Scott Embry’s Saturday Esperance Preview Posted on November 18, 2022December 2, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 PROFIT POCKET had her first start over 1000m at Northam when racing wide throughout and only beaten 4.4L by Trionfante, Magnalee and Buster’s Free. Drops 3kg off that effort and goes from a Provincial maiden to a Country maiden and is drawn a better gate. Looks to have some upside and the vast majority of these have had their chance. ROCKING THE MERC has only had 7 starts and Josh Brown’s team have been going well over the last 6 months (*predicts text message “typo, should read years”). Danger. ISHINCA VIEW is a long time maiden but there abouts. VIVONNE BAY wasn’t too bad at trials. Numbers: 9 – 4 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – PROFIT POCKET WIN RACE 2 FAIR JUSTICE is race fit and goes well at Esperance. Third behind Prince of Promises and Blazing Tycoon, second behind Prize Pursuit beating home subsequent winner Love Drunk Baby and then third behind Love Drunk Baby and Jakestar. Back to Esperance, drawn a half decent gate and Tash Faithfull riding at Esperance over Ascot. Plenty to like. BALLADEER finished third in a C5 1100 at Northam two starts ago behind Queenship and Forest War. Rates up well for this and has a big Esperance track record. EMERALD ROSE turned a corner last preparation. CANTO DE GUERRA should be a nice pick up for the region. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – FAIR JUSTICE WIN RACE 3 NITRO FRED had three starts for Josh Brown after an initial preparation with Jim Taylor. His best two runs of his career have probably been his first two fresh runs. Might be a fresh is best type and even though the dreaded bars go on, so do the blinkers. Nice race for him. STREET WISE RED has had excuses in two runs to date but certainly hasn’t quite lived up to his impressive trials. Looks speedy but hasn’t quite left the machine well enough to charge to the top and find the fence at the races. Shouldn’t be a maiden too long. TALKABOTYOU has been there abouts preparation after preparation. FAST FLICKER might need the run. Numbers: 2 – 10 – 1 – 12 Suggested Bet – NITRO FRED WIN RACE 4 BLAZING PASSION joins the stables of Gary Burger who had a wonderful and dominant 2021 Esperance season. Only won 1 from 20 but finished second in a pair of 46+ races at York and has shown glimpses on occasion. Nice race for her. FIENDISH won at the last Kalgoorlie meeting when winning a C2 over No Whispering and Basil’s Dream. Provided he can hold form he’ll be hard to beat again. BOOZEROO got the job done at Kalgoorlie last start. Just. SAASMIT should be a nice pick up for Colin Haddon. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – BLAZING TYCOON WIN RACE 5 WESTERNIZE won back to back 58+ races at Kalgoorlie before finishing midfield after being slowly away only beaten 4.5L by the highly progressive Pedal Power. Given a freshen for the return to Esperance and this is a nice assignment for him. He’s versatile but should land in a prominent position and go well. ANOTHER DEMON has come back to a rating point where he gets in on the minimum in a 64+. Has more wins in store cand should get a gun run. WHIM CREEK destroyed them in the Leonora Sprint but hasn’t quite reproduced yet. NOBLE REFLECTION carries top weight and is drawn the outside. Few negatives but Burger/Staples was a recipe for cash last season. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – WESTERNIZE WIN RACE 6 TRANSLUCENT looked really impressive winning her maiden back in January. Was racing first-up, no trial off almost a year away from racing. Drawn to get a gun run. Think that she can return a winner in the same manner here. TWICE LUCKY won a C1 C&G at Northam over 1400m in October 2021. Hasn’t done much racing in the last 12 months and clearly has a few issues here and there but at his best he’s a nice Esperance animal. The fact Josh Brown has booked Tash Faithfull rather than claiming has caught the attention. WINSALOT should be winning races at Esperance this preparation. MISS BRIGHTON going well. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet – TRANSLUCENT WIN RACE 7 WINSALOT didn’t get any luck last start. Held up from straightening until shifted inwards at the 200 but by that stage the winner Just Striking was off and gone and Winsalot had no momentum up. Was a follow me type of run. COUNT GRUNDY was a tough watch at Kalgoorlie when well supported in betting and copped a shifting saddle. Should be able to win a few races in Kal/Esperance for his new connections. WHEATSTACK THEIF is super talented. Can do a few things wrong but at his best he’s more than up to it. JUST STRIKING returned well when scoring soft late. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – WINSALOT WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,2,10 1,3,6,9 1,5,4,7 1,7 Market Market
