Scott Embry’s Thursday Geraldton Preview Posted on February 17, 2026February 17, 2026 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 JUST PETTY CASH won a barrier trial over 1000m at Belmont beating Heaven Specified (maiden and 3 year old 0MWLY victor) and was kept safe on debut as a $5 chance at Northam when running well. Like the trial, like the map and looks winnable on paper. ENCOSTA DE MONEY has run into some nice ones at Belmont trials leading into his debut. Beyond Measure and Wonderfully Made before Cinque Stelle and Action Not Talk. Nothing with that type of ability in a Country maiden at Geraldton. GOOD SHOW heads to Geraldton on debut with a set of shades for the Peters Investments Team. ARCHENEMY got out of the ground at Geraldton fresh at 40-1 when flashing late at Gold Lightning. Can he reproduce? Numbers: 12 – 6 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – JUST PETTY CASH WIN RACE 2 MIGNIGHT STAR should prove too classy here. She finished 2L off Morf first-up at 1400m and then 2.5L off Luna Ascending last Thursday at Bunbury when settling a long way off them. Risk v Reward punting wise because she’ll again get back in a capacity line-up of maidens but she has a bit more upside than most of these. CATERAN has a set of shades going on after a really god performance behind Now Showing at 1600m last start. IL BELLO BEALS is a long time maiden who has promised to win races his entire career. He went back last start and ran well, but he’s capable of leading this. EXTRA ZERO got rolled again last start as a beaten favourite. “Enough is enough” – 15 Dec. He’s been beaten under $4 another three times since! Punters plz. Numbers: 12 – 3 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – MIDNIGHT STAR WIN RACE 3 PRINCE RAGNAR looks a big chance of leading and winning this c70+ 1100. This track/distance grade was beaten by a nose at the hands of Gold Keeper on 8 January 2026 and now meets him 4kg better at the weights, then led and faded late at 1200m (which stretches him) before heading to town and fighting on quite well on a 0MWLY 1000 behind Tycoon Harry. 1100m seems to be his sweet spot and he’ll be in front for a long way for Bailey Webster. ONEMORETWOMANY can box seat following his every move and that’s a suitable map for him. Short sharp sprint is all he has. GOLD KEEPER is a model of consistency from 1100m to 1400m. MOORUMBINE is first-up, no trial back onto the grass and usually puts in a ripper fresh. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – PRINCE RAGNAR WIN RACE 4 DEEP DISCRETION went to a C5 1400 last start when beaten under 3L by the highly talented and emerging star of MidWest racing in Scurgeofthewest. Drops back to 1200, drops back to C2 company, has a set of shades attached and draws to get all the favours. Last win was this track/distance/grade and looks a nice chance for her to break back into the winner’s circle. VERSAILLE was attacked from start to finish last time out and did a good job to hold on for third behind emerging 3 year old Yapper and subsequent winner So Immaculate. Should be able to find the top again and takes running down. KARRI ON has been going well all prep and gets a rare senior rider engagement. Can make a big difference at this level. SHOOT TO FAME caught the eye first-up. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 9 – 3 Suggested Bet – DEEP DISCRETION WIN RACE 5 SURE NO SOMETHING ran second under 61kg last start to impressive winner Safe Hustle. There’s a 5.5kg weight swing here to try and turn around the near 4L margin and he should be at his absolute peak now fifth-up into the campaign. Ron Cowl (Jnr) has had a great season and this looks winnable for him. SAFE HUSTLE went around at nearly $15 last start but given the manner in which he won you’d think he was an odds on pop. Quite simply if he reproduces that effort they’re running for second. The query is whether he can put two together? BONNY ROCK comes back to 1200m and that might be the winning move from Mack Hall. Has been highly competitive all preparation. TYCOON DEMON didn’t seem to run out 1400 last start either. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – SURE NO SOMETHING WIN RACE 6 MIFF MUFFERED MOOF is dictated too by the programming after winning a 1900 last start. Her prior effort in the Walkaway Cup was huge and with the shades on hopefully she’s got enough spring in her step to overcome the drop back in distance. MISS WALL STREET is double accepted for a C3 at Belmont on Wednesday and a C2 at Geraldton on Thursday. This is clearly the more winnable race for her and like the fact that they’ve gone with the senior and engaged the services of one of the region’s best in Laqdar Ramoly. Keep a close eye on which race they start in. SANABEAU should be able to cross and lead here and goes lengths better in front. LET’S SEA drops back out of a 70+ when far from disgraced. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – MIFF MUFFERED MOOF WIN RACE 7 HOT NOVA comes out of a C1 behind Wonderfully Made at Belmont which should safely be the strongest form reference of the race. She’s got the speed to come out running and offset the wide draw and after the claim for Cass Martinan she only has 53.5kg in what looks a very winnable C1 on paper. All of Sky Ballinger’s are going well and this is likely eachway the field. CALEB attacked the line well two back but went to a new level last start when the blinkers were added for the first time. It’s a big ask to go from 56.5kg to 59kg and win again but he does look a relatively progressive 3 year old for the region. CRAMPIN’ MY STYLE has shades added instead of Winkers and each run for new trainer Tony Scally has been good enough to win. HILLSIDE HORACE was fresh over 1100 when huge behind Versaille and then the barrier took care of him second-up. Going well. Numbers: 12 – 3 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – HOT NOVA EACHWAY Market Market
