Greg’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on April 7, 2017April 7, 2017 | Posted by Greg Hooper Greg Hooper’s Preview RACE 1 SNOW LORD has impressed all campaign including a good second in a strong three-year-old sprint last week. From gate 3 Pike can lead or take the sit. I think that gives him the edge. JUST A FLUKE was a dominant Pinjarra maiden winner. He comes over from the outside to lead or breeze. AEROZINE has always been a injury plagued galloper but on his day he can stretch them over this trip. TENTERDEN raced flat last start however a return to prior form sees him go close. Numbers – 4 – 7 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – SNOW LORD WIN RACE 2 Five of the ten runners are on their race track debut. Though the Jim Taylor trained filly DYNAMITE DREAM looked the most professional and impressive of the debutantes. The blinkers go on and from gate she should kick through to lead. ROYAL STRATA is a consistent filly with race experience on her side. DAINTY PAT and DANES MAREE both trialled well. Numbers – 10 – 2 – 8 – 9 Suggested Bet – DYNAMITE DREAM AND ROYAL STRATA RACE 3 MAREGA came off an eight week break at Pinjarra and was solid over what looked an unsuitable trip. Expecting he improves off that run and he should appreciate the rise in trip. DUCK FEET has run well in both career starts and W Pike jumps on. He’s drawn a gate in which he should get every mortal in running. MASSA MAC led and was game behind the handy Stellar Ignition. KEEPER’S SON looks the leader and has claims. Numbers – 11 – 9 – 12 – 10 Suggested Bet – MAREGA AND DUCK FEET RACE 4 This appears a very messy race with no natural leader. FOREVER DIAMONDS was solid first-up. The rise to 1400m suits and wouldn’t surprised if she settle in the first couple in running. DENDEE is always a chance when saved up for a big finishing burst. LET IT SLIP and JESTAJINGLE have claims. Numbers – 5 – 2 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – FOREVER DIAMONDS WIN RACE 5 MORE ACES is up in class but will appreciate getting down to 54kg and he has drawn to lead. Think he can give this race a big shake. CONSEATED is a very honest and tough mare. Suspect she will need to do the bullocking outside the leader. GIGANTE gets a lovely tag just behind the speed. POTENT SECRET is a noted weight lifter and can figure despite the 61kg impost. Suggested – 8 – 5 -2 – 1 Suggested Bet – MORE ACES WIN RACE 6 Keen on the chances of both INFATHUATED and RIPPER RIO. Despite the 60.5kg impost for INFATHUATED I’ll lean his way. He was enormous in defeat last start and this race looks a much better set up for him as he’ll be able to tag the likely leader Rosmartini and not be left a sitting shot as far from home as he was last start. RIPPER RIO looks a horse who will work through the grades nicely for his new trainer Grant Williams. THE COBBLA looks close to a win. POLITICS is flying but this race looks to contain much more depth to what he has been contesting. Numbers – 1 – 3 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – INFATHUATED AND RIPPER RIO RACE 7 At the prices on offer happy to be aboard GANGBUSTER who drops back to a much more suitable distance range after failing to run out a strong 2200m in the Melvista. He showed his class at this distance range with a second in the Challenge and a win in the Lex Piper (1600m). QUILISTA does looks clearly the testing material again. She is simply flying this campaign and she handled the rise to 1400m with ease at Bunbury drawing clear late. Pike can lead or tag the speed with her. VAIATION loomed in the same race at Bunbury but found the filly a little too sharp late. If he improves off that run he can give this a shake. MINUS LOOKS ran well first-up and should appreciate the rise in trip. Numbers – 2 – 5 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – GANGBUSTER SAVE QUILISTA RACE 8 The scratching of the early favourite has rocked this race. Now happy to go for VERY TEMPTING to make it the Oaks-Derby off the 1 week break. The last time we saw this happen was when Dreamaway took out he double in 2011 in for the same owner and trainer. Of the colts and geldings GATTING and FINAL SALUTE appear the two best chances and with the bar plate being added to Final Salute leaning towards the latter. TAXAGANO looks like he’ll really appreciate the rise to 2400m. Numbers – 13 – 1 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – VERY TEMPTING WIN RACE 9 ROYAL MISSILE looks a class above these in this final race of the day. If she can use her good draw and be within striking distance on straightening I think she can deliver a knockout blow . MAJINIKA has been given a 4 week freshen-up after a flat last start effort. He can lead or breeze and prove the one to run down. KEY TO FAME is another who returns from a freshen-up. He’s another speed horse with claims. STAR GLITTER has place claims. Numbers – 11 – 1 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet – ROYAL MISSILE WIN Bet Now
