Harry Buchanan’s Sunday Greyhound Best Bets

CANNINGTON

Race 2 No. 6 Early Worm and No. 8 Flash As One

The 6 is enigmatic but this is a lot easier than last time where she wasn’t that far off them on the line. Will walk out and need a run to appear but can do anything if she wants to. The 8 will come out running and put his usual forward showing in. Sticks on well and has a lot of experience track and trip. EW for him as well.

Race 4 No. 2 Geoff Woke Up and No. 4 Timmy Timebomb

The blow out is on here. This dog in 2 only has to navigate an early passage between the 1 and 3. If he can hold a spot to the first turn without trouble, he can win this. Monster quote. The 4 is the danger. He has early burn and gets a good map here as well. He finds the top and it’s over. The 2 is the bet at the price however. Back EW all day.

Race 6 No. 1 Extreme Mac

This was outstanding last time over the 600 and I’m a huge advocate for dogs having a run over the middle trip then dropping straight back. She even gets the box to go with it. The run to the first turn is all she has to handle. If they leave her alone and she holds her spot, good luck holding her off. She’s ready!! Top 2 price to play as well which is even better for the bet. This will be won or lost in the first 50m and it’s all in here.

Race 7 No. 8 Commander Mack

Very stiff to land between the wrong dogs when in the right spot last time. They took him out of business. The box will now help remove most of that possibly happening again and his turn of foot off the mat puts him in the frame here. Huge show off a clean step.

Race 9 No. 3 Turtle Fernando

Excellent run last time when just missing 3rd in a much tougher race than this. With two very risky beginners inside him here, there is every hope he finds the arm before the first turn. Has super acceleration and if he holds the arm, he will hold the win. Start critical to take advantage of this perfect map.

Race 10 No. 3 Sweet Emily and No. 8 Jumpin’ Jules

The 3 comes off another string of tough draws and gets relief with an inside box here. She also gets a relief in company and her best step will put her right there then put these away. Big show here. The 8 is well boxed and she’s a good beginner who will try and rush around quickly. Dropping back in trip but been racing tougher opposition and can surprise.

Race 12 No. 4 Chunky Ballerina and No. 2 Mick The Magpie

The kennel could complete a good day with another one at odds here in 4. Way over the odds considering the drop in class he’s been racing against. Also has a superb strike rate track and trip. EW bird here if he offsets the draw. The 2 will stay nailed to the fence and look for the run first turn. Hard to hold out if he gets it. Save there. The 4 a big chance here.

SANDOWN PARK

Race 8 No. 1 My Catalina and No. 7 Pepita

The 1 gets back but she has an unrivalled run home here so if she uses the draw to stay remotely close, she will descend late. The 7 goes far better here than The Meadows and expect big improvement now. Can run time and is strong.

Race 12 No. 1 Aston Sunset

She will spear out here and lead, then it’s a matter of where the 2 lands. The recent comparable times track and trip for both dogs have little between them so she could at least hold a top 2 spot on the run home. Can win if she gets away.
