coming back to the short course and drawn a little kinder in gate 7 (still not easy) he can improve and be right in the finish. IBIZA is jump and run and Kristy Bennett rides her better than a anyone. SHESPOCKET ROCKET is a 1000m mare. She is a big improver at the trip. DANEHILL TSORM carries big weights every week but is particularly consistent. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – SPICULUS WIN RACE 5 COLD AS COLD took a few runs this campaign to really hit his straps but is now in form and this looks another very suitable race for him. From the gate Kirby can have him within striking distance and he should prove hard to hold out. LORD KRONOS looked to have found a suitable race last start and was $7 into $2.60 when not really showing his best. Comes back in grade and gets the claim of Victoria Corver, keep him in the front of your mind. CHASING CHAOS is always a winning chance in races like this. LONG KNIFE BORHTER capable on his day. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – COLD AS COLD WIN RACE 6 KENDELS MEE DAD was backed heavily at his first start for Roy Rogers yard. He duly saluted and now stays in the same grade and carries an identical weight after the claim for in form apprentice Beaux Edwards. From the gate he should enjoy a soft run and this looks another great race for him. STARAUTHORESS has run two good races since joining Peter Western’s yard. Will need luck but has ability. MYFIRLFRANKIE can never be underestimated and wins one soon. CAMPAIGN an improver. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 10 Suggested Bet – KENDELS MEE DAD WIN RACE 7 MAGIC OPUS is a consistent mare when she can settle on the speed. She did exactly that two starts ago when dominating from the front and if Jade McNaught can jump her out she likely settles outside Little Punga. Winnable position. LITTLE PUNGA is just so consistent and genuine. Has been racing all season (14th start) but shows no signs of training off. STARORIO is a nice mare resuming and from the gate should enjoy the right run in transit. KILKENNY JOE never competitive first-up. Mad one for wider novelties. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – MAGIC OPUS WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,4,5,6 1,2,3 1,4,5,8,10 1,2,3 Market Market
