Chris Nelson’s Saturday Eagle Farm Preview Posted on May 1, 2025May 1, 2025 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 The 2025 Queensland Winter Racing Carnival kicks off at Eagle Farm on Saturday & I’m very happy to report the weather will be fine, very minimal chance of any showers. We kick the day off with a very open looking Class 3 Plate where I’m leaning to a mare who I was bagging 7 days ago in (11) FRENCH ENDEAVOUR! The difference today may be that she strikes a race which should be run at a decent tempo something she hasn’t had in her favour at her past 3 starts. We obviously don’t know a great deal about the Kiwi raider (10) CROUPIER however I’m certainly respecting; they don’t spend the cash to cross the ditch for just the weather. (6) VORACIOUS if able to cross will take gunning down. Numbers: 11 – 10 – 6 – 13 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 2 (4) FLOOZIE looks very well placed to make it 2 from 2 this prep. Put into a perfect position just off speed wide (ok) with cover by Angela Jones first-up she had her rivals covered early in the straight running clear to the line. Suggest should the same mare turn up today the same result is highly likely. (3) HERMANITA & (2) EN POINTE will park up on or near the lead, I’d include both in exotics. (1) HEROIC MISS won’t be far away either, last couple at this track have resulted in a win & narrow placing. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet: FLOOZIE TO WIN. RACE 3 Tough race, many chances. (5) DEEP RESPECT gets the nod from me being a first up winner in the past & note when fresh last prep closed off strongly in a race not run to suit tempo wise at all. Liked his recent trial & he draws ok. (12) STARRY EYES will be big odds here however I would definitely include in all exotics, placed 2 of 4 fresh he saves his very best for this track. (9) SER JOH pulled up with a slow recovery last start, prior form extremely consistent, can bounce back. Numbers: 5 – 12 – 9 – 10 Suggested Bet: DEEP RESPECT EACH-WAY. RACE 4 Keen on the chances of the Chris Waller trained mare (6) FLEUR DU MONDE who motored home at the end of 1600m here a fortnight ago. She didn’t jump well, gave away a big start & was then held up in the straight before clear late really cutting loose into second spot. Third-up rising to 1800m looks ideal. (9) DEMON DARB is flying of late, beat home the top tip last start, main danger however the tables will hopefully be turned. (5) VICTORY WIN right in it whilst (1) RISING PACIFIC is a betting watch, may take this run having not raced since March & is rising 235m in distance. Numbers: 6 – 9 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet: FLEUR DU MONDE EACH-WAY. RACE 5 Have to stick with last week’s winner (10) TAVS who was so dominant putting a gap in his rival’s half-way down the straight. The clued-up punters didn’t forget to back him sending him out favourite after opening up well into double-figure odds earlier in the week. Less weight, drawn ok he can win again. Don’t mind (11) ANEMACORE dropping back in distance, freshened up he just might be better placed back to the shorter trip. (5) BLAKMAX was just plain horrible last start, first up run was a good one & I wouldn’t be surprised to see him go forward today stepping up in distance. Numbers: 10 – 11 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 6 The Listed Dalrello for the youngsters is the first of our feature races. I’m a big fan of the lightly raced (2) TORQUE TO BE SURE who really impressed at both outings over the summer. Parked off speed he found the line strongly on each occasion & his lead-up trials have done nothing to diminish my confidence. (6) AMOSU trialled very well into the debut win when very heavily supported, no ‘official trials’ this time around however the stable is a betting one suggesting any market support should be followed. Look for some improvement out of (13) LOCKYER who Tony Gollan suggests we haven’t seen the best of yet. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 13 – 9 Suggested Bet: TORQUE TO BE SURE TO WIN. RACE 7 The G2 Queensland Guineas brings together both local & interstate form lines, should be a very competitive affair. Eagle Farm has proven to be a real ‘horses for courses’ track in recent times & there’s no better horse for this course then the in-form (3) BOOMTOWN BOSS who is 2 from 2 this prep here having driven along the inferior inside rail sections on each occasion. He’s good value & I’m sticking solid. (16) CHURCHILL’S CHOICE is very promising, no luck first up was unbeaten prior to that, BIG danger. (1) SHANGRI LA SPRING had everything to suit last start dictating, he drops back 400m however the map suggests a similar type lead is on the cards here. Numbers: 3 – 16 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet: BOOMTOWN BOSS EACH-WAY. RACE 8 The G2 Victory Stakes is the main lead-up to the Doomben 10,000 in a fortnight’s time. I’m confident the first up (14) COLEMAN can run a big race fresh, his first-up record is a good one & I’ve liked his recent trials put under no pressure. A newcomer to the Waller yard I’ll be buoyed by any market support. (7) HIDDEN WEALTH could end up posted, if not he’s a chance, really improved out of sight in recent times. (7) EL MORZILLO will be closing in, will she be close enough to win though? Chances don’t end there. Numbers: 14 – 7 – 17 – 1 Suggested Bet: COLEMAN EACH-WAY. RACE 9 Very confident (1) EMIRATE can win this final race. His first two starts resulted in wins before being spelled, he was thrown in the deep end tackling the G2 Run To The Rose & the G1 Golden Rose last September, whilst out of the money he wasn’t far away in both, the latest (G1) 2.6L behind Broadsiding! His two trials have been very soft out the back however I liked the ground he made at the latest under no urgings. (2) SNACK BAR the logical danger should there be one, race gets very wide from there on. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet: EMIRATE TO WIN. Market Market
