Scott Embry’s Saturday Laverton Preview Posted on October 22, 2026October 22, 2026 | Posted by Scott Embry Race 1 INSPIRATIONAL MAC was the best run last week in a field of 5 who are all on the 7 day back-up from Leinster to Laverton. In that race, he ran second beaten 1.9L, Unruly dame ran fourth beaten 12L, Sambuca Rose ran fifth beaten 13.2L and the new additions I Am A Rockstar and Willyabrup both come through the 1400m Class B Trophy race. By process of elimination he goes on top. I AM A ROCKSTAR wants further not shorter but did beat him home at Leonora in the 1200m maiden. SAMBUCA ROSE didn’t seem to appreciate straight racing. WILLYABRUP wishes there was another lap. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – INSPIRATIONAL MAC WIN Race 2 BUON AMICI joins Ray Malpass after her first attempt on the dirt at Leonora was disappointing and then another moderate run on the grass back at Kalgoorlie last Sunday. On the 6 day spin and hopefully here Simone Altieri can get him out and rolling because his only win was a 1400m maiden when leading. LEG GODT won over 1000m down the straight at Leinster last weekend. Now 7 days later will tackle 1400m with an extra kilo on his back and an apprentice rider rather than a senior. Could be vulnerable at the end of the race? TINY CHAMPION has run third at her last four but easily beaten on every occasion. GIGI GOGO was a sharp improver last week. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – BUON AMICI WIN Race 3 ADDICTIVE DREAM is a new horse under Ray Malpass. She has won three of her last four including the identical version of this race last weekend. Rises up 5kg week to week with a 3kg claimer replaced by a senior but she’s going super. MAGIC MONEY was well tried in early markets last week and then got the blows in late betting. He was 54 days between runs, he was having his first start on the dirt and he got back and did a few things wrong at 1000m. 7 days later he gets out to 1400m and hopefully with that dirt experience under his belt we can see him prove sharply week to week. BLOWIN SMOKE dipped on jumping last week and that was race over for him. GINGERIFFIC never looked like being run down in the Class B Trophy Race last week at Leinster. This is tougher. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – ADDICTIVE DREAM WIN Race 4 CASINO ROYALE loves the back-up. Maiden win = off 7 days, C1 win = off 7 days, last weekend’s win = off 7 days, and now he’s heading another 7 days into a very winnable race. Like a few of Ray Malpass’ horses from last week the difference between Leinster and Laverton is 2 or 3kg apprentice to senior rider so they’re all up sharply in weight but he was safely holding Power To Rule to the line last week. POWER TO RULE does get a 3kg weight swing for a 1.7L margin. If he can get across early from a wide draw it’s game on. MYSTERY BULLET went well behind Addictive Dream and coming back to 1200 may help? SANCTIONS ran fourth in the same race as Casino Royale and Power To Rule and being 63 days between runs may have needed the outing Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – CASINO ROYALE WIN Race 5 (Best Bet) CLIMB ON TOP is looking to win yet another dirt sprint feature. He has a trophy from Broome, a trophy from Moora and a trophy from Leinster and is showing no signs of stopping. Got 3 points in Broome, got 3 points at Moora and then copped 4 points last week at Leinster so he’s right up in the weights now (63.5kg after the claim) but he’s winning with ease? We go again. REPEATER his stablemate won well at Mingenew and then has been disappointing (and very easy in betting) at his last two. Hopefully can bounce back. LADY COCO didn’t run 1400m last week at Leinster. SHOOTING KONTIKI rose to a c67 early in the Carnarvon season, back down to a c62 now. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – CLIMB ON TOP WIN Race 6 BOAB BOY won the 2025 Leonora Cup by 10.4L, got rolled at Leinster and then rebounded at Laverton to win the Cup by 6.25L. In 2026 he won the Leonora Cup by 5L and then Dave Smith made the decision to bypass Leinster and go straight to the Laverton Cup. He rises another 3.5kg to lump 62kg here but it’s a big margin for these horses to be turning around on him. GOT LUCKY is back to his best and last weekend added a second Leinster Cup to the cabinet. He ran second to Boab Boy last year and is going just as well 12 months later. WESTERN IMPACT continues to try hard but is finding the Boab Boys / Got Luckys a bit too good. LACEVINSKY might come out underneath Boab Boy early. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – BOAB BOY WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,6 1,2,3 1 1,4
