Caulfield 27 February – Thoroughbreds Preview Posted on February 26, 2016February 26, 2016 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Preview RACE 3 NO.1 PASADENA GIRL Quality filly PASADENA GIRL looks one of the standout bets of the day when she resumes from a spell in the Angus Armanasco Stakes (1400m). The daughter of Savabeel was winless in five runs during spring, however she was being aimed at the Oaks and lacked the necessary dash in the shorter races. She proved in that campaign that she is not a genuine stayer, so trainer Peter Moody has decided to train her for the sprint-mile fillies races and her recent trials would suggest that she has regained the dash that saw her win at group one level as a two year old. She is clearly the best filly in this field and only needs reasonable luck to return to winning form. RACE 6 NO.3 TURN ME LOOSE TURN ME LOOSE will strip fitter for one run back from a spell and should bounce back to winning form when he contests the Futurity Stakes (1400m). The Murray Baker trained stallion looked fit enough to win the Orr Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on February 13, however he was a touch slow to begin and raced too keenly in the middle stages. He was still brave in defeat when finishing 4th behind SUAVITO and only needs to settle better in the run to exact revenge on SUAVITO and HUCKLEBUCK that finished ahead of him in the Orr Stakes. He’s a high class horse that appeals as the best bet of the day. RACE 9 NO.10 AZKADELLIA AZKADELLIA is on a preparation bound for group one races in Sydney in the coming weeks and can record her first stakes win when she contests the Mannerism Stakes (1400m). The four year old was luckless when group one placed behind POLITENESS in the Myer Classic (1600m) on Derby Day and kicked off her current preparation with a solid second behind TUSCAN SLING in the Belmaine Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on February 13. She just peaked on her run that day suggesting that she will be improved by that hit out and the extra distance of this race is in her favour. Damien Oliver will settle the mare in the back half of the field but expect her to come with a strong finishing burst and AZKADELLIA can send Caulfield punters home on a winning note. Bet Now!
