Deane’s Saturday Caulfield Best Bets Posted on February 2, 2018 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Preview RACE 2 NO. 3 LOGAN RIVER The Chairman’s Stakes (1000m) has been a good race for two year olds in recent years with the past two winners being 2016 Blue Diamond winner EXTREME CHOICE and last year it was the top filly FORMALITY winning before her Blue Diamond placing. In this year’s renewal, there are several first starters which complicates things however LOGAN RIVER is a horse that hasn’t had things go his way in two starts to date and could be a sharp improver. The son of Snitzel struck a wet track when finishing 3rd over 1000 metres at Sandown on debut before struggling to adapt to the right handed way of racing when finishing 6th in the Inglis Nursery (1000m) at Randwick on December 16. He has been freshened up and looks a strong chance in this race especially with the benefit of race experience. RACE 3 NO. 2 TWITCHY FRANK Lightly raced filly TWITCHY FRANK is building an impressive record and looks the one to beat again when she runs in the Ian Miller Handicap (1400m). The Darren Weir trained filly has won three of her four starts to date including an all the way victory over 1400 metres at Flemington on January 13. She looks well placed again and gets the benefit of Ethan Brown’s 2kg claim. It’s a solid race but TWITCHY FRANK has the credentials to continue on her winning way. SuperPick - RACE 3 NO. 2 TWITCHY FRANK - Win Boost RACE 7 NO. 9 BEDFORD The Mal Seccull Handicap (2000m) looks a match race between two progressive horses in WILLI WILLI and BEDFORD and they look a terrific quinella, however leaning to BEDFORD who has had a run at this distance, receives 4kg off WILLI WILLI and has already recorded a win at Caulfield last start. BEDFORD has made terrific development with two wins and two placings this campaign, and this looks the natural progression for him. Bet Now
