Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on December 3, 2024December 3, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BLACK ORA made an impression at trials when shooting home into second behind Galactic Empire (who has won both trials this prep) and then was a dominant debut at Northam. Wasn’t at the same level last start but did endure an awkward run and did want to lay inwards noticeably in the home straight. Lugging bit goes on, Pike sticks and she gets out to 1200m. Going to follow up. DIVINE IMPACT drops out of the Burgess Queen and Champion Fillies back to midweek grade. Did win fresh with 58kg. AT YOUR SERVICE finished just in front of Black Ora last start and is getting close. SUNSHINE TAFE gets a soft run. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – BLACK ORA WIN RACE 2 ROMANTIC RULER has put the writing on the wall for a long overdue maiden win. His two runs this preparation have been excellent, beaten a nose at 80-1 behind Cable Rock who has since run well in C1 company and a narrow minor to Frappuccino who has always shown above average maiden ability. Out to 1650m and gets his best chance yet. RHYTHMIC BELLE was really good first-up in a Westspeed Platinum and then not disgraced second-up again racing on a Saturday. This is a much more suitable race. DR ON CALL has the shades going back on and could slide forward here into a nice spot. SWEET SURRENDER did a lot wrong on debut and now gets the services of William Pike. Numbers: 1 – 9 – 4 – 13 Suggested Bet – ROMANTIC RULER WIN RACE 3 RISSOLES should be hard to beat fresh. After running into Joker’s Grin she toyed with maiden opposition at Belmont Park and then contested back to back Saturday 3 year old races when splitting Sonoftheboss and King Cartel and then finishing less than 2L off King’s Salute. Trial was solid, map is perfect. PLAYFUL STAR broke her maiden track/distance and then was only 1L off the winner in a 3 year old 0MWLY. Great placement into this C1. PINGERS won well at Albany and Daytona Pete did come out of that maiden and win on Sunday at Pinjarra. SHASFA is a speedy mare who will come out running. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – RISSOLES WIN RACE 4 PLAY THE BLUFF was the talk of the town going into his debut at Bunbury back in July and didn’t let his supporters down, winning by 1.8L running away from them. At his second start he struck a Heavy8 and didn’t seem to appreciate the wet surface. First-up, no trial we’ll back in Mitch Pateman to have him ready to go. SHOOTING SPIRIT showed a nice turn of foot to win fresh and this is no harder. Identical map for him as he looks to go back to back. CLOSE TALKER has a senior on but weight to carry and an awkward draw. GOLD FLAKES hasn’t had much luck this prep. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – PLAY THE BLUFF WIN RACE 5 PROPHET AND POWER should be ready third-up. Fresh he ran second to Uncle Gerard from the breeze, second-up he ran third beaten a half head in a tight photo and third-up he went to a Saturday race when well supported at odds and was the only on-speed type left standing in a swoopers affair. Rolls to the top back in grade and takes beating. IDEALLY broke her maiden in style at Geraldton off the back of an eye-catching debut at Bunbury. Progressive filly. STATE OF FURY has hit a purple patch of form and is versatile. CABLE ROCK sat wide throughout last start and kept coming late. Numbers: 1 – 10 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – PROPHET AND POWER WIN RACE 6 STARATING went through the Ascot 1000 Guineas / Natasha Stakes / WA Oaks preparation with now Saturday mares Own The Queen and Miss Skyhigh. She resumed last preparation at Belmont on a Saturday and if she had room to move on straightening the eye says she would have gone very close to winning. Soft recent trial, drawn well, Pike back on. Like the set up. EL PATRON finds it hard to win but at the same time is rarely far from the winner. Good trial and seems to run for Luke Campbell. ZANGIEF won well over Six Shooter at Bunbury. PLATO OR PLOMO was better last start. Numbers: 9 – 8 – 7 – 10 Suggested Bet – STARATING WIN RACE 7 NICKELPLAY looks well suited to the big drop in grade. After her emphatic maiden win she has contested the Burgess Queen Stakes and Champion Fillies. Right back into a C1 and if they can make ground she’ll be winding up strongly late in the contest. THE KING’S UNCLE ran a cheeky race fresh from a long way back and then was sound behind Six Shooter in a C3 last start. PERFECT BUBBLES made a late run at Cashel Palace last start and that is now Sir Ernest Lee-Steere Classic winning form. MILLY’S CLEVER TOO went huge last start but from the draw will need to again here. Numbers: 9 – 3 – 12 – 6 Suggested Bet – NICKELPLAY WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,3,4,5,7 1,4,5,10 8,9 2,3,5,6,7,9,12 Market Market
