Michael Spark’s Saturday Singapore Preview Posted on November 18, 2022November 18, 2022 | Posted by Michael Spark Race 1 An open affair to kick off proceedings. Fireworks has been attacking the line well in slowly run races, a more genuine tempo could see him run over the top of them for the premiership leading jockey/trainer combination of Manoel Nunes & Tim Fitzsimmons. Donna Logan who is 4 winners behind in the premiership has Eastiger on the quick back up after only being overhauled late last week. Gets the 4kg claim of S Jamil and will no doubt take some catching in front. AJ Golden Sixtyone finds himself in a winnable grade. Bionics looked home at the turn last week but couldn’t get the job done. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 4 – 9 Race 2 Win Win was good first up chasing home a smart one in South Of The River. Tricky gate for Vlad Duric to contend with but hopefully can come across and sit outside War Warrior who looks the likely leader. Deception was heavily supported last start when saluting. The gelding looks to get the gun run from barrier 2 and if they overdo it up front, can run over the top of them. Fadaboy and Strong N Smart are two to consider for exotics. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 4 – 3 Race 3 God’s Gift is on the quick back up after hitting the line well last week. Blinkers go back on, expect them to be more positive from barrier 1 and utilize the 4kg claim. Big Day needs things to fall his way with his racing pattern but has been racing consistently. Super Talent was fair last start but run prior was good enough to figure in the finish. Numbers: 1 – 9 – 6 – 2 Race 4 Street Of Dreams could not have been more impressive winning his past two starts since having a wind operation. Had a trial last week to tick him over for this and looked super. Will be short in the market but looks hard to beat with any luck. Born To Win has been racing ultra-consistently, Jamie Kah will no doubt give him every chance from the good gate. Legacy Fortune may get an uncontested lead depending on which Ima turns up. Ima has had plenty of barrier issues over his career but IF he jumps can be somewhere in the finish. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 8 Race 5 Ejaz is a progressive 3yo against the older horses here. Won his past two starts in great style, form has stacked up since and times have rated very well. With clear running he looks very hard to beat. Sacred Judgment hasn’t won in over 12 months but will find this easier than last start. Congaree is on the quick back up after hitting the line well, extra 200m looks a positive. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 9 – 11 Race 6 Very open race where nothing would surprise. Doesn’t look a huge amount of speed on paper. Legacy Reign should find a soft lead and expect Billy Elliot to sit outside it. Bayliss and Duric will try and dictate the race to suit them. Billy Elliot was good in this company last start and the extra trip suits. Intrepid is as honest as they come, will get back and attack the line but needs everything to go her way to win. Diamond Beauty falls into the same category. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 2 – 8 Race 7 Melbourne Cup winning jockey Mark Zahra takes the reins on Lucky Charm who has been super at his past two starts. The son of Maurice is showing his true potential since they’ve been riding him with a sit off the speed. He jumps up in grade but believe he is more than capable at this level. Logan stable has called on fellow kiwi Mick Dee for Winning Stride. Forgive last start he was slow away and then pushed forward, ended up racing wide without cover. Nice trial last week attacking the line and right in this. Shane Baertschiger may have a smokey here down in the weights with Fight On who carries the minimum. Has kept improving each start, will need luck from the wide gate but gets a 2kg pull in the weights against January who defeated him last start. Numbers: 2 – 9 – 4 – 8 Race 8 My Man drops back in grade here and has a found a winnable race. Held up slightly last start but still run through the line nicely. Will be a long way back from the barrier but with any luck will be storming home late. Luxury Brand was good winning a similar affair last start beating Kick. Makes his own luck on pace and with the claim 2kg claim will take some catching. Kick meets Luxury Brand better at the weights and should get every chance sitting just off the speed. No More Delay looks to be getting somewhat back to his best form and worth some thought down in the weights. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 12 Race 9 Super race with majority of Singapore’s best sprinters engaged. Golden Monkey was unlucky in the Lion City Cup not to finish closer to Lim’s Kosciuszko. Has trialed well leading into this, meets him 7kg better at the weights. Decent barrier and gun Jockey Craig Williams to do the steering, A lot of positives. Lim’s Kosciusko has won two Group 1’s at his past 2 starts and will no doubt make him work for it. Nice quiet trial leading into this and an invitation to the Hong Kong International Sprint could be on the cards if he happens to win today. King Arthur has been a real up and comer this season, as honest as they come, and no doubt will be there when the whips are cracking. Rocket Star has been a real eye catcher at the trials, hasn’t missed a drum in all first up runs. Barrier a slight concern but will make his presence felt. Numbers: 8 – 5 – 3 – 2 Race 10 Pacific Star hasn’t had a huge amount of luck at his past two starts after being caught wide. Blinkers come of today, from the good gate should be able to sit just off the speed and show a nice turn of foot. Dream Alliance has been backed off the map at his past two starts and has won both very well. Tricky gate to overcome. Trident also has a wide barrier to overcome but is racing in good form. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 1 – 4 Race 11 Handicap conditions so looking at those down in the weights for the Group 1. The Fitzsimmons stable look to have there 3 peaking at the right time. Mr Black Back has been very impressive in his 3 starts in Singapore. Craig Williams flies into ride and is looking to win the Cup for the 3rd time. From barrier 2 he can sum it up if he wants to lead or take a sit just off the speed. Super Impact tried holding Cyclone out on a limb last start and they went along early like a sprint race. Forgive both. Dee who was airborne over the Melbourne Spring Carnival can get into a lovely spot-on Super Impact who looks like will stay all day. Stewart will need some luck from gate 16 on Cyclone but has good enough turn of foot to overcome that. Relentless was held up last start but expected him to attack the line more than he did once he got clear running. The track was very firm on the day so happy to forgive and has shown he is more than capable at this level. Plenty of other chances but have settled on those four. Numbers: 15 – 10 – 14 – 16 Race 12 Very open race to finish the day. The two speed horses have drawn 1 & 2 in Nepean and Ironchamp. Nepean hasn’t raced in this class since 2018, connections will be hoping the heavens open for his swansong. Ironchamp is up in grade after his last start win but has performed well at this level in the past. Majority of the runners come out of the same race last start. Quarterback attacked the line well but doesn’t win out of turn. Boomba finished on its heels but from a better gate today can be much closer in the run. Vgor got shuffled back on the inside and was solid through the line. Go wide in the Quaddie if you’re taking one as it looks a nice chook raffle. Good Luck. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 2 – 4 Market Market
