Chris Nelson’s Saturday Eagle Farm Preview Posted on July 31, 2025July 31, 2025 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Eagle Farm racing in Brisbane on Saturday, chance of a shower about however the forecast suggests not much. Just a small field to go around in this opening race where I’m with (3) JUST FLYING who maps to lead this race clearly & based on his last start should prove very hard to get past. (1) GALIFIANAKIS almost caused a huge upset first up when narrowly beaten at $101, didn’t quite finish off the latest wasn’t far away though. (5) HABEEBAH & (6) LIBERTY STEPS in the mix. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 2 (2) GIVE GIGGLES shouldn’t have any issues finding the front here & from there based on her recent form will prove very hard to get past. Narrowly beaten here in Saturday company last start she’d won here the run prior, gets the top jockey to steer. (5) ONE ‘N” ONLY was a definite eye-catcher first up running on well from a clear last, suggest with the step up in distance she’ll be back to her normal on-pace pattern. Scratched from next race (10) SICILIAN maps ideally once again. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 10 – 9 Suggested Bet: GIVE GIGGLES TO WIN/Saving ONE ‘N’ ONLY. RACE 3 (8) VINDICTA romped home first up at the Sunshine Coast parking up on the speed before careering away early in the straight. She can only improve with that run under her belt & going back to her previous to last prep she ran a good second behind the smart Press Link who ended up in Hong Kong. (9) AIR WE GO is only lightly raced with good upside whilst (3) PARETO is a definite market watch. Not a great deal of depth to this race. Numbers: 8 – 9 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet: VINDICTA TO WIN. RACE 4 Keep coming back to (4) ROCK HARD LOVE who backs up from a terrific run last Saturday when in a very awkward spot back in the field at Doomben. Ryan Maloney weaved his way through the pack just missing out on the line going down by less than half a length. (3) MERCHANT FLYER backed up from a good third at Doomben with a poor effort here, suggest he didn’t handle that or this surface, give another chance. (5) RING BEARER goes in off a solid last start effort when wide throughout. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet: ROCK HARD LOVE TO WIN. RACE 5 Can’t tip against (1) TUFF TU MUS who is shooting for his 7th win in succession which is certainly a rarity these days. Thought he was excellent last start rising in distance off a 4-week break, he rises a further 215m today however the break is only 3 weeks. (3) ZAPHOD & (5) CHICA MOJITO don’t win out of turn, certainly the latter doesn’t. What they do well is run placings though & they get their chance to do exactly that once again. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet: TUFF TU MUS TO WIN. RACE 6 Good race for the 3yo’s. I’m backing two runners being (2) SPECIAL ARTIST & (4) SPANISH TREASURE. The former beat the latter in a maiden run here over 1000m early last month, they then met again with SPANISH TREASURE turning the tables however little went right for SPECIAL ARTIST. (5) ALPHA SOPHIE was the race winner, she had a tempo to suit & may now be looking for further though. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet: SPECIAL ARTIST & SPENISH TREASURE TO WIN. RACE 7 Don’t see any great reason to jump off (7) CHO OYU who went forward at his last start which was here & he kept on going to the line for a strong win. His previous run he caught the eye charging home along the fence at Ipswich suggesting he’s a versatile type however with a lack of speed in this race he’s likely to again go forward. (10) BIG BOY GEORGE chased him home last time & can run the quinella once again. Big watch on (11) CAVALRY MAN who has his first local outing, first up record is a good one, market? Numbers: 7 – 10 – 11 – 6 Suggested Bet: CHO OYU EACH-WAY (small bet). RACE 8 (2) METALART gets the speed here to suit dropping back in distance, no reason he can’t win again & make it 3 from 5 this prep. A winner at Group 3 level last start he’s been freshened right up to help cope with the drop in trip & look for him to get over the leaders late. (3) HOLD ON HONEY resumed recently at 1200m which was always going to be a stretch, much better placed here back to 1000m & from the good draw will lead. (1) STEADY READY had every chance last, his best beats these though & his record at the track is a very good one. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet: METALART TO WIN. RACE 9 (13) PEREILLE is former James Cummings now with Tony Gollan & on his best form he surely beats these. He does tend to run more placings than record wins, many more in fact however coming out of a Listed race last start when second down the Flemington straight surely is better form than anything else in this race. (3) TALTARNI FIELDS maps ideally, falls in weight & holds a very consistent strike rate, must include at a good price. (12) CASPERNOVA is due whilst (7) JOHN RAMBO is always a hope, he just needs the gaps in the straight. Numbers: 13 – 3 – 12 – 7 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. Market Market
