Matt Young’s Friday Gloucester Park Preview Posted on October 22, 2026October 22, 2026 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 BAZAAR PACKAGE (3) looks to bounce out and get to the top in this and looks hard to run down, she has that early speed and inside runners are hand up types, form has been sound and is a good front runner. TROUBADOUR (8) is second up and has the ability, will likely head forward and try and be on speed. HER PRESENCE (12) hit the line well last start and is likely to continue that improvement but won’t get the same good run, should punch through and be handy enough. JOEY JAMES (1) ideally drawn to be a place chance, THE BETTOR SIDE (9) is always a place chance and will be making ground late. MAGIC CAPTAIN (6) will head forward early and also represents novelty claims. Tips: 3 12 8 1 Suggested Bet: BAZAAR PACKAGE (3) to win. Race 2 RUMBLE STRIP (2) returns and has no trials to show for it, he is a brilliant front running type and should be ready to go but you’ll be diving into a short quote about him which is never ideal on a horse back from a spell. MY HAMMER DOWN (1) hit the line well last start against good horses and has the ideal draw, he has fitness and will be dangerous late, deserves a win as the horse is absolutely flying. LOU LAMOUR (3) has good early speed but with no back line they may just restrain immediately to the pegs and becomes a place chance, but temptation could be there to get one spot closer. MAJOR DISCO (5) is racing in good form; he is always around the mark and must be respected as a top 3 chance with CAPTAIN STIRLING (7). Tips: 2 1 5 3 Suggested Bet: RUMBLE STRIP/MY HAMMER DOWN to Quinella. Race 3 PENNY BLACK (9) is the class as she comes in off a little freshen up, whatever she does in this she will improve on, but she likes to roll so will be up outside the pace and be dangerous. STELLAR EDITION (1) hasn’t tasted defeat this time in and rises to her biggest test, think Chris Voak will give her a chance to see if she can take the next step and the tempo will be genuine. This will suit REINETTE (10) who hit the line bolting last start and that was coming in first up, reunited with her old mate Trent Wheeler and looks dangerous. BEETASTIC (3) had no luck last run and is racing well, will be close enough. LITTLE DARLING (8) capable but through poor maps and draws, she hasn’t had much luck. Tips: 10 9 3 1 Suggested Bet: REINETTE (10) each way. Race 4 (Best Bet) HARRISON JOHN (7) is a strong horse where this distance should suit and the stable is absolutely flying at the right time of the year, looks the breeze horse in this and after they sort themselves out, he will be on speed and in control. ALTA TRIBUTE (9) hit the line well last run, difficult draw but will be working into it late and distance suits him. HUGOTASTIC (10) will be running on as per usual and if a few breaks go his way he can win. ROCKANDROLLARTIST (2) has the speed to lead but hasn’t been at his best for a while, 2500m has never been his go and same story for FRANCO ENCORE (3) who likes to lead but is unplaced in 3 runs at the trip. MAXIMUM ROCK (5) would give some cheek if he could find the top, he is racing in tremendous fashion but a lot of question marks on whether he can lead. MACHNIFICENT (6) will be running on, he is racing well. Tips: 7 10 9 5 Suggested Bet: HARRISON JOHN (7) to win. Race 5 MAD MONDAY (4) is an outstanding front running type and looks to find the lead, the times he can run at the middle distance are sensational and they will need to be against these horses, but his return win was first class and looks hard to run down. RUNKLE CRUNCH (5) is a star in his own right, good test being outside the speed chasing, but he won’t give up the chase. CYCLONE JORDY (9) has had a mass exodus from punters and is unloved in this, never write off a star and his high speed is still good enough to overcome the draw, but it does look difficult. STORMY VISTA (1) is going to be close to the speed, and I think that’s a negative against these types, top 4 chance but has some nice types who will be running him down including OUR CRUNCH TIME (10), LAZI DAIS (11) and SOHO SHAKEDOWN (12). Tips: 4 5 9 10 Suggested Bet: MAD MONDAY (4) to win. Race 6 Open race. WHEN IN VEGAS (1) wasn’t as sharp in front as I expected last run and they may look for cover in this, WHATARETHEODDS (2) led and was run down last run and pricked his ears the last 400m, he looks to be a better chaser than leader. SOUTH SIDE STORY (3) is a decent on speed horse, but this class has levelled him out a bit. MIKIS PRIDE (5) is racing well and is versatile and that’ll be a driving force to a potential victory for him. ELWADDELL (4) will look to get forward but can mix his early speed. A LITTLE SILENCE (6) returns from a tricky draw and will have to do some work. OPAL HUNTER (7) racing well but requires some luck if he goes back and if he goes forward there is plenty of speed underneath. TIGER ROYAL (8) is a decent chance but needs luck with SAIFA (10) and SKYLORD (11). I’d be playing wide in the quaddie. Tips: 5 11 8 7 Suggested Bet: SKYLORD (11) each way. Race 7 MANUKA BAY (4) is in top form and looks to use that early speed to get herself to the top again and she broke the spirits of some nice fillies last time out from that role, goes against the boys and looks to do the same. DELTARIFFIC (5) is lightly raced but has unbelievable high speed, small field suits and will settle close enough, his biggest test. IN RARE AIR (2) has come back soundly and will be driven forward and has options, can be at the pointy end. SIGNATURE LOOK (3) is racing better than form suggests, could fly under the radar and get home well. MATERNAL DREAMS (6) and BETTER TOGETHER (7) both capable but drawn tricky. Tips: 4 5 2 3 Suggested Bet: MANUKA BAY/DELTARIFFIC to Quinella. Race 8 MAJOR EXPRESS (9) was good with his well-deserved victory last time out and it came with some adversity, can overcome the draw again and will be hard to hold out. CAPTAIN SAID SO (6) ran into bother in the same race and will look to keep the advantage from the draw here, hard to run down if he can find the top. TURBO JAY (4) might have something to say about that, good front running type but has been mixing his form with his gate. CEE DEE THREE (8) has that good closing speed to bring him into it late to be a novelty chance with other hopes including I BET YOU (3), TRAVELBAN (5), THE BEAUDSTER (7) and KINKY (11). Tips: 9 6 4 8 Suggested Bet: CAPTAIN SAID SO/MAJOR EXPRESS to Quinella. Race 9 TREACHEROUS PRINCE (6) was a good win from the breeze on return and looks to have the attributes needed to go on with it and add another win, looks hard to hold out again. JETPACK (9) has turned a corner and is racing in top form, he will need that to continue to overcome the draw but should be in the money. REINE DU SOLEIL (3) has improved since coming back and looks to have good ability, will be a good test for her. SEASPIRIT (2) has good early speed and is always a novelty chance. VALENTINO (7) will be running on; he is always lurking around the money. ELQUESTRO (5) is worth throwing into the novelties at a big price, has ability. Tips: 6 9 3 2 Suggested Bet: TREACHEROUS PRINCE (6) to win.
