RACE 2 NO.3 MONGOLIAN MARSHAL

The Open Handicap (1600m) looks a good race for MONGOLIAN MARSHAL who appeals as the value runner on the Flemington program. The Stuart Gower trained gelding has been freshened after a series of unlucky runs of late, the most recent of those was when he finished unplaced behind HANG MAN in the Easter Cup (2000m) at Caulfield on April 3. He is a three time winner over 1600 metres so the drop back in distance shouldn’t pose a problem and in-form rider Luke Nolen takes the ride. This race will be run at a strong pace which will suit MONGOLIAN MARSHAL and he’ll run well at each way odds.

RACE 4 NO.2 HEART OF PUISSANCE

HEART OF PUISSANCE was the hard luck story of the recent Warrnambool carnival and can make amends when contesting the Benchmark 84 Handicap (2500m). The four year old endured a chequered run and should have gone close to winning when finishing 2nd behind LE DON DE VIE in the Warrnambool Cup (2350m) on May 6. He is having a good campaign and continues to develop as a stayer with racing and experience. Leading rider Jamie Kah takes the mount and HEART OF PUISSANCE can record his 4th win from just 12 starts.

RACE 9 NO.12 ZACHAZ

ZACHAZ ran a bold first-up race which sets him up to return to the winners list when he runs in the Benchmark 84 Handicap (1800m). The six year old battled on well when finishing 3rd behind BLUE OCEAN over 1800 metres at Caulfield on April 24. He drops 4kg for that run, has been kept fresh which he seems to appreciate and gets the services of Jamie Kah in the saddle. He is drawn for a good run and ZACHAZ looks the best bet on a challenging Flemington card.
