RACE 3 NO.11 TOO GOOD TOO HARD

TOO GOOD TOO HARD is a progressive type from the Philip Stokes stable that looks well placed to return to racing as a winner when she tackles the Benchmark 78 Handicap (1200m). The daughter of All Too Hard is unbeaten in three runs at the distance and is a winner at Mornington, which stands her in good stead as it is often a tough track to negotiate. A recent trial at Cranbourne suggests that she is primed for a big fresh run and can win her fourth race from just seven starts.

RACE 4 NO.8 HUMAN NATURE

HUMAN NATURE has returned to racing in stunning form and looks the one to beat again when he runs in the Benchmark 78 Handicap (1000m). The Team Hawkes trained galloper has always displayed talent but has been gelded in recent times which has seen him really develop as a more complete racehorse. His last start win over 955 metres at The Valley on March 13 was full of merit as he was forced to cover ground in the run. He is drawn for a cheaper run, gets the benefit of Michael Poy’s 1.5kg allowance and just has more upside than his rivals; should be winning again.

RACE 8 NO.12 PROPHET’S THUMB

The feature sprint race on Mornington Cup day is the Hareeba Stakes (1200m) and has brought together a terrific field. For mine, the most interesting runner is PROPHET’S THUMB who makes her debut for the Anthony Freedman stable. The daughter of I Am Invincible is a four time winner that has proven herself at stakes level that has been trialling brilliantly in recent weeks suggesting a bold first-up showing is on the cards. It looks a high pressure race which suits PROPHET’S THUMB and she looks a terrific each way gamble.
