Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on October 20, 2026October 20, 2026 | Posted by Scott Embry Race 1 ANACONDA JONES is really well placed here. Resumed in a 3 year old Saturday behind Dawn Dancer and Luna Will Do and after returning with a minor self inflicted injury has had a month between runs and a tick over trial in between. If he crosses to the top it looks a really winnable race for him on paper. MYSTIC SMILE drops into a midweeker for the first time in her life. She’s drawn to box seat and she trialled up as well as sharp debutante winner Hansadios recently at Belmont Park over 850m. TWILIGHT STAR was a bit green and raw in her trial but the further they went the further she was extending away from them. Like the way she went about it. JUNIPER is undefeated two from two but the form out her races is questionable. None of the horses from her maiden have run a placing and her C1 win has produced 2x York winners. Up 3kg into a clearly tougher race. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet – ANACONDA JONES WIN Race 2 BOURBONONTHEROCKS will need to roll forward from his wide alley and hopefully he can get across to at least the breeze, if not roll on with it this week and take up the running himself. Solid on debut in a winner producing race behind Official Business and Firearm and then last week was unable to run down Hamadryad as a beaten favourite, however, they did stop the clock nearly 6L faster than average. On the quick back-up he’ll be the one that punters want. FROSTED WARRIOR ran third to Moose and Tex N Cee at Bunbury last start and had excuses. No real momentum and held up when he needed to get going. Building. LATINA MELODY ran well enough last start to suggest that stepping to 1400 she wasn’t without minor claims. XELCIMUS has amazingly featured in the Stewards Report at every one of her 13 outings. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 9 – 5 Suggested Bet – BOURBONONTHEROCKS WIN Race 3 STERN EMPIRE ran second to Ruthless Angel in a 2 year old Saturday before heading to the Supremacy and Gimcrack Stakes at the end of her juvenile campaign. She resumed last week in a 3 year old 0MWLY 1200 where she had absolutely no luck at all, held up in a messy race. She drops back into a maiden, she drops 3kg in weight and she strikes what looks to be the weaker of the two 1400m maiden splits. Great chance for her to lob three deep cover and wind up over moderate opposition. TEX N CEE has now run second at each of his three career outings and is a deserving favourite. If Moose doesn’t push his way off the fence at the 400 last start then he probably wins. ROCKING IN VEGAS deserves to win a maiden at some point. WAHOOCHINO was able to sprint well early last prep. Numbers: 13 – 8 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – STERN EMPIRE EACHWAY Race 4 PROFIT MOTIVE could not have trialled up much better recently at Belmont Park. Let rip with a huge turn of foot to gobble them up and looks yet another big winning chance for unstoppable trainer Mitchell Pateman. Last 90 days: 95 runners for 25 winners at 26.3% Strike Rate and 50.9% Profit on Turnover. Ludicrous areas. Looks hard to hold out. LADY TORQUE is a nice filly too and boasts a Group 3 WA Sires Placing to Beatty and Afireofgidgeecoals. She’s also placed in a Group 3 Gimcrack to Aurum Belle and Maria Lucia. It’s excellent form for a maiden. Logical danger. MORE DARLING did it tough on debut in a race that has held up as a form reference. MORIKAWA ran out of his skin in the Max Simmonds Stakes. Numbers: 10 – 7 – 11 – 4 Suggested Bet – PROFIT MOTIVE WIN Race 5 QUEDJINUP finds a new home with Brandon Fiore and is a high quality filly in the making. Big debut win at Bunbury over 1100m and then arguably should have won a Saturday event at her second outing when held up at crucial stages before matching motors over the last 100 with talented sprinter Rifleman. Little concerned that it’s a month between her trial and race day and that she was scratched on 7 October at Bunbury with a hoof abscess but trusting in her class to get her across the line. BARRON BILL similarly looks well placed as a Saturday winner in a midweek C1. Average SP of $2.15 across three starts will ensure he’s popular in betting. SECRET PLANET won well on debut, but it’s hard to line up the Heavy9 win, especially against a field who after 14 subsequent runs has produced 1x Gero maiden winner. UNIMANDO is a tough customer. Numbers: 11 – 1 – 9 – 3 Suggested Bet – QUEDJINUP WIN Race 6 (Best Bet) CASSANDRA will likely go from this C1 1400 a fortnight between runs into a Burgess Queen Stakes. Plunged on debut and wound up powerfully to beat a subsequent Saturday winner in Rocktex before suffering defeat second-up as an even money pop behind Perfume Princess (who won again last Wednesday at Ascot). Freshened up to attack the 3 year old features and looks to have too much firepower for these. PRODUCIMUS comes through a fast run race at Northam which has already produced a winner in Quick Cookie. Shades on first time too. SUPER SENTAI looks the likely leader in a very moderately run affair. TRAILER TRUCK was always going to find 1200 too short at Kalgoorlie. Numbers: 10 – 5 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – CASSANDRA WIN Race 7 VAMPI QUEEN was unlucky last start. Forgive, forget and follow her at her return to Belmont Park where she’s 2/2 undefeated. Broke her maiden bursting through impressively and backed it up with a strong C3 win. Back in grade, great use of the 1.5kg claim for Holly Nottle and provided they’re making ground then she should be able to sprint over the top of her rivals here and then head back into Saturday racing in the near future. Not a lot of fear factor in her rivals and looks really hard to beat. MISTRESS OF WAR should have no troubles crossing these and rolling to the top. That’s where she does her best work. BONDI STAR doesn’t stay? Coming out of 66+ racing back into a C3 and back to 1600m. Three back placed to Sandfire Rose and four back to Pure Mac. UNCLE GERARD is nearly impossible to catch but Annaya Pateman has him going well. Numbers: 4 – 9 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – VAMPI QUEEN WIN Race 8 OLDEN turned back the clock and won back to back staying races at Northam in 54+ and 50+ open handicaps. He then tested the waters on the 3 day spin in a 66+ on a Saturday and found horses like Miss Veuve, All Grunt, Starwalker, Rommeo, Snazzler and Chollima too classy. 25 days later he’s back in grade, he looks like leading uncontested and he’s likely to go around eachway in an open and even staying contest. Looks the right set up for him. BARNEY ROMMEL was having his first outing at a staying trip at Bunbury and was massive in defeat behind Consolidated. If he can find the right back to follow he’ll be coming hard late. ADMIRED is a grand old veteran who only three starts ago pinched another Saturday race at 100-1. He’ll keep whacking away. GOLD BEAU has blinkers reinstated and importantly his only win was in a set of shades. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – OLDEN EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,3,9,11 10 4 1,2,4,5,7,10,12,14,16
