Chris Nelson’s Saturday Eagle Farm Preview

RACE 1

Racing at Eagle Farm on Saturday will likely be on a wet surface with rain forecast. How much? Well that’s the question, some sites say a little, some say a lot…! Small numbers in most races today & that’s certainly the case in this opening 2yo affair. Tony Gollan’s (1) MARTIST got the job done on debut, wouldn’t say he was overly impressive & the time wasn’t quick however he beat a couple of these (2 & 6) & the additional trip should suit. (2) DOUBTWILLY led in the same race & had every chance whilst (6) HIT A LICK made late ground & based on that will appreciate 100m further today.

Numbers: 1 – 2 – 6 – 3

Suggested Bet: MARTIST TO WIN.

RACE 2

Small numbers in this week’s distance affair where 2400m plus could stretch a few of them. (3) KUREDER has won twice at this range suggesting it’s not going to worry him whatsoever & both have been here on this circuit. With a light weight & Angela Jones to steer he looks tough to beat. (4) LIBERY PARK stepped up to 2200m for the first time last start & won well, based on that he should handle further. (6) ALDEENAARY had no luck at this Gold Coast last start, this is harder however worth throwing into exotics.

Numbers: 3 – 4 – 6 – 5

Suggested Bet: KUREDER TO WIN (small bet).

RACE 3

Plenty of speed here through the likes Flaming Conquest & Find Your Own who are very pacy. (2) MOONHAVEN was heavily backed first up when out of the placings at the Sunshine Coast, obviously benefitted from the run as he was dominant winning here next time around. Even fitter again he can stalk these & with the claim assisting prove too strong at the business end of the race. (5) FIRST MISSION a big watch first up, may find the 1000m a little too short however won’t be far away & has trialled encouragingly. (6) ROYAL COMMODORE is very consistent & can figure in the placings once again.

Numbers: 2 – 5 – 6 – 3

Suggested Bet: MOONHAVEN TO WIN.

RACE 4

I’ll stick with (13) CREATIVITY MISS who although having only won the single race is a model of consistency having placed 3 of her past 4 outings with the unplaced effort two back also a good one. She rattled home late here last start which is her pattern as she has no early speed & don’t expect that to change here, she’ll need luck. (5) READY FOR THE TRIP isn’t a first up horse yet his run wasn’t bad, he can turn that around sharply here with the run under his belt. (8) CELESTIAL BLAZE won well fresh whilst (7) RUN LUCY RUN figures to lead on her own, will that be the case though?

Numbers: 13 – 5 – 8 – 7

Suggested Bet: CREATIVITY MISS EACH-WAY.

RACE 5

(3) FELIX THE SCAT is a very hard horse to catch however should the track stay dryish he’s a definite chance to break a winning drought here. Placed in a good race at the Gold Coast two back he again finished in the top three last start behind Prince Levi making a wide sustained run & sticking on right to the line. Stablemate (13) HOT MAJESTY just keeps running on in his races without winning, he really needs this race to be 2000m however I still cannot rule him out with the weight drop. (4) HEADHUNTER is a query at the trip however cannot be ruled out.

Numbers: 3 – 13 – 4 – 9

Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics.

RACE 6

Leaning to (4) LAST COMMAND here however there are a number of winning chances in the race. Jace McMurray can hopefully make some use of the good draw & settle him a little closer as he won’t want to give away too much start. The weight drop is significant & although yet to win at 1600m I don’t see any major issues. (5) MAKE A CALL a big threat, another who will settle off speed however Tony Gollan has really turned this horse around as he had a poor reputation as not being too honest, he’ll be rattling late however may need further? No knock (6) REZONE who ran into a very much in-form mare last start, drop back in distance works.

Numbers: 4 – 5 – 6 – 9

Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics.

RACE 7

Going wide & putting (8) PARADISE AS USUAL on top here. She’s a filly who just keeps on finding the line in her races suggesting the drop back 200m in distance doesn’t look ideal today however the 3 week freshen up will help & although still a maiden I’m convinced she can win one of these. (1) NORTH POLE beat her last start, led throughout setting moderate sectionals, the drop back in distance should suit him well. Chris Waller’s last start Hawkesbury winner (2) KOKATAHI not without a chance, lightly raced looks a progressive type.

Numbers: 8 – 1 – 2 – 11

Suggested Bet: PARADISE AS USUAL EACH-WAY (small bet).

RACE 8

I’m surprised about the odds in early markets for the resuming (2) ENTERPRISE LUCIA who will go around for a new yard this afternoon. She’s a good fresh mare with decent form who has won 2 of 4 first up, she’s won both lead up trials & I’d be disappointed to see her run poorly as she looks to have been set for a big return effort. (1) GOSPEL GIRL is a lot better than her last start suggests, that run was very much out of character, she can bounce back strongly. (3) CARAVILLA is racing well & was a last start Doomben winner, big weight rise however does map well.

Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 10

Suggested Bet: ENTERPRISE LUCIA EACH-WAY.

RACE 9

Keen on the chances of the second-up (6) FACUNDO who is yet to be beaten at the same stage of his only two preps to date. Sitting three-deep throughout when resuming he was entitled to tire in the straight however was right with the eventual winner 200m from the line before striking trouble, he wouldn’t have won however would have finished closer & can make amends today. (11) BUNDELLA gets in nice & light & looks the speed in the race, in the right yard & will take some catching. (5) ABOUT TO EXPLODE fitter second up returns to his favourite track.

Numbers: 6 – 11 – 5 – 3

Suggested Bet: FACUNDO TO WIN.
