RACE 1

Staying maiden, expecting a firm surface which should favour on-speed horses, DISTILLERY is well-placed second-up today rising in trip and he looks every bit a stayer of promise, the lightly-tried 4YO stuck on well after being out-sprinted at the mile fresh. Ridden with intent, this is a good race for him to be winning. GOOD LORDY ME is likely leader and will take running down, he goes to a staying trip for the first time, breeding says no. BONCAPO was disappointing at Donald considering the run he had, the extra distance may help and KIRWANS BRIDGE is another on trial at the distance.

RACE 2

This shoud be a dour contest. Market will gravitate to the stayer on the quick back-up JEALOUS, set a task at Pakenham on Saturday racing out of her grade, caught wide and went for home a long way out. Racing well enough to win this. KARBURAN is hard, fit and consistent, the stable is enjoying a good run of form and he is the lamplighter in this field, love to see a daring Froggy Newitt ride going for home at the 600 making it a true staying test as thats his best chance. The local hope GENRICHERO mixes his pattern, he’s well-placed coming right down in grade and has a class edge, first try at the distance. NATURAL RULER is also among the chances kicking up for a forward spot from gate 2.

RACE 3

Even race. Debutant INSPIRING has shown a willingness to get forward early in his jumpouts and is half-brother to another sprinter in Electric Tommy. From the good draw, he can land on-speed and fight out the finish, BURLEIGH is another with gate speed who can get across from the wide draw and apply pressure early, worth respecting his race experience. FUNDAMENTAL NATURE debuts for the Maher stable, not pushed out in her latest heat, looks to have some ability as well as early speed. FOXTROT CHARLIE is a big market watch, the local has improved this campaign at the jumpouts winning both recent efforts, responded when challenged in his latest.

RACE 4

Loved the debut of TOY QUEEN on the heavy track at Traralgon, lost her forward spot and had do alot of chasing she tried hard to the line. Stepping out to 1200m she has a tricky draw to overcome, there doesn’t appear to be too much speed early, a positive ride gives her a hope. SOMMERSAULT was given every conceivable chance at Geelong and found one better, this is easier. KOKO has some ability she likes to balance up early in her races and can come with a looping run, she’ll need the track to play fair. MISS MARANDA was ok on debut, a late drifter in the market there, drawn for all favours.

RACE 5

Tricky race. The speed map is unclear, where they land from the gates will have a large bearing on the outcome. DARTS DALY hasn’t won first-up but has performed well in the past, he has good form through stronger races to be a serious threat in this. LET’SFACETHEMUSIC and WHITE BEAR can use their claim to benefit by taking forward spots. MAGARTEN the local gets the drop in behind and will be hitting the line hard. OCTRAIN hasn’t started for 5 weeks, it’s not unusual for him, would like to see some market support.

RACE 6

Locals hold a strong hand. Matt Laurie can get a win with DIAMOND GUST first-up off a short spell. He resumes gelded and brings strong form through last campaign, liked his recent jumpout defeating sub winner Manolo Bling when under riding, from a good draw only needs to be close enough to strike. HI VAL and CHICAGO BLUES (blinkers off) come through a pretty low stakes race at Caulfield, the former wasn’t given any hope rolling to the fence and held up, still disappointing in the way she finished off the race. Debut winner ESMAHLI went to 1200m last start, sat outside the progressive sprinter Rosa Aotearoa and was given windburn. She stays at 1200m, that’s some query again.

RACE 7

LADY POTATO HEAD will benefit from not seeing Touchdown in the formguide, she set a good tempo at Caulfield Heath over 1800m last start and punctured late. She’s hard, fit and dropping back to 1500m which aide her chances and is a winning hope at odds. SKETCH is also quick and draws the inner marble, the filly takes on the older horses this time after a game effort on-speed in the Twilight Glow. RUSSIAN FRONT is flying for the new stable, he gets the drop on both of them, the end of 1500m may test him. LETHAL THOUGHTS best of the closing pack.
