Chris Nelson’s Doomben Best Bets Posted on June 26, 2020 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 4 No.3 Scathing Consistent gelding from the Chris Munce yard who’s last couple of outings have been solid efforts in Group 3 company behind the likes of Hightail and Dawn Passage. Comes into the race tomorrow off a freshen up of 4 weeks however he did win a trial in quick time at Doomben last week. Awkward draw on paper however confident he can slide over early and find a prominent spot. RACE 7 No.1 Scallopini Best horse in the race who will relish the step up to 1350m tomorrow having charged home to win first up (1110m) and again finding the line in strong style second up (1200m) closing from last. Inquiry does look the clear leader and should give a good sight around Doomben, can he hold off the booming finish of Scallopini who will settle closer tomorrow? I very much doubt it! RACE 9 No.2 Pinnacle Star Sunshine Coaster from the Vandyke yard who should be right at his peak third up from a break tomorrow. Probably wasn’t going to win last start however a block early on in the straight certainly didn’t help his chances, once into the clear he closed the race off nicely to the line albeit without threat. With a touch of luck off an awkward gate he looks the one to beat. Quaddie 6, 7 1, 7 2, 6 2 Market Market
