Warren Huntly’s Saturday Flemington Preview Posted on February 16, 2024February 16, 2024 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 STAR VEGA is on trial at 2000m but he’s having a great prep and didn’t have the best of luck last time. EL SOLEADO is also on trial at 2000m but is shaping as though it should be ok and maps for a soft run. ARAMCO had the pattern in his favour last start but will make his own luck again as will AKROTIRI. Selections: 7,2,3,5 Suggested Bet: Small bet Star Vega to win Race 2 Competitive race. PLUS FOURS impressed winning last start and can make his own luck. BIFROST didn’t have much luck at his latest run and is drawn to have clear air this time. CHESTER WARRIOR likes the straight and has jumped out well between runs. OUROBOROS is proven against quality opposition and has trialled well to resume. SHORESY has trialled in good fashion for the new stable. WIGGUM and BIG WATCH are in the mix. Selections: 8,5,4,1 Suggested Bet: Plus Fours each way Race 3 EJECT has jumped out impressively recently with the application of blinkers. AARDVARK ran well on debut behind the talented Coleman, he gets winkers on and looks suited kicking off his second campaign at 1100m. WOLFGANG was below his best on the Gold Coast but swaps winkers for blinkers and his previous form puts him in the game. PRO FORMA and COUNTEROFFENSIVE may control the tempo and prove hard to get past Selections: 6,9,3,4 Suggested Bet: Eject each way Race 4 WHO DARES is in great form, he has the early speed to offset the wide draw and chased a promising one last time. BELLE SAVOIR improved significantly second up and will strip even fitter. RUMBLED AGAIN continues to run well without winning and may be looking for 1600m now. GRACIAS AMIGO should be at peak fitness now and gets blinkers back on. Imported gallopers CIRCLE OF FIRE and UP AND UNDER have both been trialling well. Selections: 4,10,5,11 Suggested Bet: Who Dares each way Race 5 WISHLOR LASS is building an enviable record and has trialled well to resume. REVOLUTIONARY MISS has been kept up to the mark with a solid trial in Sydney since her Gold Coast run and maps for a good run. FOXY FRIDA has trialled nicely behind Wishlor Lass. VARGRANT has found the winning habit and should appreciate stepping up to 1400m. Selections: 3,1,2,4 Suggested Bet: Wishlor Lass to win Race 6 MOLLYNICKERS has a touch of class and has jumped out well to resume at 1400m. GRIZINGER BELLE also looks suited kicking off at this trip and has been trialling/jumping out in good style. PINK CHANDON takes a significant rise in grade but has plenty of upside, as does DONEGAL, who has been kept up to the mark with a solid jumpout since her impressive first up win. LA CASONA and LUIJZIKA are also last start maiden winners with plenty of upside. Selections: 2,4,7,9 Suggested Bet: Playing multiples around 2,4,9 & 7 Race 7 KING COLORADO closed off well over 1200m first up and looks suited over 1400m on a spacious track. RUN HARRY RUN raced through the grades in impressive fashion last prep and has jumped out in great style to resume. OTAGO has obvious upside and has trialled well between runs for his toughest test to date. HEY FAT CAT was luckless last start. AMBASSADORIAL has been impressive at recent trials/jumpouts and looks ready to go first up. RIFF ROCKET has been trialling ok and has some claims. Selections: 2,3,7,6 Suggested Bet: King Colorado to win Race 8 IMPERATRIZ was the sprinting star of the spring and has handled the straight well. It’s well documented that she performed below expectations in a recent trial but a prior jumpout and subsequent gallop at Moonee Valley have been of her usual high standard. PRIVATE EYE can be explosive first up and has trialled well. I AM UNSTOPPABLE is up there with the best sprinters of his age group and has trialled well to take on the older horses. BELLA NIPOTINA never runs poorly and has trialled in typically good fashion. Selections: 4,1,8,3 Suggested Bet: Imperatriz to win Race 9 JIMMYSSTAR earned an All Star Mile Wild Card with his impressive win in easier company last start and looks well placed stepping up to listed grade on the minimum weight. KA BLING ended up in an awkward spot before hitting the line strongly last time, he maps for a good run if he can hold his spot. CROSSHAVEN races well here and should appreciate the drop in grade and the step up to 1400m. NOT AN OPTION won a similar race here two starts back, he was solid again last time and maps well. WELWAL has jumped out particularly well to resume. Selections: 12,11,6,1 Suggested Bet: Jimmysstar to win Race 10 PUNCH LANE got the favours last start but has plenty of upside and looks hard to beat again. HE’S OUR BONNEVAL will strip fitter for an encouraging return and brings an impressive second up record. BEL AIR was close up after starting favourite in the same race as He’s Our Bonneval and has obvious claims. MASTER MONTARO has returned to racing in Australia in great form and will appreciate the extra 100m. JENNILALA and ARRAN BAY have both been trialling well. Selections: 13,9,14,11 Suggested Bet: Punch Lane to win Same Race Multi: Punch Lane (Top 2) + He’s Our Bonneval (Top 4) Market Market
