Scorchers v Renegades Preview Posted on December 29, 2015January 28, 2016 | Posted by Wayne Clark If previous results between the two sides count, you would have the Scorchers odds-on for this encounter defeating the Renegades at all of the four previous meetings. Unfortunately it means nothing and the Scorchers face a real tough task to maintain that unbeaten run. The Renegades brag a very strong batting line-up with a number of players (Gayle, Finch, White & Bravo) capable of big quick runs. Add Wade, Beaton, Cooper and a formidable target is expected. The problem for the Renegades will be protecting that target; 172 against the Sixers was not enough in their last game and they lack what I regard as a “danger” bowler. Rimmington is steady but they need more from Tremain (expensive last game) and Doherty. The Scorchers welcome back Shaun Marsh, who will re-join Klinger opening, expect him to be hungry for runs. Harris and Agar showed they can play a positive role wherever they bat and I’m still waiting for the opportunity to see Willey get some extended batting time. The bowling attack of the Scorchers again proved a strength in their latest fixture and the clash against the strong Renegades batting line-up is mouth-watering; pretty-much determining the result in my mind. Behrendorf showed again his early wicket taking ability and Hogg and Willey can really put the brakes on the opposition, while Tye finishes off well. A very importance game for both teams and looks a toss of the coin, but the all-round strength of the Scorchers could tilt it their favour.
