Chris Nelson’s Randwick Best Bets Posted on September 15, 2022 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 5 No.5 Cross Talk Freshened up ticks plenty of boxes on Saturday. Just found the mile trip a shade too far at Hawkesbury last time out being overhauled late in the race by a pair of Waller runners after looking likely to hold on inside the 200m. Back to 1400m here he’s had the benefit of a trial at Canterbury (1 Sept) clocking in 2nd which keeps his fitness levels where they should be. Leads clearly, handles wet ground very well and has a definite fitness edge over some of his better performed rivals who are aiming at bigger spring targets further down the track. RACE 6 No.5 Zougotcha Chris Waller trained filly who resumed with a strong win in the Silver Shadow here a month back. She got through nearest the inside once into the straight and was strong right to the line beating the luckless In Secret who had all sorts of trouble gaining clear running. We saw her come out and make up for that defeat at Rosehill last Saturday. The track will be wet on Saturday which won’t concern this one at all, all her best form has been on rain affected ground. RACE 9 No.9 Benaud Absolutely primed to run very well stepping up to 2000m on Saturday. He really has put in two eye-catching performances this prep firstly in the Group 1 Winx (1400m) before second up in the Group 2 Chelmsford (1600m) running home solidly on each occasion. He’s an out and out stayer who won’t find this ground any worse than his latest run suggesting the weather certainly isn’t going to stop him on Saturday. Another with plenty in his favour.
