Glenn Ingram’s Saturday Caulfield Preview Posted on December 18, 2025December 18, 2025 | Posted by Glenn Ingram RACE 1 TOUCHDOWN is progressive and continues to be well-placed by the stable, appreciated a fast tempo and looked to win with ease before labouring late under the 60.5kg, smart claim with Jackson Radley taking 3kg and maps for all favours stalking the lead pair. TRAPALANDA franked his good jumpout form with an impressive first-up effort in defeat at Ballarat, the tighter track is some concern, if the fave is off his game this guy will be strongest late. SIRGIRIYA ROCK finds an easier grade, no favours on the map which has been a common theme, in-form jock to compensate. ASEVENTY SEVEN is also on a hat-trick coming through the lower level, sustained a long run to win at Warrnambool, he’s one-paced but may get it soft on-speed. Selections: 4,5,3,7 Suggested Bet: TOUCHDOWN win RACE 2 Smaller field gives the two lightweights on-speed every chance to fight this race out, SNEAKY SUNRISE picked herself up after being checked by the riderless horse for a tough win at Ballarat. Returning to the higher level, the claim should see her roll to the front from ORAQUA who rode a strong tempo to win at Warrnambool when dropping in grade, maps for the same run OSL if good enough. BELTORO is ready to show something, firm ground in his favour, however, best efforts are saved for Flemington. WAYMARK backs up from Pakenham last week and was ok in a high-rating race. Selections: 6,8,3,2 Suggested Bet: Quinell 6 & 8 RACE 3 MIXXIT was super first-up off a long break and a big impost, ridden for a sit there, with the engagement of Emily Pozman she can go forward to lead from the wide draw and surely improves with the run under his belt. SEAFALL has an excellent second-up record and can be forgiven drifting back in a crawl at Ballarat, winning chance in this. MISS PLAYLOUNGE trialled strongly to begin the prep and had circumstances against either side of her Cranbourne win, with a good tempo expected up front she has the closing speed to figure. SEA STRIKE deserves respect first-up despite a poor draw, fresh winner last prep, jumpouts have been solid. Selections: 2,5,11,8 Suggested Bet: MIXXIT win RACE 4 Good race for ROADCONE with a perfect speed map landing outside the lead, he’s third-up ready to strike and he was scratched from the wet track at Ballarat a fortnight ago, he has plenty in his favour provided he’s fit enough. KNOBELAS may prove too good, she’s hard to get line through having raced sparingly on varying tracks, she finds leaders back from the inside draw. CHEST OF GOLD sets the speed, tough horse to get past when able to dictate terms. PRESSER gets up in the weights, always worth respecting as consistent performer and has jumped out since the Kilmore Cup defeat. Selections: 4,9,6,1 Suggested Bet: ROADCONE 1 x 3 RACE 5 UNIT FIVE has been ultra-impressive at the Cranbourne jumpouts for the Maher stable, the colt by Supido has the ability to travel and quicken and can make the most of an inside draw to get handy early. GUEST HOUSE is the other star performer at the jumpouts, the Home Affairs colt is a big, mature-looking juvenile and looks ready to race coming out of an astute first-up barn. INVINCIBLE SON, SAYALERO and QUARTERS have all made an impression at the jumpout stage and worth watching any betting moves. Selections: 8,3,4,11 Suggested Bet: UNIT FIVE win RACE 6 RUE DE ROYALE is super-consistent, very good at the jumpouts leading into and excellent fresh run at Ballarat when only swamped late. The map is kind to him here parking behind a good speed and that may be enough to land him his 2nd career win. MYTEMPTATION was slow to muster at Cranbourne and settled back in the run, the horse no persisted with in the straight. Rider change, instructions should be positive from a soft draw. EXCESS will give a sight from the front and LITTLE COINTREAU has the class to figure and deserves respect, jumpouts suggest may need this first-up for the Littlefield stable. Selections: 4,2,5,6 Suggested Bet: RUE DE ROYALE each way RACE 7 Typically even race for the 3YO’s. HI VAL was scratched from Mornington on Wednesday for this stronger race, she was given no chance in the run at stakes level last time rolling back to the inside and finding trouble. Drawn to be prominent behind a good speed could cause an upset. JOB DONE is a good little racehorse, replicated his debut win with another strong performance here first-up at 1000m, if he’s trained on another great chance. MISS OLE is first-up, one soft jumpout, market and yard best guide from a tricky draw. TALLADEGA GIRL can give a sight, well-ridden winning first-up and may get it soft up top. Selections: 5,1,2,6 Suggested Bet: None Race 8 Impossible race. STAY FOCUSED should get terms to suit and get every chance to lump his big weight sitting OSL, yet to win third-up, won’t get a better opportunity. RECUPERATO was legless at Flemington in the Red Roses and caught the market by surprise with a return to form with a fast-finishing 2nd in the Blue Sapphire, have to trust she will repeat. GIN A TONIC goes up in class and looks the likely leader. SUPERLICIOUS is worth respecting first-up. Need to go wide in the quaddie. Selections: 1,10,2,8 Suggested Bet: None RACE 9 BEAST MODE is well-placed back to a 1000m, a jumpout between runs and is hard and fit, that gives him the edge over the classy SAMANGU opting for the claim first-up, jumpouts have been ok without standing out. SUNRISE is a proper 1000m horse, the former kiwi drops back from G3 level for the Beer stable and should be challenging Beast Mode for speed honours, Radley’s claim a bonus if she finds the top. SOUTH OF INDIA was heavily-backed to win at Ballarat, firming track, map and weight scale are all against him. CHINQUI generally improves on his first-up efforts and could run into the money. Selections: 1,2,5,6 Suggested Bet: BEAST MODE win Race 10 The two Pakenham-trained mares hold the key to the race. PARADISE CITY is well in at the weights first-up with Pozman jumping off fellow competitor GRACIES RAIN, the former’s jumpouts have been good, she’s favoured to sprint best at 1200m over the other mare who can fold up late, she’s now hard & fit after two runs in and should be in it a long way. FLYER comes back from a freshen, she’s been contesting stronger races and drawn to take advantage. MY ZEPHYR best of the closers if they go too hard up front. Selections: 4,1,2,11 Suggested Bet: PARADISE CITY each way NEXT BEST: R5#8 UNIT FIVE Market Market
