Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on December 16, 2025December 16, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BANNERED comes through a first-up run when he skipped clear on straightening and was only swamped in the final stride by a handy filly in Don’t Wink. Considering he was first-up at 1200m off the back of only a 400m jump out it’s fair to expect improvement fitness wise and from the inside gate he should bounce out and put himself in a winnable position. The Playin’ It Sweet / King of Light 2 year old form is hard to knock. ROCK THE MARKET has to overcome a tricky draw but considering she jumped equal favourite in a C3 and placed to Hey Pino (luckless after being crunched in betting Saturday), she’s the obvious danger and likely favourite. GODLESS STORM has ability but is drawn tricky. I’M ODETTE a watch on debut but may want further. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 2 – 13 Suggested Bet – BANNERED WIN RACE 2 FIRE THE LOT ran second in a C3 1600 to Our Mate Archie at Pinjarra last start and now drops back into a C1 1500. He should park and ride the speed and looks to have a bit more upside than most of his rivals. The 60.5kg will no doubt again be a test for him but this race doesn’t have much depth to it and he looks ready to win. Michael Lane’s yard back to its brilliant best strike rate wise. PONY UP was backed to beat Seven Candles last week. It was an ugly race and she wasn’t suited. TOUSLED CROWN has returned in solid order and didn’t get a flow into the race last start. CHINO BAY won well on debut and gave the impression he would appreciate even more ground. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – FIRE THE LOT WIN RACE 3 GINGER AND TONIC has been a real surprise packet this time around. She came into the preparation as an 18 start maiden before winning first-up at 20-1 and the three runs since at juicy double figure prices have all had merit. Love the way she got to the line late last week behind Seven Candles and think the step up to 1800m and the 3kg claim both enhance her winning chances. No stars in this and she’ll be eachway. SWEET SURRENDER is on the 7 day spin first-up to second-up and was only 2.5L off them in a C3 that had far more depth and quality than this. Logically the market mover? FINAL CALL is very one paced but they’ll kick him out and get them chasing from the 600. REEL SERENITY can be forgiven for one below par run. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – GINGER AND TONIC EACHWAY RACE 4 IMAPAGETHREE GIRL had trialled up super leading into her return to racing for Mack Hall and loomed the winner in a C5 1200 before being swamped over the final stages. She sneaks back into a C3 second-up and is drawn to get a lovely run close handy to the speed. Blinkers go on and at an eachway price she’s worth a ticket in an open and even contest. PRINCESS IN RED comes through the Hey Pino race and considering how well he went on the weekend and how much money came for him it might just be a form line worth following. Good use of the 3kg claim. HELLUVA GODDESS went around 50-1 first-up but it was in a 60+ Grad and she didn’t give it away after being pushed out deep from the 600. SAVAGE DANCER is now all of a sudden jury out. Never looked a winning chance at her last two at $2.20 & $2.10 respectively. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – IMAPAGETHREE GIRL EACHWAY RACE 5 MANTUA ran third to Rolling Ruler in a 60+ Grad before running third to The Calabrese in a 0MWLY 1200 and since then has raced at Bunbury over 1000m. They’ve simply been a bit too sharp for him over the short course and now he heads to a 1200m, drawn low, with a senior on and will be double figures. Winnable for him. SUPIDO EXPRESS just continues to find one better. Mitchell Pateman goes with the 3kg claimer here to get the weight down to 55.5kg. He’ll run another very honest race and deserves to win one. SMART ENERGY could be the best horse to come out of this event, but 1200m is on the short side for him. ZORBRIST is his own worst enemy. Has ability but does too much wrong. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – MANTUA EACHWAY RACE 6 FOREVER BOY could nearly announce himself as the horse to beat in the 2026 Perth Cup should he salute here in the ATA Stakes. He’s the progressive horse on the rise and went super on the 7 day back-up from a 72+ win into the G.A Towton Cup when beaten a half length by Buckets Ridge. Drawn to get every favour and this ATA is clearly weaker than the Towton. Right place, right time and a win won’t change his Perth Cup weight being only a m89. STORMAGEDDON has put in career best performances at this last two. Just needs to find the right back to follow into the race. FILTHY HABITS took a big step forward last start and will again roll to the top and control the race. He’s getting closer very quickly. DEMOLISH was 1500 to 2200 in the Towton and was only 2L behind Forever Boy. Numbers: 4 – 8 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – FOREVER BOY WIN RACE 7 RALLY THE TROOPS trialled super, was held up the entire length of the straight first-up and then was again held up fleetingly at a crucial stages second-up in a 60+ Graduation behind emerging staying type Redback Flyer. He’s found a very winnable 0MWLY and clearly returned in good order. Can take full advantage of his ideal barrier and looks a great race for him on paper. TERRITORY MAN was only getting warm over the concluding stages first-up and drops 5kg here second-up. He’s lightly raced, he’s progressive and usually these are the horses that the market attacks. SKYTALKER is through the Redback Flyer/Rally The Troops race and now has blinkers first time. ELITE FIGHER was also in that event and was held up the entire at 100-1. Numbers: 9 – 10 – 5 – 11 Suggested Bet – RALLY THE TROOPS WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,3,4,5,7,8 1,3,4,7 4 5,9,10 Market Market
