Chris Nelson’s Gold Coast Best Bets Posted on January 10, 2019January 15, 2019 | Posted by Chris Nelson Chris Nelson’s Best Bets RACE 5 No.3 Houtzen Star mare who although short in the early markets is likely to get out to a better price come race time as she has drawn an awkward alley… or has she? I would say no, she has drawn widest of the three on pacers however there’s no reason Jeff Lloyd can’t take a trail as she’s not the one dimensional speedball she was in her earlier days. Whatever the case he will sum things up pretty quickly and I’m confident she’ll be winning! RACE 6 No.1 Invincibella Class mare who only needs to settle close enough in the run to blow her opposition away. Close up at Flemington in Group 1 company over the spring she drew wide in a race at Doomben fresh & tracked deep all the way, she still managed to run on and clock a quick final 200m sectional when nothing really went her way. There’s no great speed in the race suggesting Hugh Bowman will have her handy and ready to strike in the straight. RACE 7 No.8 Outback Barbie Super mare who ran the unbeaten Zoustyle to less than a length two starts back over 1200m at Doomben. The step up to 1350m last start seemed ideal until she drew the carpark, as a result she raced wide throughout and struck some interference near the turn. Things didn’t improve in the straight being held up, once clear very late she attacked the line well. Perfect gate, all things being equal I can’t see her being beaten!
