It Pays To Follow

SHE’S IMMINENT

Wednesday, February 15 @ Ascot

She went around at $21 on debut last week, but you won’t be a seeing a quote like that next time she steps out. Found herself tucked away on the rails turning for home after being slowly away, but motored home to finish sixth, beaten just over two lengths, behind talented filly Amber Glide, despite being impeded in the straight.

AXEMAN’S JAZZ

Wednesday, February 15 @ Ascot

This gelding was first-up over 1400m and clearly not suited by the modest tempo set. That said, he still worked to the line nicely to fill third in a field that contained fellow WA Derby aspirants Alaskalot and Diamond Scene. He will be winning a second race sooner rather than later.

QUEEN OF JERUSALEM

Wednesday, February 15 @ Ascot

A strapping mare who needs to build into her races, Queen Of Jerusalem was denied daylight for just about the entire straight. It was a sick watch. She is going well and if she draws midfield or out at her next start, she is going to be extremely popular.

SPECIAL SORT

Wednesday, February 15 @ Ascot

The son of My Admiration boasts one win from five starts. Off what we saw last week in the final race at Ascot, a second victory isn’t far away. Impossible not to be impressed with the manner in which he savaged the line fresh over 1400m to finish a nose second to Guard The Safe. A nice horse.

FLOWER IN THE WIND

Wednesday, February 15 @ Ascot

Just as Special Sort was an eye-catcher, so too was Flower In The Wind in the same race. A stakes-placed three-year-old, the now four-year-old was unable to get a crack at them in the straight until the bird had flown. Still managed fourth at the shortest trip she will contest this preparation.

LINDEN LADY

Thursday, February 16 @ Belmont

Fifth first-up under a big weight over 1200m, Linden Lady found the line beautifully last week over 1300m to suggest a win is just around the corner. Third in the Group 3 Champion Fillies Stakes, she is a filly with a motor. Is ready to win at 1400m.

BE OPTIMISTIC

Saturday, February 18 @ Pinjarra

For the second time in this blog, we are circling Be Optimistic. Though she was unable to duplicate her win from the previous start, you could mount an argument that her second down at Pinjarra last weekend was every bit as good. On a day dominated by on-speed runners, she defied the pattern to run home into second. Is going particularly well.
