RACE 5 No. 1 Viridine

Perfectly placed tomorrow facing easier opposition than he’s met at both starts this time in. Solid efforts behind sprinting stars Redzel and In Her Time beaten smallish margins drops back to 3yo company tomorrow looking very well placed under the set weights conditions of the race. He looks all set to improve on his terrific record here where he’s won 2 of 3 with one of those being over tomorrow’s distance.

RACE 6 No. 2 Hiyaam

One of tomorrow’s features is the Group 1 Australian Oaks for the fillies where I’m more than happy to be in this one’s corner. Placed in the VRC Oaks at Flemington in the spring she was a dominant winner of the Vinery last time out running through the line very strongly at the end of the 2000m. From the inside gate she’ll lead and prove very hard to run down.

RACE 8 No. 1 Almandin

Back to his best at Rosehill in the 2400m Tancred last start there’s no reason he can’t win tomorrow’s Sydney Cup over the staying 3200m trip. Of course we know he’s had a couple of goes over the distance in the last two Melbourne Cups having landed the big one back in 2016. Damian Oliver replaces Kerrin McEvoy tomorrow as McEvoy is riding the stablemate at the lighter 51kg weight.
