Chris Nelson’s Doomben Best Bets Posted on June 8, 2018 | Posted by Chris Nelson Chris Nelson’s Best Bets RACE 3 No.2 Assimilate Really did catch the eye when flying home over the latter stages here in the Fred Best a fortnight back (1350m). That followed up a solid second placed finish at Scone behind his very promising stablemate Moss Trip (1400m). He should be well suited by the step up to 1600m tomorrow and is from a Commands mare suggesting the wet track won’t hinder his chances. RACE 6 No.5 The Autumn Sun Class act who is unbeaten to date from the Chris Waller yard who target this race strongly each winter. They have more than one good chance tomorrow however I’m very keen on this beautifully bred colt to land the Group 1 at only his third race start. Really found the line late at Randwick over 1400m at his last win suggesting the mile tomorrow is just made to order. Just has to handle the wet ground to win. RACE 7 No.11 Lucky For All In what shapes up as a cracking Queensland Derby this very lightly raced galloper from the Darren Weir yard looks well placed on a dry track however now even more so on rain affected ground. Dominant his first two wins this prep, out of luck completely last time he really should be 3 from 3 this campaign. Won on heavy, won twice on soft, the wetter the better!
