Narrogin Preview: Smith And Harvey Set To Dominate Posted on January 25, 2016 | Posted by Julio Santarelli Trainer Lindsey Smith and form jockey, Paul Harvey, are well placed to dominate the Narrogin programme when they combine in six of the eight races on Tuesday. Smith confidently declared on TABradio that, Stub ‘N’ Cow, a Casino Prince mare, would be hard to beat in race seven: the Movie Night Tonight Handicap (1100m). The four-year-old is in search of a second consecutive victory after shedding her maiden status when resuming down the Pinjarra straight on January 10. She burst through the pack to edge out No Mean Feet by a head margin, posting her first win after two placings in her maiden campaign last year. Smith believes Stub ‘N’ Cow has the potential to develop into a Perth horse and with fitness and from barrier two, said she will be hard to beat. “She just wins,” Smith said. “She always tries her hardest and has come on since that run. “I think you will find the horse that ran second to her is not a bad horse. “I think she will just box seat. “She is a mid-week horse and I expect her to win there.” Bombs Away has his fair share of ability and resumes in the Pie Eating Competition Handicap (930m) after winning his only two races last year. The War Chant gelding won on debut at Belmont by 2 ¼ lengths, backed up with a fighting win over Dark Love before being tipped out for a spell. The talented three-year-old looks primed for his return after third placings in two trials at Lark Hill and Belmont respectively, but Smith says he has concerns. “I was disappointed in his trial at Lark Hill, he blew quite a lot and that’s why I backed him up at Belmont, but I thought he was ordinary in that trial,” Smith said. “I thought he wasn’t a bad horse after winning those two races last year, but I fell for the trap of babysitting him and it’s blown up in my face a bit. “Don’t be surprised to see Buster’s Secret bob up because she can hum along and the distance will suit her.” Smith has a high opinion of Massachusetts and should get it validated when she resumes in the Australian Pride Maiden (1100m). The Stratum filly has gone around twice with a sound third to The Cobbla when on debut at Belmont last year a portent of things to come. She pulled up sore after running seventh to Rosmartini, but looks primed after a close fifth to Black Dynamite in a 950m Lark Hill trial. The form reference positive with Black Dynamite running a slashing second behind smart three-year-old Rhi’s Rocket at Ascot last Saturday. “I would think Massachusetts will come to town at least on a Wednesday and win some races,” Smith said. “She is a better horse than Narrogin.” Two Silver Trees has drawn the extreme outside gate in the Thong Toss Maiden (930m), but rates strongly on debut after impressive trial form. “She is quite quick like her mother and she will most probably sit outside of the leader if she doesn’t lead,” Smith said. “She is going to be hard to beat.” Smith says So Ambitious will handle top weight of 60kg and expects the gelding to maintain his excellent form in the Lucky Country Handicap (1760m). The son of Celtus won at Pinjarra (2000m) two starts back and fell a length short of Pollonize when runner-up over the same trip at Bunbury last December. “He is an honest horse who whacks away,” Smith said. “He has won at Narrogin before so the track is not an issue. “I don’t think the weight will come into it when you have Paul Harvey. “He is a good chance.”
