Harry Buchanan’s Friday Greyhound Best Bets Posted on February 16, 2024 | Posted by TABtouch MANDURAH Race 1 No. 8 Sand Cruiser and No. 1 All About Marble The 8 returned in brilliant style last week leading all the way over the 300m trip is very fast time. Handles the box, handles the trip and slew of poorly drawn wide runners inside give him the chance to win again. The 1 lacks pace but the dogs directly outside him want to get off and badly. If he can maintain a forward position, he will be best strong late. Place heavy spec for him. Race 2 No. 6 Luxio Wave and No. 3 Tick Tick Tick The 6 met with a barrage of market support last week before stepping quickly but not quite able to lead the inside dog when relegated to 2nd. Expect him to fire out again and while this is a little tougher, he is a promising type who will go quick time on the arm. The 3 continues to deliver strong efforts and being boxed inside is a huge plus for him. Rail’s well and he attacks the line with gusto over this trip where he has an ultra consistent record. Expect him to be in the finish again here. Race 3 No. 6 Dandalup Dollar and No. 2 Jelly Monelli The 2nd tier Mandurah stayers here and they all get their chance to chalk up a win after running against better dogs lately. The 6 could surprise even in this. He rarely misses the frame here and has some good placings behind Speed Freak and If You Say. Runs the trip well and will keep finding here. The 2 is one enigmatic customer. She can unleash big fractions and the trip won’t be an issue considering she has gone 34 and small change over the Sandown 595m trip. That alone would bolt in here. If she’s switched on she’s a major threat. Race 4 No. 1 Savic and No. 6 Sunset Louie The Mandurah Middle Distance challenge final. The heats threw up a bit of a half time Super Bowl show last Friday but expect this final to produce the main game. Box 1 Savic, already met with strong support and firming right up, goes on top. Now having his 3rd run in WA for the Shinners kennel, he will get his chance to show what he’s got in his kit bag here. A former Vic stayer who is very strong and while he is yet to salute off the red, don’t let that deter you, this is his box and especially at this track and trip. He’s ready to shake the life out of this. The 6 Sunset Louie, what a tremendous campaigner he’s been. Gave Flying Freda a start and a shock as he railed under her late to score a strong victory. Will go for the fence early but he might get it quicker than most think here and that’s when his real work begins. Not many work harder for a win and he’s rock hard fit and ready to go. Erics team airborne lately as well. The 8 is a chance but she’s short enough. The 4 and 7 will hit take big improvement out of their first looks here. The rest need a bit of trust and big prices to get involved although a spot for the 2 could have been found had she drawn off the track. Great race and several hopes but the 1 is an EW bet to nothing here. Race 5 No. 8 Renegade Cochise and No. 3 Barrio Beast The 8 back to his best trip where he gets his box and room to use that dazzling acceleration. Was not suited by the start of the 300m and will relish this a lot better. Runs the clock to ash when he’s out and skating and will take no end of catching here. If he is to make an error, the 3 is ready and he’s one of and maybe even the only one in this comfortable coming off the arm. Will wind up hard again and nothing closes this out stronger. Keep a watch on the 4. Has not started for a long long time and new to WA. Would decimate these if he was at his absolute top but doubtful he is yet still worth seeing where he’s at here. Race 6 No. 1 Hinto and No. 4 Pudding Monelli The 1 is simply boxed to win. An absolute weapon who wouldn’t lie down to sleep. Can descend from anywhere and chases like few others. Strong and excels at this track where he has already claimed some good types. Very very hard to stop. The 4 fell within a breath of winning here last week. Seemed to go through a flat spot up the back but launched late and just missed. Indicated he might be looking for further but he does his best work here now and will be closing with a clear run at the top. Place heavy go for him. Race 7 No. 2 Sunset Callisto and No. 8 Lite Monelli Looking for the 2 to accelerate here along the fence and into a striking spot. He has a great record here and while he can take a step or two before he goes, he does have terrific muster and is well boxed in this. The 8 steps up to the 400m now and she will spear over to the arm here. Has taken almost all before her over the dash trip and has no issues with the extra distance. She will give another great sight and very hard to catch. Race 8 No. 2 City Cowboy and No. 8 Blast Of Irish A couple of blowout hopes here. The 2 only needs to show a bit more early and he can surprise here. Has a decent win to his name in fair time that would be competitive in this. Boxed to get his chance. The 8 is well drawn also and he has put in some good runs over the longer trip. If he’s close turning he will drop on these hard and hit the frame at a price. Both EW chances on an open affair. Race 9 No. 7 Alden Monelli and No. 5 Our Benson The 7 gets another chance here. Back in trip but capable all the same and forgiving last start. Will look to make a strong run at the top and he can really finish his races off hard. Dont ignore him here. He can do something. The 5 the one to beat. He was hindered by a dog inside for most the trip last week and he gets his chance to atone and get right on the arm here. If he leads clearly and on his own, it’s over. Race 10 No. 7 Sammy Can Browse and No. 6 Ash The Flash The 7 another who drops in distance but has good early speed and can dart up out wide here. Would take no end of stopping if she crosses to the front and runs good time. Been racing well. As as the little star in 6. Track, trip, box, none of it seems to matter. She just keeps putting in and hitting that frame. Will again look to get into it quickly and she won’t lay down. EW again for her. Race 11 No. 3 Maximum Carnage and No. 4 Mazuma Mayhem Last chance for the 3 here. He got tangled up last week trying to find a spot and never recovered. His best step would put him a position to drop the low 17 he is capable of and goes close. The 4 also has his chances determined by box rise. A very risky commodity when the lids go up, if he nails it he’s a huge hope. Otherwise he leaves himself an almost impossible task. Trust needed with both dogs but they can deliver when they turn up. Race 12 No. 7 Harley Monelli and No. 8 If You Say The 6 is perfectly placed here and ready to win. Been in some very tough races and gets a relief in grade against this field. Went 27.35 in defeat last week and that would just win this. She’s the one. The 8 will wind up strongly off his favourable draw and while he is known over longer, he will gradually get into this and pass a few of them. Will hit the frame if he’s close turning and don’t dismiss him. Market Market
