Harry Buchanan’s Saturday Greyhound Best Bets Posted on August 19, 2023August 19, 2023 | Posted by TABtouch CANNINGTON Race 2 No. 3 Disco Trixie and No. 4 Skye Monelli The 3 disappointed last week but she is better than that and can land closer this time. A little clumsy around dogs and looking for longer soon but is close and will show up. The 4 will relish this track now she’s out of maiden class. Sustains a strong run home and will be a force if she is chiming in up the back. Race 4 No. 8 Obstropalous and No. 6 Hinto The 8 just needs his best step to get all the room he needs here. Can roll down to the first turn while half this field look for the fence early and can find a spot to get into his work. Big threat here with a clean first turn. As is the 6 who only has to offset the box somehow. Racing super and if he get a gap through the back and he’s close, he takes a lot to hold out here. Race 5 No. 1 Runaway To Mars Boxed to go seriously very close. Gets a gun run to the first turn here with the 2 stepping and running cover early and absorbing some pressure from the 4. The red just sides along the fence and gets into his work up the back and hard to stop if he takes over at any stage. Gets every possible chance here and looks the one. Race 6 No. 8 Raised The kennel can continue on with this bloke here. Such a shame he has a corner phobia because his engine is twice anything in this when he cuts loose. A few arm dogs to drop off here and he just needs to edge his way through the two turns with as little trouble as possible to get it done late. Won’t miss the frame with a clear run. Race 7 No. 5 Electrified and No. 2 Barrio Beast The 5 just wins unless he trips over a grain of sand here. Class runner but far too short to get around. If he does happen to collect said grain of sand, the 2 can offer some resistance and his early speed will put him up there throughout. Looks the 5 from daylight but a save spec on 2 just in case and he can run 2nd with a clean step. Race 8 No. 6 Clifton Matilda She was good last time over the sprint. Better suited here and will step quickly again and get right up there early. Strong and sticks on and this trip ideal now. Can lead or come from back and a good EW show at the doubles here. Don’t ignore her. Race 10 No. 8 Vander Harley Another who will be a quote and can hit the frame. Strong sprinter who was good last time after getting shuffled back a bit early. Came again late and will enjoy the room outside here. Has also broken 30 where none of these have. Top two chance. Race 11 No. 4 It’s A Dime Back to the middle trip spot on here and if she shows her usual early burn and finds the arm, it’s good and night. Her last few over the long trip will ensure they don’t mow her down here and she is capable of running time. Start important and while she doesn’t need to lead, she needs to be right there. Goes close if she is. Race 12 No. 1 Sand Patch Boxed to win. Fast dog who will be provided safe passage by the speedy wide running 2 who won’t be able to hold this girl out. Resuming from a let up but has performed well before off the spell and will be ready here. If she gets the arm at any stage, this is well and truly over. Box 1 record excellent. Corner start only question mark. THE MEADOWS Race 4 No. 5 Wrangler Jane Small field suits here and there are no Palawa Kings in this. Gets back but runs on very strongly and sustains it from a fair way out. Will be a price but if she’s close, she can certainly fill a top two slot at the big quote. Don’t dismiss her. Race 5 No. 1 Tigger Intention and No. 2 Trending Yale The 1 will be a big quote here but he has his box and his heat run had some merit to it. Could land closer this time and will keep finding the line this whole trip. The 2 gets a better draw this week and her best was also super. Could lead or sit right there and she is very strong on the way home. Hard to beat this time. Race 8 No. 7 Gary Stun On This is simply way way over the odds on opening prices. Best dog in the race. Best form line and will come out running again. If he crosses and leads and he will go close to doing that, there will be no Postman Pats to get him this time. Silly price and can be played top two now but should win with any luck at all. Race 9 No. 4 Zippy Tesla Old mate gets a small field which is the first tick. Racing well and very stiff last time not to finish a lot closer when stopped in his tracks. Will make his usual strong move up the back and that gets stronger all the way home. Clear run and he’s the one to stop. No matter who he’s chasing. WENTWORTH PARK Race 7 No. 4 Quantifiable Has a dazzling turn of foot off the mat and while the last bit can test, she can break 30 and get right away up the back here to do that. Strike rate superb and will look the winner at some stage turning if she gets the arm to herself. Race 8 No. 2 Tarawi Tiger Strange run last time. Not like him to be run down but he got run over late after leading. Better chasing dog I think and he should have to settle behind the 4 here to go out after her. Talented and can bounce back this time. Race 9 No. 8 Rampani Huge run last week when descending out wide and late to just miss. Loves being off the track and can show up early as well. After that effort last week, he’s ready now and just needs a similar effort to win or at least hit top 2. Big show. Market Market
