Scott Embry’s Sunday Albany Preview Posted on March 6, 2026March 6, 2026 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 QUEEN SELYSE looks to have found the most winnable race of her career to date. She’s placed at two of her last four in the provincial area and these country maidens are even thinner. If she reproduces the runner-up to Tora Bora or third to Slick performances she’ll be hard to run down. BONDI EXPRESS is now 2019 back to 1800 back to 1600 and is rock hard fit. She’s drawn a much better barrier here in gate 5 and that should allow Tash Faithfull to hold a prominent position (did lead going back five starts ago. TASMAN JEWEL was well found in betting at odds last start at Albany and was doing her best work late and through the line. Like the step to 1600m for her. HUNDRED YARDS is doing a lot wrong at the races, but at the trials he is showing a bit of ability. Numbers: 10 – 3 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet – QUEEN SELYSE WIN RACE 2 LONGTIMEBELIEVER is a long time maiden. She’s placed at 5 of 13 and will no doubt find this easier than the Bunbury maiden behind Cassenite and Mamma Says So. Promised to win one for a while but this goes look another great chance on paper to finally break through. TRAILER TRUCK has shown glimpses across a short career to date. Was only 2L off Dominatus (now a C1 winner and Challenge Stakes placed colt) in a 1400m maiden after showing speed last campaign. LE BEAU ran third in a C2 last start at Albany and prior to that was beaten under 3L by Who’s Bent in a C1 at Ascot. Back into maiden company and drawn to get all the favours, however, ultimately still a 22 start maiden. I’M ALL THE FUNK makes her debut off the back of a solid trial win over a few key rivals. Numbers: 6 – 4 – 1 – 12 Suggested Bet – LONGTIMEBELIEVER WIN RACE 3 SPACE ACADEMY won a C1 1600 at Belmont last start when the blinkers went on and ran right through the line. Think he’ll keep getting better for the new stable and the way he bounded away from his metro rivals suggests he’ll be very hard to hold out here. CHEYNE BAY was forced to do it the tough way last start, caught three deep the trip from barrier 5. Nearly a straight swap metro rating to country rating (m65 – c66) and after the Bailey Webster claim looks really well placed by Adam Durrant. SKY GOD won this track/distance last start in a 64+ when racing outside the handicap. Copped the wrath of the handicapper as a result and burnt a whopping 11 points in the process. Now drops back into a C2 but rises 8.5kg start to start. VENUS KING best suited rolling. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – SPACE ACADEMY WIN RACE 4 FLYING SOUTH has to take the step from 58+ to 70+ company but he’s always promised to do exactly that. Senior rider goes back on, drops down 3kg to 55.5 and while he’s back in distance he’s been kept fresh 4 weeks between runs. Think he’s up to these. FLICK THE SWITCH has seemingly found her mark. She has run five consecutive minors, the last four as a beaten favourite and has been given every chance by Tash Faithfull a few times now. The 1200 seems to stretch her too, so thinking she’ll be vulnerable late. HEAD’EM was a huge win last start on a great day for Team Rogers. Has been a little hit and miss but at his best he’s hard to hold out. CRYSTALIST won the same day and while this is tougher he’s been in great consistent form for a while. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – FLYING SOUTH WIN RACE 5 BEST OF THE GODS has been enormous his last two since being beaten by Makin Prophets three starts ago. He was beaten half a length by Monte Tremezzo on Magic Millions Day and then backed it up with a barnstorming second behind highly impressive all the way winner Azena last time out. Back to Albany where he’s won 3 of his 4 career races and screaming out for a mile. MAKIN PROPHETS is extremely hard to follow, but as we again witnessed last start, when he’s on, he’s on. He’s now 38 days between runs and with a horse like him you’d have no idea whether he’s had a set back or whether Alan Smith is trying to trick him into reproducing! WAYNE THE PAIN took a big step from 46+ to 60+ company last time out. KAMIKAZE FIGHER let rip last start and the mare he beat won the Rose of York. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 8 – 10 Suggested Bet – BEST OF THE GODS WIN RACE 6 QUEEN ARIA is coming out of a 60+ Graduation at Pinjarra when third to Hey Pino. Drops from a m60+ into a c58+ and from the draw should be given every mortal chance by the region’s leading rider in Tash Faithfull. Love the way this mare has returned and looks very hard to beat. CRUISE TO RIO deserved that last start. She had been knocking the door down with three consecutive bridesmaid performances and then finally had her day in the sun when running down Capricious Ruler. Think now that she’s cleared C2 grade she can go on with it and this Ladies Bracelet looks a nice race for her to step up into. TOUSLED CROWN scratched Wednesday to save for this. THREE GRAND can cross them and give cheek. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 8 – 9 Suggested Bet – QUEEN ARIA WIN RACE 7 INSYDE SUCCESS is 7 weeks between runs fresh after doing a power of work under 60.5kg at Mt Barker from a horrible barrier. This time around he should stalk what looks a spirited speed battle up front and at his best he is better than C2 company in Albany. Hoping to finally see the real version bounce back. REGGIO CALABRIA took 21 starts to win a race and then as we so often see he went back to back winning a C2 at his very next outing, and he didn’t just win, he bolted in putting a near 3L margin on them. Quite simply, if he runs to that level again, he’ll be awfully hard to hold out. Imagine – 0/20 to 3/23. CASSENITE would have been a moral beat last start if she didn’t dart her way through towards the inside. Was an overdue win. She’s been going super all prep. NAILED’EM looks like doing a lot of work to get across from a tricky alley. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – INSYDE SUCCESS WIN Market Market
