Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on April 21, 2026April 21, 2026 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 STREET MONARCH trialled well behind impressive first-up winner Cos I Am and then had no luck from four back the fence on debut in the Gimcrack. Love the way she travelled into it, tried hard to find clear galloping room and then finished off hard once clear. Wide open race with many chances but she’s undeniably one of them. CONSIGNMENT resumed in the Perth Stakes and with Afireofgidgeecoals and Beatty running the quinella in the Karrakatta Plate on Saturday that’s the form line that many will understandably be with. He’ll continue to improve with racing and looks a nice horse of the future. SUPER FATALE went very close on debut behind Wolf Whistle Zel at Pinjarra and then first-up without a barrier trial 3 months later went into the Gimcrack and finished right alongside Street Monarch. Nothing between them. VINNY NAY looks an early running type from the trials. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 8 – 7 Suggested Bet – STREET MONARCH EACHWAY RACE 2 BELAURA STAR is only coming out of a maiden but it was an impressive return to racing and it’s hard to ignore how well the Tiarnna Noske team is going at the minute. Think he can sit back here and wind up into the contest and measure up at this level. LINCHPIN resumed last prep at 1200m in the WA Breeders Classic and ultimately that was his best run of the preparation, finishing 2L behind multiple Stakes winning fillies Playin’ It Sweet and the now Quokka placed Talkanco. He wasn’t at his best after that run and looked flat and dour on occasions. Is a 39 day freshen enough to put the sprint back in his legs? SASSY SNIPPET hasn’t beaten much in terms of opposition at trials, but she’s been impressive to the eye and Pike sticks. GANGSTER GODDESS may well look to cross in a race without much speed and pressure. Holly Nottle in front = $$. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 10 – 7 Suggested Bet – BELAURA STAR EACHWAY RACE 3 TRULY LOYAL steps out for the first time for Steele Casey and William Pike. The most recent barrier trial of this horse was electric, putting an extending 3L margin on rivals and looking both sharp and powerful in the process. He’s drawn wide but on a day where the rail is at 14m with a cutaway they should be able to settle rearwards and wind up into the race, even over the short course. Looks above average. JOLSON AL will be at the other end of proceedings as a speedy jump and run type. He’ll take great benefit from his debut outing where he just punctured late. PERFECTLY PROPER is still a maiden after 7 outings but she is Saturday placed, Magic Millions placed and should be winning one in the very near future. GUARANTOR was a frustrating horse as a 2 year old. Threw away a few races through poor manners. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet – TRULY LOYAL WIN RACE 4 MANDIBLE MAGIC finished third behind Kings Court and Spicy Thang last start. Take away the one poor run at Belmont and she’s been in great form all campaign, maps a treat and will likely go around near double figures in an evenly graded affair. Should get the right run to play a part. GYPSY RHYME was scratched from Saturday to save for this. She’s very quick an should have no troubles crossing down to the fence. She’ll be in front for a fair way. LIPSTICK JUNGLE is 1 from 13 but she’s 2x C3 placed and Saturday 3 year old Plate placed. Back to the short course, Jefferson Tsang aboard with a 3kg claim and on a day where they should make ground. SHES CAPITANA has gone around in a 3 year old 0MWLY and 3 year old Saturday since resuming, this is far more appropriate for where she’s at. Numbers: 9 – 8 – 4 – 10 Suggested Bet – MANDIBLE MAGIC EACHWAY RACE 5 NONESOSPICY led and won a 3 year old midweek, a C1 and then a 3 year old Saturday back in November/December 2024. She only had one run last preparation (in pads) and was an alarming drifter and never got into the contest. Thought she trialled up much better this time around (no pads) and this both great placement and great use of the 3kg claim for Natika Riordan. She can come out running and be put into the contest early. HEDAWOOD will drop out, be ridden cold and come with a late run at them. Has flashed real X-Factor in a short career to date and nobody will forget the debut plunge that was landed that day at Belmont. BABY PEARL finds this much easier than the 3 year old Saturday races he was contesting when last in work. Can box seat with a cutaway to suit. MISS FINKMEYER was scratched from Saturday to save for this. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – NONESOSPICY WIN RACE 6 SATURDAY SESH looks to have found a really suitable race. He finished third in a 66+ behind Yougivemechills and Sunny Honey before over racing in the early and middle stages and bringing himself undone in another 66+ when beaten 2L behind Rally The Troops and Pond Master. Back in to a 0MWLY, maps to lead and strikes a line-up of horses who are either out of form or coming up sharply in grade. Looks the perfect storm. BLAZING EMERALD is trying hard and this is a great opportunity for stable apprentice Tiana Murray to sit in the box seat, follow the favourite’s every move and then dart up along the cutaway in the straight. I’M NIPOTE isn’t easy to catch but on his day he’s more than capable at this level. CAPORETTO has turned a corner in the last month. Racing much more consistently. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – SATURDAY SESH WIN RACE 7 ROYAL TROOPER put on a staying clinic last start with a dominant 4.4L win. He copped 5 points for it but actually drops 1kg start to start into a race that doesn’t have any more depth to it. Was great to see him jump, use the barrier to advantage and then get a real confidence boosting win. He did finish third to Arcadia Park and Fancy Red in a belmont Classic as a 3 year old and looks on paper the one they have to beat. ARGYLE STAR won a 0MWLY 2200 at Kalgoorlie on the 2 day back-up when last in work over the traditional, annual race round. May have only won the Dongara Cup last start but is a winner in a higher grade than this on the grass previously and Pike is 1/1. Danger. VIVAROCK can get it cheap three back fence and use the cutaway. Big win last start off a 40 day freshen? HIERONYMUS BOSCH has backed up once in his life and it saw him split Savorski and Simply in this grade under 60kg. Watch. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – ROYAL TROOPER WIN RACE 8 FLAMING RONDA is looking to take the step from a country maiden into a metro C1 and carries 1kg more, however, she trialled super, she won effortlessly and the runner-up won on Sunday to somewhat frank the form. This race doesn’t run deep and gives her a wonderful look in at notching back to back victories to start the prep. MUST BE NICE can miss away and that’s a big issue but he did beat Flaming Ronda in his maiden and if he can run to the level that saw him finish third to Shaula and Across Generations in aC1 1500 at Ascot in October then he’s a winning chance in a race like this. NICKELPLAY is becoming a bit of a tease. Since breaking her maiden she has run four minor placings (2x C1, 2x C3) but never really looked a winning threat at any stage. TRAILER TRUCK bolted in at Pinjarra last start and defied a big betting drift. Get a sighter into the form through Quokka Rocka earlier in the day. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – FLAMING RONDA WIN RACE 9 HURRICANE HARLEY isn’t a 1000m horse. He disappointed first-up but it was a 3 year old Saturday that contained Snitzalatte, Swingman and Slip The Jab who have run the trifecta again since. Drops in grade, out to a more suitable 1200m, Holly Nottle jumps on and maps to get the right run. Like the set up for him. SNOW GOD is a horse the market froths. He has been a firmer at 8 of his 10 career outings and this won’t be any different. 61.5kg, barrier 10/11 and speed underneath him. He’ll need to be at his best. FRIARS LEGACY led and won at Belmont to break his maiden impressively and since then has been honest without being outstanding. Placed to Country God on a Saturday, placed to Vandoula Jet and Muddy Waters at midweekers. Has again trialled well and will command a lot of market respect, but yet to be fully sold. DAYTONA PETE is a previous Saturday winner who resumed impressively at Ascot off a 300+ day lay off. Only improves. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet – HURRICANE HARLEY EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 2,3 1,2 2,3,5,7 1,6,8 Market Market
