Deane Lester’s Caulfield Best Bets Posted on April 16, 2021April 16, 2021 | Posted by Deane Lester RACE 1 NO.2 MAHAMEDEIS MAHAMEDEIS has been a previous winner at the Super VOBIS Gold Breeders day and looks ideally placed to add another win to his career tally when he contests the VOBIS Gold Heath (2000m). The six year old ran a cracking third behind HANG MAN in the Easter Cup (2000m) at Caulfield on April 3. That is clearly the strongest formline for this race and that’s why he will be one of the shortest priced favourites of the day that should be winning. RACE 6 NO.7 TRAMONTANA The Showdown (1200m) is the feature race for the two year olds and has brought together a strong field of youngsters which may provide a value opportunity with TRAMONTANA. The son of Toronado has only had two starts and comes off a luckless last start 2nd over 1100 metres at Sale on February 12. He has trialled well at Wodonga in preparations for a return to racing and will be suited stepping up to 1200 metres from a wider draw which should allow him to receive more galloping room than his last start. It’s a tough race but TRAMONTANA represents good each way value. RACE 8 NO.11 PAUL’S REGRET Talented mare PAUL’S REGRET is well placed to record the best win of her career when she runs in the VOBIS Gold Sprint (1200m). It was only two starts back that the Peter Chow trained mare finished a brave 2nd behind the multiple Group one winner PROBABEEL in the Bellmaine Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on February 6. She trialled strongly at Terang recently and looks the best bet of the day at nice odds. Market Market
