Scott Embry’s Thursday Albany Preview Posted on December 3, 2024December 3, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 WHY ME had his first run in 36 days last start and his first outing for new trainer Brandon Fiore. Got a long way back from a wide gate and made some late ground at Bunbury, a track that has proven extremely hard to make any inroads at. Provincial C3 to a country C2 looks a nice set up for him. SIR BEAR A LOT has returned in great order and Sam Faithfull continues to go from strength to strength. Last 90 days: 19 runners, 5 winners, 26.3% strike rate and 29% POT. Flying. ODIN OMEN will have his usual band of followers and is racing well. HIGH PRECISION an improver. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – WHY ME WIN RACE 2 SURF PATROL should be very hard to beat here. On debut finished 1.5L off Surfside Session as well as subsequent winners Zouconi, Ocean Outlaw and Super Snippy. Second-up (after being sent back to trials) finished 2L off Zeezea and Fast Harry in a fast run maiden at Bunbury. Blinkers on first time, off to a country maiden and the region’s best rider aboard. SUMMER MOOD heads down to Albany as well and Lucy Fiore taking the ride is a huge bonus. ANNIE WARBUCKS trialled well leading into her debut. CAPABLE ANGEL has been well supported on more than one occasion throughout her career. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 11 – 6 Suggested Bet – SURF PATROL WIN RACE 3 GONDRINKIN looks ready to win again. Ultimately he’s only the winner of a Junction maiden but on the grass recently he has finished second to King Mahuta in a C1 1600 at Geraldton and then second to Miff Muffered Moof in a C2 1600 at Geraldton. Out to 1900m doesn’t look like it will worry him and as usual we’re on the Tash Faithfull bandwagon. MISS ANONYMITY was put into the race last start by Brandon Louis and that seems to be the best way to ride her. WHOD A THOUGHT IT won a staying maiden on Cup Day at Bunbury. CHEROKEE MISS is on the 4 day spin. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – GONDRINKIN WIN RACE 4 BECALOTTI is a last start 1900m winner (never thought I’d say that in my life) who carried the same 60kg impost she has here at Geraldton. Was afforded the world’s best run by Jarrad Noske and see no reason why she can’t go back to back if she can get the right cart into it. QUEEN NARDI has a near side blinker attached and is racing like she’s needing/wanting ground. ZACKARIAH BEAU is really well placed by Greg Beauglehole and is racing well enough. HOIST THE COLOURS was much better last start. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – BECALOTTI WIN RACE 5 SNIPPY WHICH toyed with them at Geraldton last start and went straight on past a very handy country galloper in Westozi and a horse who had been competitive in midweek grade in the metro area in Deep Speed. This is no tougher, he only rises 1.5kg and the way he won last start the extra 100m won’t worry him. EXCELTRAIN is brilliantly placed by the Pearce Brothers and looms as a big danger. Dropping out of m72 and m66+ rating into a c70 and still carrying less than 60kg. Elite. RUDHYAR wants further but Bec Bayliss’ team is going great guns. MACK MACK improves. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – SNIPPY WHICH WIN RACE 6 AUDREY GRACE is not an easy mare to follow but she’s going to pinch a C2 at Albany in the coming weeks/months. She’s got a short, sharp kick that lasts 150m and needs to be saved up from a soft draw. Gets those conditions here and a tongue tie. SOSIPATRA and MAKE YOUR POINT are both speedy but one is drawn middle of the line and the other is drawn out in the cheap seats. MAKIN PROPHETS has all the gear coming off as he steps out of Alan Smith for the first time after being a late scratching on November 16. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – AUDREY GRACE WIN RACE 7 FLICK THE SWITCH makes a big jump from C2 into 58+ company off the 7 days but she won very soft last week in slick time (4L faster than average). Drops 2kg and is part of the most potent combination in Great Southern racing. We keep following. IM NOT SLEW makes his WA debut and did win a BM66 at Scone only 6 months ago leading all the way. MEGA REWARD is nicely placed by Ash Maley and is a more than capable galloper on his day. Has been below his best for a while now but if there’s any money around for him late then it may pay to follow. HOT CHATTER is yet to find her best this campaign. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – FLICK THE SWITCH WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,3,4,5 1,2 1,2,4,5,6 4 Market Market
