Scott Embry’s Saturday Narrogin Preview Posted on December 18, 2025December 18, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 FLY AWAY FLIRT made a sustained move around them at Narrogin on 20 November in a 1720 and was only run down late by stablemate Iffublush. Rocky Cheung is riding plenty of winners at eachway prices and this is the kind of race that the mare could pinch. WHO TOLD KAYLA has the best form lines (relative) behind Seven Candles and then Lady Kiki. Will keep whacking away. SAUCISSON has run two good races in his life: once at York over 1500m and once at Narrogin over 1720. He clearly goes best at these unique tracks and if he’s ever going to win one it’ll be a maiden handicap like this. BONDI EXPRESS was doing his best work late at Albany and wants further. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 10 – 1 Suggested Bet – FLY AWAY FLIRT WIN RACE 2 QUEEN OF HAWKS trialled up really well at Lark Hill behind Belta Of A Song and then was sent out an even money favourite at Geraldton. Was vulnerable late and ran below expectation but she should come on quickly here second-up. PRETTY DIVINE wishes this was York because she goes 10L better there than any other track but still after the 4kg claim for Giaan O’Donnell she’s well placed by Mack Hall. Hopefully she jumps because she’s also a far better animal when allowed to stride. QUEEN NARDI is better suited over further and hasn’t raced since this time last year, but Anthony Barton is a genius with these tried horses so a big watch on her. MISTRESS OF WAR is a consistent type of mare resuming without a trial. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – QUEEN OF HAWKS WIN RACE 3 LONGTIMEBELIEVER resumed here at Narrogin when sitting in the breeze before being beaten a half length by Royal Defence. No doubt Paul Roberts has deliberately waited a month for this exact meeting. She should go close if she can get across. MUZZA’S GIFT and QUEEN CARTEL find new homes with SJ Miller and the recent trial of QUEEN CARTEL is on show with Backchatting winning first-up and Articole going around favourite in a $50,000 maiden at Ascot. The trial of MUZZA’S GIFT left a bit to be desired? KINGSLEY TOWN didn’t beat one home on debut but that race was far better than this. Blinkers on, Alan Kennedy on, watch for any late market support. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – LONGTIMEBELIEVER WIN RACE 4 SMART SHADOW should have actually finished a bit closer first-up in a C1 1000 at Ascot. Both of Ryan Hill’s runners in that event actually looked to have something to offer when held up behind a wall of horses and thinking that she can break through here second-up in what looks quite a thin race from a winning chances perspective. NORMA STARS might be a 9 year old mare but if she reproduces the effort f two starts ago behind Rivercrest Magic she would be hard to beat. The only minor query is back in distance but at least she’s had a month’s freshen. ROMMEL’S GODDESS has C3 and 60+ Graduation form. Should be a really nice acquisition for Team Barton. DON’T TELL NAN isn’t showing the same speed that she used too. Poor Nan. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet – SMART SHADOW WIN RACE 5 HEAPS OF MOOLAH won from off speed last start this track/distance/grade which was a bizarre showing from the old boy. He has always been known as a rolling leader but that was a new trick. Loves Narrogin and now Ava Catarino can ride him however she wants! ALMAYA Won a C1 1800 four starts back beating subsequent winner Dandy’s Gem and then finished second in a C3 behind Opal Tango. Went to a m61 after than and is now still a c60. Is a really nice race for him as long as he isn’t ready for the paddock. MAXIMUM IMPACT ran second to Heaps of Moolah and then worked too hard in town. TAK GOES BOOM has been specked in betting a bit recently. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet – HEAPS OF MOOLAH WIN RACE 6 COATACHINO is going really well for new trainer Jemma Collins. She won a C2 1600 at Albany by over 1.5L two starts ago and then last time out was held up from the 250 to the final few strides and was beaten under a length to Lady Ducati. Drawn off fence is a bonus because now she can sit back and then make a move from the 600. Think she’s flying. ESTIMATOR went right out to 2200m last start. Coming back to the 1720 is far more his go. SNIP OF GOSSIP won well fresh and then has raced below his best ever since. Blinkers off could help. ANNA’S BOY put in his best run in a long while most recently behind Run Pattie Run. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet: COATACHINO RACE 7 ELSA’S PRIDE is all or nothing. She’s extremely quick and needs to find races where she’s the only speed horse and can hold the fence. That looks this race for her on paper and her best runs of recent times seem to have been at Narrogin. Like the booking of Madi Derrick and hoping to see her lead and win. QUICK AS SILVER ran second to Skytalker at any old odds at Bunbury on Melb Cup Day and then last start at Narrogin did a bit of work early but ultimately disappointed. BRAVE SHOT finds yet another new home but his trial behind sharp sprinting mare Niccimota was really good. BILL SELECTS finished half a length off Storm Lord first-up at York in a similar race to this. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – ELSA’S PRIDE WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,3,6 1,3 5 1,2,6,9 Market Market
