Michael Heaton’s Thursday Pinjarra Preview Posted on December 14, 2022March 10, 2023 | Posted by Michael Heaton RACE 1 ARNRAY gets one more chance. He’s now a 15-start maiden who has become frustrating to follow but he has a lot in his favour for this type of race. Has been racing well all campaign and should appreciate a smaller field size and being drawn off the fence so hopefully J Brown is the man to get him over the line. FEARLESS GOD has improved throughout his preparation and finished only a half-length behind Arnray last start. He can roll forward to settle prominently in the run and looks the obvious danger. MAKIN PROPHETS steps up to a staying journey for the first time and looks a grinding type who may appreciate the trip. AMMISHADDAI makes his WA debut and brings alternate form. Looks like he needs every bit of 2200m and beyond. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – ARNRAY WIN Same Race Multi – Arnray (Top 2) + Fearless God (Top 4) RACE 2 STAR POWER has failed at both starts when stepping up to 1200m but has run well at her last three starts over 1000m. Ran (6.8L) second to Wild Belle three starts ago, was only beaten on the line two starts ago and has been freshened up since being finishing a long way back over 1200m last time out. Scratched from Belmont yesterday in preference for this and has drawn the right side of the straight course. MAKE MINE SUPER trialled well before a luckless race debut in July but still finished that race off well once clear. The recent trial was solid and he appears to have some ability. INDIE RULER had no luck first-up when doing a tonne of work three-deep but still finishing fifth to Deetea and subsequent winners Lucky Sue and Scenic Eclipse. Ran well last start and gets C Parnham onboard here. ROCK THIS TOWN is a 4YO on debut off the back of some nice trials. Numbers: 8 – 5 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – STAR POWER WIN RACE 3 AUNTY JEAN is flying. Ran the fastest closing splits when second to subsequent Placid Ark Stakes placegetter Wild Belle (and beating home Sky Duke) and then drew the “wrong” side of the straight course when coming from near-last to run third at this track, grade and distance last start. She has now placed at both of her starts down the straight and has come up with the prized outside alley. UNIVERSAL BOY sees a straight circuit for the first time but looks a progressive type. ELEMENTARY HOLMES meets Aunty Jean 2.5kg better for beating her home down the straight course three starts ago, albeit from a more favourable run. THE GREAT HOYA had no luck in Saturday class last start and has raced in higher grade at nine of his 10 lifetime starts but is going well below his best at the moment. Numbers: 7 – 5 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – AUNTY JEAN WIN RACE 4 PADDY’S FLYIN’ ran the fastest last 600m, 400m and 200m sectionals of the day when coming from last in eye-catching fashion behind Art Of Sabrage. He still looks green and raw but should take natural benefit from the experience, the step to 1200m looks ideal and W Pike taking over on a sit-sprinter can’t be underestimated. SNAZZLER trialled up very nicely before getting caught in an awkward position between runners on debut. Found the line really well once clear and doesn’t look like being a maiden for long. IMPERIALIZE looks like a nice type and he has the tactical speed to slide across from an awkward draw to settle prominently. BLEECKER STREET next best. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – PADDY’S FLYIN WIN RACE 5 DIRTY CHAI’S recent trial win was hard to miss. Wasn’t asked for an effort until the 200m mark when bursting through a gap to win super impressively and she also won her only other public appearance back in August in nice style. Should get a lovely run midfield-with-cover and looks more than capable of scoring on debut. CRUCIAL METAL was unlucky not to win on debut at York in May when held-up at a crucial stage on straightening. Had vets excuses at her next run and her two recent trials (without blinkers) were solid. She gets blinkers added for the first time here and maps favourably. SCENERY was ridden cold from an awkward draw last start and savaged the line in the fastest last 400m and 200m splits of the day. He can position up closer from the better draw here. ONE SMART NUT improved in his most recent trial. Numbers: 8 – 6 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – DIRTY CHAI WIN RACE 6 PRINCE I THINK trialled up well for new trainer Jim Taylor before a promising first-up run. He was unsuited by a dawdling tempo that day but still attacked the line strongly to run third to Scenic Eclipse (who could make that form look better at Belmont on Wednesday). He’s green and raw but has always shown a level of ability and looks like he’ll improve with racing. ARGENT SAUVAGE jumped out of the ground late when resuming from a freshen-up and running second to Blue Eyed Girl. Liked his trials back in September and October and he gets a favourable map here. PICCADILLY ROSE beat home Prince I Think when settling handy to the speed last start. DESERT SLEEVE was probably only fair on debut off the back of a nice trial but he should have benefited from the outing. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 11 – 5 Suggested Bet – PRINCE I THINK WIN RACE 7 HINT OF MINT won a C5 1300m (same race as this) five starts ago and then has raced exclusively in Saturday grade, including the Listed Jungle Mist Classic and Listed Jungle Dawn Classic at her last two starts. Thought her run in the Jungle Dawn was quite good when switching back to the inside and making late ground to finish only 2.5L off Buzzoom, Gunmetal Grey and Vane Tempest and she’s the type of mare who should suit the roomier Scarpside circuit. VIA MONTE has been a hard horse to catch at times but he had everything fall into place when defeating Real Danger and Karalee Rocks in a Graduation last start. Will no doubt have a lot of admirers here despite the 60.5kg impost. AIRLIE QUEEN flies fresh and gets a significant weight pull on Via Monte and Hint Of Mint. CROSS STATEMENT is yet to recapture his best form this preparation. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – HINT OF MINT WIN RACE 8 SALACIA QUEEN caught the eye motoring through the line at her race return. She wasn’t suited by the 1300m or the slow tempo but she finished full of running and the step to 1600m looks ideal. She was a second-up winner over a mile last preparation and should get a nice run midfield-with-cover at each-way odds. MOJO RHYTHM trialled up very well for a staying type for new trainers Dan and Ben Pearce but never got into the race first-up at 1400m. Was probably a shade disappointing but expecting sharp improvement up to 1600m and dropping in class. He’s a Saturday 1600m winner who brings superior formlines to rivals from his last campaign. MAGICAL GEM received a peach from Brad Parnham when getting the job done at this track-distance last start but he has a sticky gate to overcome here. TIFF’S LAD was the target of big betting support last start and nearly pulled it off but simply can’t draw a barrier. Looks destined to do it tough in running here but can figure with luck in running. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – SALACIA QUEEN EACH-WAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 6,8 2,3,5,8,11 1,2,4,8 1,2,3,7,8 Market Market
