RACE 1

TAKEN was disappointing in the Supernova at Pakenham after an impressive first-up win, rising to 1700m is in his favour and he is well-placed to repeat his first-up win settling on-speed on what should be a modest speed. MERRIGOLD has to go up in distance out of a fast race and into what appears a much slower race on paper, cant knock her on form as she’s been racing consistently all prep and hasn’t always been placed to advantage. VERDAD took off early and stuck on well at Geelong, with similar tactics he’s a winning chance back in trip to his preferred distance range. SMOKIN PRINCESS will have to make a looping run and the pace does her no favours.

RACE 2

Tough race. Exposed form is strong and the debutantes are showing promise. The speed to come from wider draws with INVICTO and OUR BRAVE BOY crossing over. The Maribyrnong Trial winner EUROCANTO resumes off two smart jumpouts, lacks early speed but gets Jamie Kah, if she can bang him out of the gates then he may be close enough to strike. ALIBABA is similar in that he takes time to muster, new rider Craig Newitt aboard could see him settle closer after debuting without luck. MILSONS POINT showed a good turn of foot at the end of 1000m on debut, beat a moderate field, this is harder. HIGH ALERT and TURBO SAINT both shown enough to figure.

RACE 3

ANGEL’S FURY is bred for speed and has shown plenty of it at the jumpouts for Ciaron Maher. She’ll need to use it early from a wide draw and will take running down if she finds the front. JADZIA is also bred for speed and looks a genuine 1000m filly from her jumpouts, winning the latest in fast time. With an extravagant galloping action the tight Caulfield circuit is a concern. GHANA’S KHAN found herself three-wide from barrier 3 at Geelong and wobbled at the turn on debut, she ran on well enough to improve into this and STREISAND is worth keeping safe, a very professional filly which takes her a long way.

RACE 4

PARADISE CITY was just having a run fresh then charged home at Flemington behind the runaway winner, she finds a good race third-up, the barrier is tricky, how the track is playing will have a large bearing on her winning chances. EVERAIN is a progressive style of horse and has jumped out well to return, the 1400m is a good starting point, the inner draw is niggly. CONCHIERO will join GEORGIE GET MAD and LE FERRARI in the leading trio, the Waterhouse/Bott runner has a touch of class. BONS TO RICHES is the blowout hope, should be hitting the line hard off a strong tempo.

RACE 5

DECLARED returned with an outstanding 1000m win at Murray Bridge defeating a progressive filly in the process. That was without a public trial so improvement can be expected and this is a suitable race for her to win again. SALSA FELLOW will be back with him and drawn to his inside, he has a good sprint if he can get clear running with his big weight. Early speed comes from EXCESS and LA ASTRO CHAT, the latter has each-way claims if they don’t go hard. DAMEHOOD also deserves respect coming back in distance, she can reel off a slick final split.

RACE 6

Value play ACTIVE DUTY slots into a winnable race, the mare needs terms to suit and the race sets up for it with a lack of early pressure expected in this BM78. Dean Yendall aboard off an inside draw, he should be looking to hold the fence from Opening Address who is going awful at present. SUNTORA on the other hand is flying, if the two up front pester each other she can swoop late with her light weight. TRAPALANDA is racing well, staying at 2000m is a query may now be ready for the 2400m. STEEL RUN resumes off 34 weeks and three jumpouts, quality galloper, need a push from the yard or market.

RACE 7

GEEGEES MISTRUTH was a standout performer at the recent set of Cranbourne jumpouts and has jumped out in a similar vein to what she did last prep when narrowly defeated at G2 level, at this course. With a hot speed expected from BEAST MODE and MIDWEST going forward, the former Tasmanian mare gets her chance to sit off and launch late. OAK HILL is an enigma, he can still do plenty wrong in the run and likes to sit off them and charge home, he was on his best behaviour at the Werribee jumpouts recently.

RACE 8

SALTY PEARL is a good little mare, she improved between preparations last time culminating in a G2 win, albeit against a modest field. Her jumpouts have been strong once more and maps beautifully to stalk and pounce at the 1200m fresh. ROMANTIC ENCOUNTER has also impressed at the jumpouts, he was aimed up and measured up in the Stutt Stakes at start two. Looks forward to return and if he can use the inside to advantage he may give a sight on-speed at the 1200m before getting out in distance. MISS OLE was disappointing fresh, back to the jumpouts and went forward, low draw, minor claims. CUSTOM next best.

RACE 9

The mouse wheel ZOU SENSATION is clocking up plenty of mileage this campaign and is again well-placed by the stable despite going up in weight, maps for all favours out in front. CAFE MILLENIUM caught the eye winning a fast jumpout on the back straight at Pakenham, ridden out to do so, new stable seem to hold the key to him, expecting a fit horse to resume. Stablemate JUSTADEEL is a progressive horse with a big finish, he will need the track pattern in his favour, STEPARTY is a class horse and racing well, tough draw for the visiting Willie Pike to navigate.

RACE 10

TOUCHDOWN is a horse with a bright future for Team Hayes, he’s been carefully-placed by the stable staying in a BM78, adding the new dimension of settling closer to the speed in recent runs to offset the weight he now returns to the mile, with the speed only moderate, Luke Currie’s tactics from gate 6 will have a large bearing on the outcome. YES I KNOW is fit for recent racing and drops significantly in weight, change of gear with blinkers off, he’s becoming a costly conveyance. AHAA AHAA is hard to catch, the inside draw makes it even harder with her pattern.
