Scott Embry’s Saturday Carnarvon Preview Posted on May 21, 2021May 21, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 LA CHAIVE can continue the imposing strike rate of emerging midwest trainer Sean Rains. Has always promised to do exactly what she did first-up with a dominant display from close handy to the speed. Natasha Faithfull is riding Carnarvon well, she profiles like a perfect dirt type who can stalk the speed and she has resumed in form. KRAMDEN will be on a jump, run mission. Has 62kg to lump but comes from metro racing alongside River Beau, Mood Swings, Captain Kink and Plutocracy. BEHROOZ is always capable of winning over his favourite track/distance. WOODBUG ran well at the opening meet. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – LA CHAIVE WIN RACE 2 PRINCESS LILYTESS is produced first-up no trial by the astute Hammarquist yard. Raced well enough at Carnarvon when last in work to suggest that she’ll take some beating fresh. Was in the middle of the campaign when arriving in the region when last in work. The fresh trial at Belmont Park was strong (second to Angelic Miss) and did lead them up at Ascot back in May so has the requisite speed. REDWOOD RANSOM is drawn out but will come across. Perennial maiden but showed a bit last start at Geraldton. TAPAROO an improver at odds. NERO CHIN CHIN always hard in the market in these maidens. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 9 – 1 Suggested Bet – PRINCESS LILYTESS WIN RACE 3 LAMPLIGHT LILI is an intriguing addition to the Catherine Godden stable. Her recent trial was both excellent and concerning. Concerning because of how slowly she was away from the machine (hate get back horses on the dirt) but excellent because she looked to handle the dirt with ease, reeling off an impressive turn of acceleration in the trial under a hold. Finds a suitable race and worth a look. SHIVERS OF JOY has raced well at Carnarvon previously and looks well suited back in trip. TOMMY TO JACK caught the eye late at the season opener. THE DIVINE WIND was some sort of replay watch. Good luck Michelle. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – LAMPLIGHT LILI WIN RACE 4 CASUAL TRADE was a strong winner at the opening meeting and looks the kind of horse who can continue on his winning ways. He jumps cleanly, he travels and he stays out of trouble. No reason why he couldn’t find the front here and looks well suited with the 5kg pull on main rival Rivarola. RIVAROLA is clearly talented but his race pattern will eventually see him undone. Huge respect, big danger but does concede Casual Trade a head start and significant weight. RHINO’S LAD doesn’t historically fire fresh but he loves the Carnarvon 1400 circuit. LOOKING GREAT a last start Pinjarra 1300m C3 victor. Must be a huge hope. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – CASUAL TRADE WIN RACE 5 HERITAGE SASH ran second with 62kg at Dongara when finishing a narrow second behind talented front runner Song of Vincent so ticks the box as a proven weight carrier, then in 70+ company at Geraldton ran into Wildonbrook (who was in the middle of a purple patch) and beat home subsequent winner Kenyluck. Stepped to 1400m last start, nothing went right and he was beaten a mile. Back in trip, back in grade and kept fresh. Should go well. CALABRIA JOE won an 1100m 64+ at Geraldton back in June 2020and has always been competitive in c70+ company. PREMIO MOMENTO is rarely beaten far at Carnarvon. KLONDIKE KENNY sneaks in at the bottom and will have admirers. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet – HERITAGE SASH WIN RACE 6 URBAN GIRL is a lightly raced mare who loves racing in Carnarvon. Fingers crossed she leaves cleanly so that Natasha Faithfull can kick through underneath them to lead. If she finds the front she’s hard to run down. TUMUT RIVER was a good find by many astute punters last time out. If he reproduces he’s very much in the mix. MORDOR was dominant at his Zach Tyler debut. See no reason why he can’t continue on through the grades. COUNTER DRIVE ran a ripper last start at Geraldton. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – URBAN GIRL WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 6,7,8 2,3,5,6 1,2,3,9 1,2,3,6,7,8,9,11 Market Market
