Michael Heaton’s Saturday Narrogin Preview Posted on December 15, 2022December 15, 2022 | Posted by Michael Heaton RACE 1 DANCING JALAPENO stepped up to 1600m last start and ran the fastest last 800m, 600m and 400m splits before copping interference at the 200m mark. She should be suited by the rise to 1720m and smaller field size here. PRESIDENT SAM has placed at two of his six career starts and brings the best form of the race but he’s been set a task first-up at 1720m. ODDONEOUT finished off quite well last start and can position up closer from the better draw here. She’s a 22-start maiden but has placed on 13 occasions and this is the most suitable assignment she’s seen for a fair while. BORN TO BE LUCKY showed some ability 18 months ago but hasn’t fired a shot for some time now. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – DANCING JALAPENO WIN RACE 2 KELLY’S LI ZA LU trialled up well before being a well-beaten favourite at Mount Barker but she struck a bog track that day and can be forgiven. She gets in well after the claim here to have a 4kg pull on Jag Supertrooper and if she can replicate her trial form she’ll take some beating. JAG SUPERTROOPER has placed at three of his last four starts and is building towards a win. He has the tactical speed to be able to get across and settle in a prominent position and he should suit the tight Narrogin circuit. SALVADO makes his race debut off the back of an okay trial and should enjoy a nice run tucked just behind the speed. ROYAL GLORY next best. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – KELLY’S LI ZA LU WIN RACE 3 HOTLIPS LILL trialled up well before a fast-finishing first-up run when coming from last to run second at York. Finished 5L off Art Of Sabrage in a strong Belmont maiden last start (less than a length off Paddy’s Flyin’ who won at Pinjarra on Thursday) and just needs some luck from the outside draw to play a part. KIMOIY hasn’t raced for two years but always showed a fair bit of ability in her trials (ran 1.8L third to Trix Of The Trade and Success Play in July 2021). She wasn’t asked for an effort in a recent trial at Mount Barker and travelled nicely throughout. ORTUM KRISP drew the outside and finished off well to run midfield behind Grey’s Mistress and Military Power two starts ago then was beaten only 1.5L down the straight 1000m course at Pinjarra last time out. MOVING ON should get a lovely run in transit. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – HOTLIPS LILL WIN RACE 4 KING KASHOO is racing a month between runs but is one for the SP followers. He started almost half the price of Missalfie when beaten by her at his last two starts but now meets her 4kg and 5kg better from those outings after comeback kid Brayden Gaerth’s claim. This is his best chance yet. MISSALFIE has to lump 60.5kg now but she’s going super. She’s won three of her last five starts – all of which were in this grade – and now drops from a metro 60+ to a country 52+ after being beaten only 3L by Henchard and Chiclett last start. DUCHEES DEMERIT has hit the line full of running at both starts back and is a previous Narrogin winner. DUDEMANBRO actually ran well two starts ago but will have to produce a herculean performance to win with 63.5kg. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – KING KASHOO WIN Same Race Multi – King Kashoo (Top 2) + Duchees Demerit (Top 4) RACE 5 MIETTE STAR dominated back-to-back races at York in this grade before starting favourite in a metro C3 last start. Set a blistering tempo in front that day and understandably weakened to finish a distant fourth but she looks very well placed dropping back to this class and carrying 0.5kg less than her win two starts ago. She should be able to lead and control proceedings at her own pace. BLAISZEN CAZAH has raced in (slightly) higher grade at his last seven starts – including three consecutive placings – and is a previous track-distance winner. ROCK HARD OMARU hasn’t won in more than two years and steps up sharply in distance but this looks his right trip and grade if he’s going to pinch another one. VERDANDI is 38 days between runs and has been out of form for a while now but this is the right type of race for her to improve in. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – MIETTE STAR WIN RACE 6 TINY‘N’TUFF ran the fastest last 400m of the day to win in this grade and at this distance at York last start. Whilst she certainly doesn’t win out of turn, she’s usually thereabouts in these types of races and she gets a 4kg pull on Dark City as well as a senior rider onboard. DARK CITY is well-placed in a 46+ after the claim. He was beaten a nose in this grade/distance with 1.5kg more three starts ago, was narrowly beaten by subsequent winner Bird’s The Word two starts ago and wasn’t far away in a 58+ on a bog track last time out. IZZY MAY is a previous track-distance winner who was racing seven weeks between runs when run off her feet through the early stages of a fast-run 1000m C3 scamper at Belmont last start but she made good late ground and now strikes a much more suitable assignment. LUCRATIVE LUCY appears to have come back better this preparation and won her maiden well last start. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – TINY’N’TUFF WIN RACE 7 HIGHFRIAR has raced in higher grade at each outing since winning at this track, grade and distance 15 starts ago. Two starts ago he defeated Pray Again and Cold Shizzle in a C5 at Northam before racing five weeks between runs and failing to handle the bog track at Mount Barker. He performs best three weeks between runs and ticks a lot of boxes here. CAPTAIN SHARMANE was badly held up down the Pinjarra straight course last start but prior to that had been going super for new trainer Takahide Ikenushi. NIAYCHI has hit the line strongly at both runs back and has finished in the money at 4/7 starts at this track-distance. He’s 30 days between runs but is a winner and multiple placegetter off that spacing. TOPPA THE MOUNTAIN a big improver back on the grass. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 9 – 7 Suggested Bet – HIGHFRIAR WIN RACE 8 WEAPON OF CHOICE is a 7YO who has only won 3/23 but he’s been racing very consistently of late. He stormed home to beat subsequent winners Captain Sharmane and Tiny’n’tuff at this grade/distance four starts ago, was only beaten a head two starts ago and was only caught in the final strides last time out. He should get every chance from the favourable draw. KELLY’S LASSIE was making good late ground along the inside in the same race as Weapon Of Choice last start and meets him 2.5kg better at the weights. GOT YA has been contesting much harder races than this lately and can find the front if they desire. HIGH PRECISION will likely have to settle near-last but she’s been attacking the line strongly since joining Jayce Buckley’s care. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet – WEAPON OF CHOICE WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2 1,2,3,4,7 3,4,5,7,9 1,4,5,9 Market Market
