Michael Heaton’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on June 19, 2019June 19, 2019 | Posted by Michael Heaton Michael Heaton’s Preview Race 1 IT’S TIFFS makes her race debut off the back of only one trial but looked a speedy type. She can jump straight to the front from her inside draw here. SIRIUS MAGIC also makes his debut and is the full-brother to the multiple Group 1-winning Vega Magic. He has impressed at trials and appears to have ability but still looks quite green. SASSATIONAL looks suited dropping back from 1200m to 1000m and should be peaking, while DASH FOR KNICKERS can enjoy the run of the race from her good draw and improve. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – IT’S TIFFS WIN Race 2 MANHATTAN MONEY has easily the best exposed form to date and maps to enjoy a nice run about midfield. Hard-to-beat. Debutant ME NO MARSH MELLOW has impressed at trials and has drawn ideally, whilst also having the benefit of the in-form Jade McNaught’s 2kg claim. POINT TAKEN’s last two starts have only been fair but her previous effort was great and she maps to get the run of the race here. SKY FIVE is another first-starter who has trialled well but is likely to settle near-last from the outside draw. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – MANHATTAN MONEY WIN Race 3 YOURTHEONEFORME has had plenty of chances all over the state but may have found his race. He hit line well last start, can settle closer from the inside alley here and will appreciate Chloe Azzopardi’s 2kg claim. AL’S FAMOUS races first-up over 1600m but raced up to 2019m last preparation and recorded good figures. A forward showing fresh wouldn’t surprise. AHYOKA FROST has drawn wide but gave cheek at big odds when leading last start and can slide across to take up the running again here in a race without a great deal of speed. BEANNIE trialled better than appears on paper before his race debut last start and will appreciate the step up to a mile here. He’ll be doing his best work late. Numbers: 1– 9 – 10 – 5 Suggested Bet – YOURTHEONEFORME WIN Race 4 TESTA DE LAGO has drawn the outside and in only a 11-horse starting field he can slide across to settle close to the speed. He’s racing in consistent form and is due to break through. PHANDIERI has been doing her best work late in her last two outings and gives the impression she’ll appreciate the extra 100m here. VAGABOND BOY races second-up and wasn’t suited settling at the tail of his field after drawing the outside last start. His previous form was sound and he can improve sharply from the better draw here. AL CAPITANO resumes for a new stable and has always shown glimpses of talent. Numbers: 5– 10 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – TESTA DE LAGO WIN Race 5 PELICAN PICK had to work hard from the outside draw in a strong sectional race last time out and was a dominant winner over this track and distance three starts back. He maps to get a lovely run from the much better barrier here and can bounce back. MANKIND has his third start in the space of 15 days and has drawn awkwardly but is racing well. LICKETY SPLIT races first-up off the back of a nice trial and will appreciate a drop in class from previous preparations. SORDELLO also resumes, has won only two of 46 starts and his last win was exactly one year ago to the day, but he surprisingly has the best overall figures for this field and Pike rides. Numbers: 5 – 2 –1 – 7 Suggested Bet – PELICAN PICK WIN Race 6 PURE MAGNUS looks primed to win third-up from a spell. Her last two runs have been in hot 62+ Saturday races and she looks ideally-suited dropping back to a Class 3 54+ event here. RETOSONA resumes off the back of a nice trial win and maps to lob one-out, one-back. Is yet to place in four previous attempts first-up but the 1300m here suits. I’M ICEY backs-up off eight days and should get a gun run either leading or in the box seat. BLACK SHADOW was better last start and can slide across from his wide draw to settle on the speed. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – PURE MAGNUS WIN Race 7 BARBIE WILL DO has placed just once from 10 starts but looks suited having her third run in. She hit the line well after being momentarily held-up last start, can lob three-back-the fence here and Pike jumps aboard. BANTRY backs-up for the third consecutive week in a somewhat unorthodox tactic but JT Warwick’s horses generally relish the quick turnaround and the drop from 2000m to 1600m here is ideal. STORM TRADE hasn’t been far away this preparation and beat BARBIE WILL DO home last start but maps awkwardly from the sticky draw, while FRENCH TOAST also has a tough alley to overcome but should be prominent in running. Numbers: 2– 7 – 10 – 4 Suggested Bet – BARBIE WILL DO WIN Race 8 The consistent PLEAD THE FIFTH has recorded the best recent overall figures for this field and is bursting to win a race. She’ll be finishing off strong. PURE GEM was only beaten a long-neck by PLEAD THE FIFTH last start and Pike jumps aboard for the first time. EVERYMILE A MEMORY was a nice last-start win and can figure again. CROSLEY HOTSHOT has his first start since contesting the 3200m WA Cup two months ago and has drawn terribly but he has ran some great races in stronger company than this. Numbers: 9 – 2 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – PLEAD THE FIFTH EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,5,7 1,6 2,7,10 2,3,5,9 Market Market
